This was a wonderful story that was many layered. It caused some soul wrenching; the effect of children being the heroes and heroines of Smeerensburg, while Klaus is the main supporting hero of the story.
the way Klaus shows kindness as inspiring and contagious is the main reason why it's one of my most favorite movies! experiencing it is more heartwarming than any words could describe. also, Alva's story hit me really hard because i could really relate to how she wanted to stay but felt like this town would only bring her misery. her staying and being happy about it really drew home the point that it's not about the place, it's about the people.
Absolutely! It really shows that kindness, compassion and human connection are what truly matters in the long run and that once we allow ourselves to embrace it our life gets better for it.
I literally just watched this last night, what timing!
This time of the year is the best time to rewatch it :D
I saw this movie for the first time earlier this year and it instantly became one of my favorite Christmas Movies. It just does everything so well and it's such a cool take on the origins of Christmas traditions and tropes
I honestly have yet to meet someone who DOESN'T consider it to be an insta Christmas classic :D It's a very special movie.
I would have to say this is my favorite Christmas movie, since my friend and I have been putting it on the TV our Christmas parties every year since it came out. A lot of the reviews I've seen of it tend to be pretty positive until the Liar Revealed subplot comes up, and that seems to be a dealbreaker for a lot of people in a movie they would have loved otherwise. So it was nice to hear an opinion that isn't too put off by that part. It's not my favorite trope either, but it doesn't come close to ruining the movie for me. And I totally agree with your analysis of Alva! At first she also seemed like a trope I'm not too fond of (the jaded woman who will definitely soften and fall in love with the male protagonist by the end) but as a teacher, she resonated with me a lot and might even be my favorite character.
Sounds like a really lovely tradition!
