Deforestation, intensive agriculture, and bad soil management are accelerating the climate crisis in Spain and everywhere in Europe. To combat climate change, we will need more farmers to switch to regenerative practices and many more people to become (regenerative) farmers.
Belén and Leo are that new generation of farmers. They both studied at university in a big metropole. They are millennials. But a few years ago, they decided to return to their roots in rural Spain. Today they feel stigmatised by society for choosing to work in the rural sector despite their academic careers.
But they both remain determined with their choice: small-scale farmers produce 70% of the world's food. When young millennials move away from the countryside, there is nobody to regenerate deforested land and farmable soil is left to massive industries.
Leo and Belén want to prove that working in the rural sector is not just perfectly viable, also for millennials - but vital to saving our climate. Returning to their roots after years of academic studies, they are bringing back awareness for the role of small-scale farmers in protecting the world’s soils.

It takes a lot of courage to decide to live in a rural area and support the community there, instead of pursuing the "average" city life.

We have such rich rural areas in Iberia, biodiversity- and culture-wise, but they are being abandoned. When there are no locals anymore, corporations come, buy the land and make industrial crops, it's sad! Thank you ecosia!

I am so inspired. Like @niklas said, the lure and pull of the status-quo is strong not to mention the strident judgement they will get as "millennial farmers." What these two demonstrate is hope for a future, belief in and love for Earth, and a love for their "roots." Awesome

Also now is a tendency to find more ecological and permacultural projects. :) here in Peru I found many of them and it feels awesome to be part of them
For the next new tree planting project why not replant the jungles of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia that got sprayed with Agent Orange during the Vietnam War?
Cus we should stick to our own backyard rather than keep going elsewhere where we don't know the culture (as we didn't then)...leave people to their own devices and as this video says, support local and something that u know its origin. I think assuming we can fly around everywhere to act as eco supermen is just as damaging as agent Orange!

Sueño con ello. ¿Mi ilusión? Poder estar en un pueblo, regenerar el entorno, crear un nucleo de desarrollo humano y ambiental. Y localizar tal en este vídeo, me hace ilusionarle.
No será de la noche a la mañana, pero la ciudad está en vías del colapso: vive ajena a la vida, al entorno, para y por el consumismo.
Podremoa lograr nodos y nucleos que revitalicen esa unión y ese volver a las raices, a salvar el entorno, a recuperar la alegría de vivir y el vivir en salud.

What you are doing is planting a seed so people can be concience of what is produced here and that the farmer should set the price for their product and not the retailers. Thats what will give Spain a better economy. Keep up the good work.

Aunque la exposición a ella también ayuda y en todo caso - lo más important es que seamos una gran comunidad de usuarios. Mientras Ecosia te sirva como producto, eso es lo más importante. En todo caso, si quieres y tienes instalado un bloqueador de publicidad, siempre puedes hacer una excepción para Ecosia. De este modo, cuando necesites hacer una compra por internet, puedes hacerla a través de Ecosia y si además la haces a través de una de las publicidades que ese te muestren, estarás generando beneficios para la plantación de árboles. ¡Saludos!
@@Ecosia Hola de nuevo!. pues si, he buscado la opción de "permitir publicidad" en la app pero aun no me aparece publicidad. Mi idea es cooperar con la organizacion pero yo utilizo mucho mas el movil que el ordenador. En la app he realizado 30 busquedas y no he visto ninguna publicidad... lo peor de todo es que mucha gente en las redes como twitter dicen que Ecosia gana si o si con sus 45 busqueda y eso confunde un poco a la hora de querer recomendar la app a otros. Ojala puedan reformular una nueva campaña de tutorial del navegador para informar bien a todos. Desde ya les agradezco muchisimo su respuesta. You are not crazy at all, I would give almost anything to be out of the city. I dislike all the noise, rudeness, bright light 24/7 and unfriendly people in the city. This is no way for people to live, completely disconnected from nature.
