    I almost bought a set of GSCI PVS-31C-MOD NVG recently. However, I found a Black Friday sale on the DTNVS and then came across your overview video which changed my mind. The lightweight modular design of the DTNVS is what I find so appealing. The extra little bells and whistles on the 31 might be nice to have, such as manual gain control, but it adds weight and potential points of failure. I think it's time to finally pull the trigger and order the DTNVS.

  • @wherenowhow6037
    @wherenowhow6037 Před 3 lety +3

    They put the lanyard anchor points in the wrong place. They should have been on the outside of the housing that holds the tube. Point being if you snap a pod off that dainty hinge point you are going to be out a housing and additionally, most likely a Intensifier Tube when it hits the ground and shatters like an egg. NVD BNVD iterations all have their lanyard anchor points in the correct place.

    • @henryliu1046

    • @OFFICIALUND
      @OFFICIALUND Před 3 lety +1

      You make an interesting point, but with a tension-type system (i.e. shock cord), having the anchor point on the tube itself would be a problem for the articulation. That said, having an anchor point from the tube to the bridge and then the bridge to the helmet would be an interesting concept.

      I think they said they would do this later but right now all TNV DTNVS housings are beholden to their respective tubes. You could maybe buy the housing elsewhere (weapon outfitters just got some) and then call TNVC and ask if they’ll install them for you.

      1431's are cheap injection molded chinese housing that shuts off when you look down and is not waterproof or ruggedized......youre comparing a model T to a Ferrari Super Car.

    • @WheelchairOperator
      @WheelchairOperator Před 3 lety +1

      They also are notorious for getting fogged up from moisture build-up inside the housing since they can’t be purged properly. They’re essentially a $40 Airsoft replica PVS-31A that will accept PVS-14 optics, tubes, and a power source.

      @@atacorion Sorry Sam. But I don’t have those experiences with the product. My point, and you could be a great influencer, is that we need an American made alternative to the both of them. The only American bino manufacturer(NVD) won’t sell a diy to the public. Appreciate ya bra.

    Lost all respect when I saw the NOD’s being worn, in daytime, with no lense covers. I’m not going to even go into how dumb it is to wear NOD’s, in daytime, on a boat.
    The film in the tube is 10,000x more thin than a human hair. So yah, let’s just expose it to UV rays... care of equipment man...

      Lmfao, cool man.
      FYI, if the unit is off there is no danger to the image intensifiers. Also, the "tube" on the inside of the unit and isn't affected by riding on a boat. The film is on the tube not the lens assemblies.

      Mike you’ve got quite a few of your facts incorrect sir. I would recommend a NV class in your near future to clarify some things for you and so you can get the most out of your NV.....if you’re a boater or something.
