You should get a double bass next
it sounds like someones farting xD
why
Okay.
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ this is the one time I'm okay with this kind of comment lol. It's the perfect response.
As a tubist/sousaphone player, this is slightly painful to watch, but I'm glad our army is being added to.
He can hit that pedal Bb tho
He started to hold the notes better by the end. He was definitely struggling with keeping up his air flow though lol
I can agree with this
Yep
he used the right fingering for hot cross buns though, being a tuba player i really want a sousaphone myselph.
Daniel is the definition of the neighbours kid in adult form

Are you an aspiring "Just Some Guy Without a Mustache" just with one?
Waltuh, you’re everywhere waltuh

Getting a sousaphone and then going “time for a trumpet solo” is so painful yet accurate to the band experience 😭 cherish your low brass siblings, please
As a tuba player, Daniel organically deciding to play Mars _killed_ me. That was a classic to blast as we walked off the field after high school band practice.
If you made a kid, they would definitely emerge from a sousaphone ✊👶

Wait... are you telling me there's actually another human being behind the camera witnessing all the madness Daniel does?
Kudos to the filming and editing team; as hilarious and charismatic as Daniel is, this content wouldn't have hit the same without the great edits and different filming angles.
As an old Sousa player, it was immensely gratifying, watching such a prolific musician pick up the horn, and just let loose the most metallic farts possible. Brings me back, and brings a tear to my eye.
METALLIC FARTS 💀💀💀
Metallic farts! 😂
And a little drop of blood to my ear.
Can’t tell if you’re serious or not……🤔
This was really an adventure of "how many instruments do I have to make with my mouth to make this sousaphone sound good?"
No. Way. Daniel, I adore this. First the bagpipes, and now the sousaphone?! I can’t think of any way you could make me happier through music.
I swear, 2:35 sound like something out of my singing monsters
Exactly
As someone who played tuba all through middle/high school, these are exactly some of the "first impression" thoughts that run through your mind: the hilarity at putting on the massive instrument, the "what the heck" positioning of the mouthpiece, the absolute metallic fart noises that emerge from trying the first few noises, it's all here. Fantastic.
2:59 You know, on the topic, there was always an urban legend among tuba players that if you played a specific low note on tuba, it would arose a crocodile. Also not a zoologist, idk.
Crocodiles are apparently turned on by a B flat!! Not a clue why haha
Yoooooo
Nice
@Danny Hincka the brown note was very popular with us aswell. it was how we got ourselves playing pedal tones
As a sousaphone in marching band… this is the most real portrayal of someone learning the sousaphone ever. Especially the picking up for the first time…
At some point we need a video showing off Daniel's instrument collection. Like a demented version of Cribs, but instead of the garage opening to show off a bunch of cars it's a bunch of odd instruments.
2:42 100% thought he was about to attempt the Hamilton soundtrack
As a sousaphone player, I respect Daniel for doing a lot better than most people. Good job
to be fair, its daniel
@@pvic6959 fair point
Every instrument makes it easier to learn the next. That said I believe he played trumpet which is similar enough. I'm also a sousaphone player actually kinda wish I could afford one
As a string player hats off to you! I have no idea how brass players do it, circular breathing and whatnot. I wanna pass out if i have to blow up birthday balloons.
@@sarahs1368 you're crazy if you think any of us brass players are circular breathing lol. I don't know how string players do it, not having frets and whatnot
I am equally floored by Danny's myriad of musical skills and his horrifying ways of applying them.
(Jackie's mom): so Jackie what did you do today?
Jackie: I listened to a grown man dance around randomly and try to make sounds out of a sousaphone
Just so you all know. The sousaphone was designed for the sole purpose of producing a similar noise to the tuba, while also being easier to carry while marching. By easier to carry I mean it sits on the shoulders and you can bear the weight easier, because these things can weigh up to like 20-25kg if you get full brass ones!
daniel has more chemistry with himself than i do with anyone i know

Can’t believe Daniel bought a sousaphone and DIDN’T play the VeggieTales theme song.
Right! 🤣
I hear a petition...

Omg I'm glad I'm not alone here! 😂

Legitimate question: Is Jackie a sousaphonist or did she have custody of the brain cell that day?

@@saltygooseundertale7412 he literally shows her on the video
@beezzinha I know that but like what relation does she have to Daniel? I haven't seen her in any videos is she an assistant? Girlfriend? Relative????
@@saltygooseundertale7412 She is Daniel's production manager. There is much more of her on the ThrasherPlus channel.
@JitkaKac. Ohh ok tyty
Ah, I have a lot of memories with that instrument. Getting hailed on out of nowhere, tripping down stairs, the permanent back damage...
Good times.
If you made a full song out of 3:08 I would unintentionally listen that everyday, because it actually sounded pretty cool! Also I am the same way whenever I get a new instrument, I just sit there for hours messing around with them haha

There was a kid in my band who played the tuba and I distinctly remember the Grinch smirk he used to give the band whenever a marching piece came up and he got to whip out the sousaphone. Also, same. 😂 I want to go teach him how to play it.
@@Sunbeargirl- same
Watching Daniel do this is really funny because one of my good friends is a sousaphone in our high school marching band and he makes it look a LOT easier than Daniel does!
Your friend is a sousaphone? How does he even march
daniel i think my favorite thing about this is that i can attest to this being as accurate a creative process as ever. i am a trombonist, i started out on euphonium, but this was a beautiful display of exercising raw creativity and it got better as the video went on. the new orleans swing really sold it. i adore these ones, thank you. thank you.
2:54 Using the Doppler effect in this was genius. 🤣
He keeps picking up more obscure instruments and I'm here for it
Is a sousaphone obscure? Almost every marching band has at least one. The ones that don't usually have a marching tuba instead.
@@zombieman3011maybe not but definitely a little less obvious
@zombieman3011 obscure in the sense that your average person probably couldn't identify it (unlike a tuba, which I think a lot of people would confuse this for lol)
@@thatginger6839 ehh, If you can play a tuba you can play the sous. (source, Me playing both in highschool band)
@@thatginger6839 I mean, same instrument, different configuration. I wouldn't say I can play the tuba and the sousaphone. I'd only say tuba
I want to see Daniel playing an accordeon next
Shouldn't be too hard, he already plays piano, or should it?
Heck yeah! I was thinking the same thing.
I purchased an accordion because I thought the same thing "its just a dlc for piano" boy was I wrong, turns out the keyboard half is a very small part of the challenge of accordion. 10/10 difficulty compared to piano in my opinion
@@KGB.Official Haha. Yeah. Not being able to constantly see your right hand playing the melody is a small problem if you have to play the bass with some buttons you can only feel (with just around 3 distinguishable buttons) while also having to let the bellows "breathe" to determine volume and to even make any sound.
I'm glad that I've been learning it since 2nd grade, almost 13 years now. It's so much fun and such a unique instrument.
I just love to watch Daniel having fun. He has the most beautiful smile 😀 and an infectious chuckle. Go Daniel - play that...horn...thingy...😂😂😂
One other thing, this reminded me of my first year playing tuba. I practiced at least 30 minutes a day 5 to 6 days a week.
This goes out to all of the family and neighbors that suffer around those that play the tuba, at home.
As a high school tuba/sousaphone player, I feel recognized knowing that somebody else calls it a marching tuba.
whenever he tries to learn a new instrument its chaotic neutral energy and i love it
As a collegiate marching band sousa, and watching hours worth of Daniel's content. It makes me feel a little warm inside, that he didn't absolutely finesse this instrument as he does with everything else.

@Don't Read My Profile Picture haha very funny.

"I'm a sousaphone man, with a sousaphone plan" Are you gonna make me music in Sousaphone Land? 😂
4:28 daniel’s ad skits are something so dear to me
The sousaphone (/ˈsuːzəfoʊn/ SOO-zə-fohn) is a brass instrument in the tuba family. Created around 1893 by J. W. Pepper at the direction of American bandleader John Philip Sousa (after whom the instrument was then named), it was designed to be easier to play than the concert tuba while standing or marching, as well as to carry the sound of the instrument above the heads of the band. Like the tuba, sound is produced by moving air past the lips, causing them to vibrate or "buzz" into a large cupped mouthpiece. Unlike the tuba, the instrument is bent in a circle to fit around the body of the musician; it ends in a large, flaring bell that is pointed forward, projecting the sound ahead of the player. Because of the ease of carrying and the direction of sound, it is widely employed in marching bands, as well as various other musical genres. Sousaphones were originally made of brass. Beginning in the mid-20th century, some sousaphones have also been made of lighter materials such as fiberbrass & plastic.

I play the sousaphone and the whole video is factual when you first start playing it. You start playing and not pressing the values and but then you learn the fingerings and it is a very fun instrument to play once you learn it. Great video Daniel! Keep up the hard work!
As a Tuba player, this video brings me immense joy.
I love your videos so much, thanks for continuing to create:)
I really love this video!! You made great music right off the spot.
im convinced he just knows how to play every instrument
This is going to be the same with every new instrument he gets isn't it
This made me laugh so hard... What a good laugh, thank you. My older brother played sousaphone in marching band in high school and I would have to go to the shows, and I could never decipher what it sounded like... But it is quite an instrument visually! My favorite of your jams with it was when you were using it like a drum too haha. Very creative
So delightful, takes me back to shenanigans at band camp. Sousaphones are an insane instrument for people with no fear
''have I ever been this attractive'' had me dying 💀
Daniel: As you can see, I have purchased a susaphone.
All of us watching: ✨WOW!✨
I play Sousaphone/Tuba in University and it is fun to see people try it for the first time because, at least in band, people view it as a very easy instrument to play. Then they try it... it isn't. It also hurts your back carrying it for so many marching band seasons
I did tuba throughout highschool, including sousaphone during marches. Highly recommend investing in a good shoulder pad for continued use. Sousaphones use a lot more air than one might expect and being comfortable enough to hold good posture is critical.
Daniel gets funnier and funnier the more you watch him 😂
This instrument sounds like a baby elephant trying to trumpet musically and I’m here for it.
