Sorry if I sound tired in todays one. Let's just say I haven't been getting the best sleep in the last few days 😅 But anyway, what are your favorite ways of watching Media in VR?
Absolutely agree. Also, absolute no-brainer is watching 3D movies in VR. I've been playing VRChat for well over a year until one of my friends asked me if I had ever done that before. Later that night, I was finding myself in a room with him watching Ratatouille in 3D and it was amazing!
Headsets are expensive and hard to clean. Schools wouldn't want to distribute them because they cant support things like word or basic windows apps anyways
Hey Mysticle! Watching TV in VR is absolutely awesome! I recorded the experience on my phone. It’s an experience I’ll never forget!

For watching local files alone, I prefer to use the Virtual Desktop app. It can also play 3D movies. I first used it to watch Arcane, laying down on my bed at night with a giant screen in the sky. The first experience is unforgettable. The only downside is that sometimes I have to convert files to mp4, but that is no problem as I can do that with a sideloaded FFMPEG app right inside Quest 2.
Oh and FullSBS 3D movies on the QuestPro look absolutely STUNNING. Better than watching on my old Plasma 3DTV from years ago. An incredible experience!
I stream content from my Jellyfin server to Q3 in the Meta browser. Just enter and bookmark the server IP address and it works fine, even with VR/3D movies stored on the server. If the browser is windowed it will look like you can't properly view 3D content, but just make it full screen and the controls for 2D/3D and VR appear. Select the 3D mode first (side by side or up/down), then select the VR mode.
For those that have the setup, I also have a home video server with Jellyfin. So I can stream media to my headset and skip OTG storage entirely with services like jellyfin or plex.
@@RIP123 I prefer jellyfin. It was simple to set up, does what I need it to, and I didn't need an account for anything just to use it on my local network. I tried plex first and had issues getting it going just within my home network.

Yeah, This is how I've been watching 3D movies for awhile now. Avatar in 3D was pretty nice. Unfortunately, I had to encode it to burn-in the Na'vi subtitles. Big Screen doesn't, or at least didn't at the time, work with the .PGS subtitle format that blu-rays use.
For future reference, just search online for subtitles in a compatible format, no need to re-encode - you can add the subs to the file using ffmpeg without touching the video
@@heavygeevr A compatible format wasn't the problem. I work with subtitles almost on a daily bases. With either _Subtitle Edit_ and/or _Aegisub._ Neither helped with _Half-SBS 3D_ subtitles. 3D subtitles are different than normal 2D subtitles. Is there a way to for example to view an IPTV app on the headset through either bigscreeen or virtual desktop ?
Does anybody know how to use big screen with Netflix?
Each line need to display in the correct place on each side.

Right... No VR yet :-(. I decidet to get one like a month ago so waiting for Quest 3... I hope it comes soon :-D.
I can't successfully watch anything in bigscreen and have a friend see the content as well. I've tried everything on reddit and youtube
Can you use a 'link-cable' as the OTG adaptor between an external drive and the quest 3 ? - Your vid was created 11 months back so maybe the quest 3 doesn't apply here...I'm questioning whether connecting a USB external hard-drive to the quest 3 C input will work using jut the link cable, and is Amaze File Manager necessary? I would love to be able to watch movies from an external usb drive on the quest 3 without needing to run a tethered 1000w PC or dloading the file to the quest mem.
