EXACTLY. Why do Future and Drake have beef? There has to be several factors but I think Drake's collaboration with 21 Savage is part of it. Future clearly felt some type of way because he was a long-time collaborator with Drake, even working with him for a whole album. But Future feels like Drake essentially discarded him to work with 21 Savage. both from Atlanta. Both made music that appealed to the streets and the clubs. Future is THE BIGGEST rapper when it comes to Atlanta. Instead of working with him, Drake chose 21 Savage who would have been Future competition because 21 Savage is younger/appealing to younger people. He just moved on to the next guy not thinking about his older relationships.

The biggest aspect of Drake that generates dislike or hate from the culture and pure hip-hop fans is his pretentiousness. He is not from the streets and has seen nothing, why pretend to be a hard man when clearly he is not? He may find the culture fascinating, nothing wrong with that, but why pretend to be that? Authenticity is a major part of Hip-hop culture.
When you guys talk about “being an outsider”, that is something every region in America outside of New York had to experience. The difference is LA didn’t try to sound like New York, Atlanta, Memphis, Houston, Miami, didn’t try to sound like New York. They crafted and developed their own sounds and let the world catch up. He never took over Toronto as a local artist. He’s cultural couch surfing from city to city, from style to style. When you say what was he supposed to do, the answer is be a champion for your own city FIRST. Where is the Toronto swag? Where is the Toronto slang? Don’t even wear a blue jays hat. Rap is a regional art form with a global platform and he approached it and himself like a product and the artistry passed him by.

Drake was the aggresor this time round icl. The beef starts from First Person Shooter not Like that. First Person Shooter was meant to include Kendrick and he declined the offer so Drake and J Cole took subliminal shots on that song, leading to Kendrick responding on Like That
The beef started before then. Drake had a whole fit about Kendrick on an ESPN show, the hosts couldn't air it, but one host got the word back to Kendrick's camp that Drake was talking real reckless about Kendrick , and then Kendrick said "you asked for a feature knowing we got some ish to address"
Drake has daughters from black women but when questioned about them he denied them in front of the world.. But accept adonis from a white mother when pusha brought it up.. Is crazy

I randomly shout out, what is it? The braids. Kdot had so many good lines. He controlled the pace of this beef, was able to change the tone at will, and had so many options in his arsenal. He remained focus and on offense
I'm proud of ovomitch being quite objective on here, there's nuance to the culture vulturism cause it's benefited the others too, but it also looks funny in the light, things like getting tatted BBK, the accents.. Kendrick did a double entendre.. Yes fan = freaky as.. But also he's a FAN of these cultures. Nothing wrong with that, just its a bit weird cause we don't know who he is, where as Kendrick, it's clear who he is, who he represents..

There has not been a day since it dropped that I have not played euphoria multiple times. Everyone is stuck on not like us. But euphoria is literally going to be a classic if it isn’t already.
I was disappointed with Drake's performance in the battle. He seemed distracted, unfocused and underprepared, with a weak strategy, and yet, he was projecting so much confidence against a lyricist much more shrewd and articulate than himself. Was this hubris?
Because if this was going to be his performance I'll never understand why he responded to "Like That" in the first place - he could've avoided all this damage to his public image in the process.
Kendrick out-rapped, out-strategised, out-manoeuvred, AND out-streamed him. Kendrick dropped devastatingly detailed disses that deconstructed Drake as an artist, person and cultural figure, he showed he could diss effectively in all tempos, all while completely dictating the pace of the battle. Drake lost on every metric. As a fan of both, this battle felt a little one-sided. We didn't get Drake at his best.
I just thought he'd be a bit more clever since he had a decade to prepare for this moment! Oh well...at least we got some great records but I don't think this battle reflected two artists at the top of their game. One was...the other kinda stumbled through.
I think it was a lose lose cause if drake didn’t respond the fans would’ve been mad regardless. I personally think he should’ve stopped at pushups and made another one that wasn’t so personal so it didn’t have to go there.
