    Craig- I am 73 years old, played in three US Amateurs in my twenties (played over my head and went to the quarterfinals in one!). I’ve had the good fortune to study with some of the top teachers in the US. This video is one of the finest instruction pieces I have ever seen. It has helped me resurrect some of my game! Thank you!

    I liked the paint brush visual, because I am a painter, I can definitely understand that feel. Getting those feels down and arm positions should be practiced slower, then speed built in afterwards. Great video. By the way, you have one of the greatest swings I've ever seen.

    yes, club face have to be slightly open to path so you can release the club face square to the ball and closed to the path after impact. Extreme release face case is like Phil, less and less like Rory, Collin.....I am talking about straight shot....

    At 45, after twenty years of golf played non-continuously, I have reached my maximum level of play, seven over par on my course, but I realize that although I am a rather straight player I am also quite short (130m with iron 6). This winter I will try to improve my swing and your videos are clarifying many aspects of my swing that I was doing wrong. The sound you make when you hit the ball is like a melody to me. Thanks from Italy

    Where can I get a club like the one your using in instruction

  • @mikebarnard2689
    @mikebarnard2689 Před rokem

    Craig, great stuff. Where is shaft lean measured from, is it shaft vertical or from address lean ( iron shafts will be forward about 5-10deg ?).
    What is your average shaft lean at impact.. 10-15deg… ? so less that 2 mins on a clock face.
    Golf tutors always show this huge hands forward position ( I understand it’s exaggerated) with about 30deg ( 5 mins on clock face) of lean, does that really help us if it is so far away from reality ?

    • @CraigHansonGolf
      @CraigHansonGolf  Před rokem

      10-18 Degrees with distance wedges
      10-12 degrees with mid irons
      8 degrees with long irons
      Its measured at impact a vertical line straight up from the ball illustrating zero degrees .
      I think some drills showing 30 degrees of shaft lean are not practical. Not realistic.

    • @mikebarnard2689
      @mikebarnard2689 Před rokem

      Craig.. really appreciate your reply and the time you take to deal with normal golfers..
      The point I’m making is the degree of shaft lean you show at 8:18-8:37 is massive and not at all realistic.. it actually does show a crazy amount of shaft lean ( albeit exaggerated ) and hands forward at impact position .
      If us mortals try that…. It’s shankorama 😀
      This is not criticism, just a detailed observation over time about how actual shaft lean is way smaller than 99% of golf tutors show.
      18deg = 3 min on clock face and is really close to upright and never properly explained.

    Since this information is already out there, Lydia Ko slow-mo, I feel comfortable chiding you for failing to use the close-up & slow-motion features on your recorder. As stated, this info has been out there for years so your build-up is just click-bait. That said, if you'd used slow-motion and close-up, and freeze, you'd have had a solid, reputation building video.

  • @-bld-
    @-bld- Před rokem

    That wrist concept runs totally in conflict with what Mike Bender teaches on the follow through. I'm sure there's a reason for both teaching methodologies, I just wish I knew what they were. Maybe his teaching only applies for certain shots, or in a training vacuum so to speak.

    • @CraigHansonGolf
      @CraigHansonGolf  Před rokem

      Give it try! The fact is nearly all top players move their lead wrist into extension up to 45/55 degrees that’s not a opinion. It’s tested.
      Amateurs need to create some freedom in the hands and wrists. Not the type of drills where they smacking the grips inyi walls in front them. I mean who’s that helping?
