Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG custom exhaust preview... Cold start, revs, tunnel runs!

- I've compiled a few videos here of the custom exhaust setup that I've finally settled on. I went through a trial and error process of 5-6 changes with different mufflers, resonators, crossovers, etc, until I decided that this was the most appropriate setup for the character of the car. This system is quiet/docile when crusing around town and at low speeds. However, once you go full throttle, it is incredibly loud and it sounds amazing. To quote one of my friends... "The stock exhaust system sounds like it has a potato stuck in the tailpipe", lol. I agree with that statement completely. The car in stock form has a flappy sound to it and it's very muted/muffled. Now it sounds smooth, raw, and loud!
The video starts off with a cold start, idle, revs when warm, a few tunnel pulls, and a highway pull with the windows up. I will get some outside sound clips soon! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Beautiful, The 5.5 supercharged motors will always be one of my favorites.
Yessir
Kinda have an idea with this engine in a 90's T/A
What it's a 5.4l supercharged silly
Great looking car stock, now even better. Great motor stock, now even better.
Great taste.
Great taste, now even better.
Music to my ears👍🏻 thank you for this upload😊
First amg i had a true ride in. Gotta say its my favourite performance car which i sat on 👌🏽
absolutely magnificent!
Nice sound, i will buy this one definitely as my first ride
This dude gets on it everywhere
Guage Cluster...
The only important display area of a performance vehicle 😌
This is a beast 🤤
Literally can't stop smiling..
Insane. I had N SL 55 and it never sounded like this. I might not have sold it if it had sounded Louie yours.
Sounds and looks amazing. What brand wheels are those?
Nicely done as usual brother 👍 love the ride height on this SL. Tastefully and functionally done
Thanks Joel! After a lot of fiddling with the height, I've found this drop (ride height) to be an ideal balance between comfort/aesthetics. Any lower and the ride would becomes harsh and unrefined.
MBZ MBZ I agree, this is done beautifully. Is it on lowering links? I have never done lower links before but I've done research and they're pretty straight forward. What measurement suggestion do you recommend for lowering link to achieve this tastefully done aesthetic look? I am planning on doing some wheel and tire mod soon on my SL and considering lowering links as well, all due to being influenced by all your SLs! I have always wanted to keep my ride height OEM and my 19" AMGs, but everytime I watch your videos, I am getting that wheel/tire and ride height mod itch! Haha
Sounds great! What type of mufflers are on the car?
What is the exhaust configuration?. Heathers, mufflers...?
That sounded awesome - thanks for giving me the perfect build recipe!
Appreciate it! The x-pipe alone makes a significant difference on this motor.
Same here!!! I've been looking for someone to share the secre5 of making an SL55 AMG finally "RUMBLE" like the muscle car it is! 👍
IDC what anyone says. Best AMG coupe of its era
رو و ووو عة سيارة مذهلة فعلا علامة المرسيدس فوق جميع العلامات الاخرى
The best or nothing 💪🏻💪🏻💖💖
I have a 2006 S55 but I am lusting after a nice SL55 with Airmatic.
Lovely car
Love that sound (y)
Fantastique!!!
Sounds perfect!!!
Amazing sound bro!!!
Perfect
Beautiful car ❤️
Thanks for another great video. So tell me your story. Do you just look for nice SL55's ....modify and detail them and sell them for a profit and move on to the next one. I really like your work!....Very Clean and professional.
very nice.... you must be proud of your machine
@fisherfast, I've been following your channel for quite a while and must say that I like your taste and craftsman ship you execute on all those Sl's, I myself own a CLS55 and I would like to know where you get your body parts from, i.E the grills and carbon fibre parts like rear diffusor... I'm quite hesitant in buying stuff from China as we know the fit won't be the best.
This thing is SIQ.
One of the best car sound ever , also Audi rs4 b8 similar sound …
My dream car
Well I must say I love that sound I still have my 03 sl iam going to improve a lot of things
❤️
So what is the current setup? You never mentioned. I need this recipe for my E55 AMG.
Sounds great! Is that puff of bluish smoke on startup normal for these cars? My 2006 SL55 will do this on occasion, and always has me a little concerned. Thanks!
Bluish? I don't see blue.
🔥🔥🔥
Whats the average cost for this set up if you do not mind me asking.
what exhaust system did you use for this video?
May I ask what rear diffuser and spoiler those are?
Very Nice, coming from sl600 driver
looks like this guy has one of the expensive pearl, looks n sounds beautiful, enthusiast from los angeles.
I need this
Where did you get the rear diffuser?
Sounds great. Doesn’t say which mufflers.
sounds mean, but did you lose any low down torque?
can you show the car from dawn
I've always been a sucker for V12s. Do you recommend getting a SL65 AMG? What has your experience been with these?
I've owned two SL65s, one SL63 and probably 15 SL55s now. If you're main goal is flat out speed and you do 90% of your driving on the highway, then the SL65 is your answer. If you do most of your driving in the city and on backroads, then the SL55 is your answer. The power delivery and sound between the two cars is night and day different. The 65 provides a "wall" of linear power and the torque (especially when modified) is mind blowing. It almost feels like your in a time warp due to the 1000+ ft-lbs. However, the sound of the car is terrible due to being muffled by the turbos and their position in the exhaust path/stream. Even with intakes, catless downpipes, and no mufflers, the car was very quiet. The engine itself doesn't have any character and to me personally, it's a bit boring, especially around town with city driving. I love supercharged motors and their instant throttle response as compared to turbo cars. The supercharged V8 in the SL55 makes an incredible noise, has instant power at any RPM, and is much more fun for daily driving. Reliability between the two cars isn't that much different. However, the coil packs, spark plugs, and ignition module/transformer are weak/expensive links of the V12. Once you tune the engine, you're almost guaranteed to be replacing them shortly thereafter for around $3,500 just in parts.
FisherFAST i have a cl 65 amg from 2008 , i love the sound but its not that agressiv like a v8 sl 55 amg , maybe because the turbos your right. but i raced ferraris bmw m power and many other cars and i won. powerfull devil car
@@FisherFAST holy shit...15?!
65 is the real monster
W215 CL55 AMG next to it ?
ابدااااع الالمان تحفة
Wow !!😀😀😀 👂👂
Love how high it revs
If you ever owned one you would know these cars are always in the shop unless your good at fixing things. Tac-ing out the tachometer like that wrecks the : alternator, battery, aux battery, fuel pump, air flow sensors, and you definately don't want to create and oil leak or blow a gasket because the car won't be worth as much as the mechanic will charge you to fix that meanwhile destroying other non broken parts in the process.
@Asad Zee I own a 2003 SL500 you can believe me.
Frank Burdo Drums That sounds like just you. Everyone I’ve seen that owns 500 or 55 amgs says they are bulletproof. The AMG 55s are especially tunable.
@@Miguel-jm2pf They are especially breakable.
The SL 600 is the worst give the mechanic a blank check and the
550 and 500, better have a mechanic you can trust.
@@frankburdodrums8984 Lol okay. I'll take the word of many E55 owners over yours. It's widely accepted that they are pretty bulletproof. Just because you apparently have a lemon doesn't mean every other benz is as shitty as yours. You might not be caring for it, or you just don't know much about the car.
Do you have drone with this system?
So what’s the set up ?
Wheel and tire sizes?
What rims are thoseband size
How can I get this exhaust configuration? It sounds perfect to me
I would love that sound recipe please
Where r you located
I'd love to have the configuration so I could use it on my SL 500 2003
What is that rims?
going to toontown?
After 100 mph is when these engines really shine
..
Sounds like the Wraith
What are you rims?
Hello, great sound! Subbed! Can you please post a pic or video of the exhaust from underneath? I would like to replicate it. Thank you.
Shoot me an email at FisherFAST@hotmail.com. I believe that I have a picture of the main/middle section.
5g or 7g?
Mind sharing the mod setup?
Considering how cheap the older SL55 AMGs are I wonder why more folks don't hot rod them...?
You jokin' right?
KBB on a good used 2003-2006 SL55 AMG is under $10k. That's 500 hp under $10k in a car where the engineers say with only a few mods con yield in the area of 700 hp. Plus...its a drop top mannnn. Whats cooler than a 700 hp convertible that looks like it costs wayyyy more but don't. Just sayin... @@geluoniss
rliogghio because people don’t have the money to maintain them, I always have to have 2-4K ready for my e55 lol
What year ?
2003-2006
this thing sounds like a koenigsegg
nice work! By any chance do have a sl55 for sale
Thanks Shoye! This SL55 is currently for sale. I also have a silver 2003 with 25k miles, Deisgno Mocha Black 2003 SL55 with 45k miles, and silver 2006 CLS55 with 24k miles that will be for sale shortly.
Thank you for getting back with me on that. What city are you in.
Shoye Ferrell No problem! I am located in Pittsburgh, PA.
You are doing personal sales or do You have a car lot?
Why does this thing sound like a Hellcat? Compare it, you'll see what I mean!
Dodge sharring a lot of Mercedes-Benz underpinnings makes me wonder if the Hellcat block, though bigger in displacement, was at all derived from M113K.
It sounds more like a Corvette
What brand of mufflers and resonators
If you get a link send it
0:58 работает как двигатель на подводной субмарине
1:04 Sounds like it has a hellcat engine
Agreed!
@@FisherFAST yup Mercedes hellcat

To : Everyone.
Have you ever owned one of these cars?
Well I do. Just the other day, I went out for a drive.
It had been cold. So many lights and warnings come on. Fortunately because I take care of mine, they clear after a bit of driving.
Point is will you be so lucky? Chances are no.
These cars need constant care and need to be indoor garage kept. Period.
That's all I'm saying.
Good luck with yours and I'd you don't have one don't comment.
CLS55. Electronics a bit touchy. Like yours, usually turns off after a minute or if I disconnect battery.
Other than that, I’ve had zero issues with it at 110k miles of hard driving, even with a tune and pulley.
That sound like a challenger lol
Stupidest thing to say
It do you damn fool
@@0to60_ no, bitch, what kind of English is that as well??
The scary thing about those SL's when you step on it hard the motor revs that tachometer to the max.
You need to use the semi automatic transmission because you don't want to rev out 1st and or 2nd gear unless you want to reck the car mechanically or just by crashing it.
this is a 500 bute not a 55
Hi gays good Germany car ineed 1 sports car..😊🎉
ى
No no no noooo ....... It sounds like an American muscle car. Only American muscle cars sound this meaty. Now your car is a gentle giant German car. Yes there should be thunder there but only when you request it for what ever strange reason. Your car has nothing to prove. Everybody knows your car has everything including the thunder on tap. But each to their own, American sound effects on a gorgeous German beauty.
