- Hello everyone! It's been awhile since my last SL55 upload and I apologize for that. This white SL was actually completed back in April of 22' but I never got around to uploading the video for it. Unfortunately during that time, I lost a lot of the good video footage that I had on this beautiful SL. The quality of this video isn't the greatest due to that, but I wanted to at least put up what I had to showcase and preserve this amazing example of a custom built SL55.

I'm drooling over this car. This is the same color combo I want with mine. I just found one... with high mileage but it's all good. Everything works and I'm sure the M113k is in good condition. My car will look like yours except blacking out of it the badges. I can't wait to have her in my possession

Love seeing these builds! Did you ever have a problem fitting those new wheels / tires into the wells, seeing as you usually increase the overall diameter by about an inch, along with lowered suspension? I assume no ABS issues either

Meant to say as well. I installed the carbon spoiler on mine, completely divides opinion on SL forums. I think the back really needs it. Good job (again 😁)
Agreed! Really love the subtle SL63 style spoiler. The larger ducktail and hich kick style spoilers look out of place IMO.

Love your videos! The cars you build are spectacular and reconditioned to another level. Been an AMG enthusiasts ever since owning my 1st one 7yrs ago. Nothing like AMG power. Had M156 cars but been in love with this M113K platform. Old school true AMG! I was curious what it costs to make something like this white car. I want to get an SL55 and make something similar. Questions; 1) What are the specifics on that lithium starter battery as I'd like to enjoy those weight savings? 2) have you considered non-conventional cooling (ie Killer Chiller set up - use AC system)? I run that in lieu of supplementing the conventional factory heat exchanger setup and consistently achieve 10-20 degree subambient IAT's, You know better than most what that means in terms of maintaining power during hard pulls on these cars!

Thanks William for the great feedback! I don't have the battery info handy but will relay that info to you in short time. I can say that it's unbelievably light and starts instantly.
The AC cooling options for controlling IAT, along with methanol, are certainly a tempting option. I've looked into using something such as that more than a few times.
However, I try to make each car as reliable and worry-free as possible. Some tuners won't even tune for methanol due to the possibility of user error (forgetting to fill tank, etc). The AC cooling systems work great but rely on the actual compressor and AC circuit being at 100% operating condition. If I remember correctly, the compressor shuts off during WOT as well.
Having a healthy and upgraded style stock cooling system (air 2 water) works well for 85% of drivers and is dead reliable. Exception if you live somewhere where it's always 90+ degrees obviously. I've been very satisfied with the operation and IAT's at 15 psi on my cars. The idea of 50 degree & under IAT's on a 90 degree day with AC cooling sure are tempting however! 😁🤔

Mega homerun with this one. Simply Stunning. The white is so bright and pops so much I was going to ask, "Where do you keep the batteries?" This is as close to a fluorescence white as I have seen. Have you heard of Killer Chiller or have any experience with this? Will this be added to the next SL55 to reduce intake temps?

I have problems with the seats leaking air on my SL. Have you noticed this on the cars you restore? Do you take the seats out and repair/replace the air bags?

Hello sir, I have SL55 '05 with weistec supercharger with 62.5 pulley, 82 mm throttle body, Kleeman long tube headers, upgraded radiator, upgraded oil cooler, ice tank in the trunk. Custom tuned. The car made over 630 whp, but the thing is there is a hiccup which kills the power for a split of second as if the throttle body closes or some sort of. Have you ever came across this issue? If so, how did you solved it?
Hello Jassim. Sounds like you have quite the SL there 👍 Do you have the ability to data log your car during a 3rd pull? You can log throttle, Igniton, IAT, etc, to see what's going on. Could be something as simple as an air leak after 82mm TB install or more complex such as knock that's pulling timing.

Hello SLOP. Easiest and best bang for the buck would be an ECU tune, 77mm pulley, and cooling (additional heat exchanger and better pump).

Hi Mustapha. I use mid-length style headers for my SL's as I need to run cats. Long tubes on the SL place the cats under the car/floorboard which would scrape on everything.

Why rims are so big? None of m113k can start without burning tires. I found that you need smaller rims with larger sidewalls to mimic dragsters in order to get more power to the road...
Strictly style points. 20's look perfect on this bodystyle when lowered just a bit IMO. Even with a hair under 600 wheel horsepower, the 295/30 rear tires still provide plenty of grip for all but the most crazy street driving.

Depends on how far down the rabbit hole that you wish to go! These cars are roughly 30% restoration and 70% customized.

Definitely! However, I just take a break from time to time and work on other cars to break up the monotony. Just finished up a Range Rover Sport, have a Porsche Cayenne Turbo I'm working on now, and a CL63 in the garage waiting after that. Then I'll come back and do a couple more SL's. I have a great recipe now that I apply to these SL's with consistent results 😁

Also any other recommendations for pulley and tuning.. .i want to leave it stock looking but have the performance upgrades.... Also amazing car and build! WOOT
Thanks Kevin! 🙏 Currently taking a small break from the SL world but will return in a few months. Building a full stainless dual exhaust from scratch is a time consuming process. I've got probably close to 30 hours into fabrication on these systems. If you do an exhaust, headers are a must. Makes the sound much much better than the stock log manifolds.
