- This 2005 Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG has driven only 29,500 miles and has been customized by FisherFAST.
This vehicle would be considered a Stage One Plus as it is mildly modified. The modifications consist of methodical power upgrades along with subtle but aggressive cosmetic upgrades. A HUGE maintenance/service has just been completed on the vehicle bringing it back to like new for years of trouble free driving (please see complete list at 1:44 - 2:02 in video).
On the dyno, this SL made 490 horsepower and 560 lb/ft of torque at the rear wheels. After calculating for drivetrain and accessory power loss at 20%, the power numbers are estimated at 588 horsepower and 672 torque at the engine.

An awesome treat watching your video, as always. I very much appreciate the quality work and creativity you put into your builds. It's great getting this kind of inspiration and knowledge that I can use on my own SL55. Thanks so much Brian!
Thanks for the support and great comments Backside! Nice to know that these videos are helpful to others and hope that they inspire some creativity.
Your builds are absolutely spectacular! Keep up the great work.
Appreciate that!
So clean nice job man👌🏼 I love the SL55 amg
Thanks Pezzow! 🙏
very tasteful modifications that make this car pop. Great job.
Thanks Jay! The SL55 stands the test of time.
Fantastic work Brian, you are a perfectionist when it comes to cars which I like to see. The subtle mods are amazing, I’d love to give you my 2003 SL55 to overhaul it and freshen it up with some of your mods especially the carbon fibre trim inside which I’ve seen on other SL’s that you’ve done, the wheels also really change the look of the vehicle...only problem is I’m in Australia! Keep the videos coming, really enjoyable. Thanks.
Welcome Back! Weve been waiting 😎😎😎😎
Appreciate the warm welcome Oliver and it's great to be back! 😁
Words fail me. What an absolutely superlative vehicle. If at all possible Brian, they just get better and better.
Really appreciate that Ian! The beautiful design of the standard SL makes it look easy 👍
Beautiful! I own a 2013 Lexus ISF but I remember seeing those SL-55's a lot when I lived in NorCal. Always liked them. Absolutely torque monsters.
my goodness, amazing work...
Thanks Mike!
Hoping to own one of your builds one day! Great Work!
Thanks Tristen and let me know when you're ready! 🙏
Another great example of an SL55 AMG build!!
Appreciate the good words Aaron!
Excellent motor, hopefully mine will be back on the road soon.
Hope that get some some driving time before the snow flies!
HI there, very nice car, you really are improving what is a great car already, love the subtle touches that you add to the car, the engine bay looks fantastic and so do the brakes. I have watched most of your videos and I’m thinking of buying an SL Sport Edition once I sell my 2005 Boxster S as I want the AMG look and may take inspiration from you. How hard are the two black trims each side of the rear window as like you say they do age badly.
Interesting and informative 🇯🇲
Gorgeous ❤️ car
Great Work.
Wonderful job and great presentation! - I have a 2005 SL55, brilliant silver with the performance pack (owned it from new), so I got a big kick out of watching this!
Just need to sort out those retractable roof flaps on the rear shelf (always an issue on the older cars) and it'll be perfect...
Thank you for the great comments Ashley! What a treat it must be to have bought this car brand new and still have it to this day. That says a lot about your ownership experience. You are 100% right about the flaps. I always change the flaps with the updated thicker steel flanges and rear boot to window rubber seal when I get these as they're always bad 👍
My own car in the UK...

Es precioso ese coche, me gusta desde que salió. Suerte amigo desde España.
Brian I’m curious where you purchased the rear glass triangle pieces that tend to Fade, peel Clearcoat problems .,, is that a dealer item? Where do you purchase your rear diffusers for your SL’s ? Thanks for all your wonderful videos. STEVE
Beautiful car !!! Nice wheels !!
Appreciate it Walter! It's amazing what a set of new wheels can do for the curb appeal on this car 👍
@@FisherFAST yes ,it is , the wheels make the car look way better , great choice!!
Beautiful!!! Where can i find those headlights, or new lenses?? TY!
Hi Brian.
I have watched all your shows, love the cars.
Do you have a list/post displaying where you get all your carbon , from?
What model is the flat bottom steering wheel?
Cheers from Australia
P.s please keep making videos on the SL R230.
Where did you get the panel triangle pieces for the back window/item number, and I'm suprised you didn't do the custom cold air intake you normally so any reason why? Thx good job btw
@FisherFAST Do you know what ET those wheels are and if spacers were used? They sit perfectly. Were any arch mods needed? Looks insane! Good job man
Very nice work I totally appreciate the attention to detail. I have a 2009 SL63 And was wondering if you have done something similar to this in one of those? Also where can I get a black hood emblem for my car. It seems that every where I look they have the more modern type that has a button mounting bracket that you push out of the hood, mine just has the two clips that push into the hood with rubber/plastic grommet.
Jimmy - i had the same problem. here you go....
eBay item number:333573358569
I also got this for the back -

Hi Brian. I have a 2005 SL55 in Alabaster White. I really like the modification that you have done to the headlights. Is this something you would be able to do for my car? If so, what would be the process and cost? Would you need me to send my headlights to you first or would you just use mine as a core replacement? Thanks, Mike
these cars age so well they are timeless in design and built like a train
I'm certain R230 was the last generation SL with a spare tire. For that reason alone I would only buy the R230 gen. There's many other great things to love on top of that.
What is your secret for removing stuborn rear brake caliper bolts? Thanks in advance. I am very inspired by what you do to SL55s. Thank you for sharing.
OUTSTANDING, Brian nobody puts the kind of Love and Passion into an SL like you do❤ , I did notice that you didn't do the carbon fiber mirror caps and the stereo mods, any reason why?
Thanks so much Jeffrey, really means a lot to hear that! This SL is mildly modified in comparison with my past few SL's. It combines all of the maintenance and a little bit of the performance/aesthetic flair from the fully built cars. I'm wanting it to be a stepping stone in the market for someone that may not be ready to commit to a full build but still wants something unique and customized. I'm reserving some of the more costly mods (both performance and cosmetic) for the fully built or higher staged vehicles.
@@FisherFAST COOL 😊
Awesome car👍
what headlight bulbs did you go with. do you have a link to the bulbs?
You still working on SL 55’s and how much do you charge ?
So what's your opinion/experience on the M113K or the M275 AMG ? They both kick ass it seems, but 1000+ ft/lbs of torque from the V12 seems pretty phenomenal.....
How much for the upgrade, I'm interested!
this is awesome! I own an SL350 in the green/grey colour but those wheels man they really make a difference, do you know if it's possible to ship those to the Netherlands? keep it up this is great!
Thanks Nitro, the wheels are striking in person! Reach out to Tim at Stance wheels and reference my SL and name. I'm sure he'll take care of you 👍
FisherFAST thanks pal once sorted I will send you a picture
Hey great build, is it possible to get a build list for the cls55 you did two years ago
Thanks keep up the sick builds
Thanks BK! I'll have to look back in my files and see if I can find the data on that CLS.
FisherFAST awesome man. Just followed you on Instagram
I would like to know where you got that split cooling reservoir please? Can’t read many of the mods on video. Thanks
Hi Kristopher! That tank was a custom piece.
this is really nice. I ordered 2 split cooling systems. VRP is good and I got that one. I also got this one from Project B5 and Brian's coolant tank reminds me of the tank I received with Project B5 kit. here's the link - www.projectb5.com/product/pb5-m113k-amg-self-bleeding-split-cooling-kit
Thank you for the videos. how can I contact you ?
Would love to see a pre facelift SL65 amg build from u
Would love to do another 65. I did a black 2005 65 a few years ago that's on the channel here 👍
Have you tested 0 to 60 and/or 1/4 mile?
Man, I want my SL55 to sound like that...
I'm in Virginia, and I would like to reach out and get these engine mods just need a price
this is an absolutely beautiful example i love this car lol
Thanks Mr Tamw! Unfortunately good examples are getting pricier and harder to find each day.
@@FisherFAST tell me about it
the name of the rims ?
Whats the price of the vehicle?
nice work!!!! but please next time try not to move your camera too much when recording, it makes people get seasick.
wow I’m shocked. The car is NEW

I’m watching these videos trying to get a passion for these benz but I can’t.
I sold my e92 m3 for my 2003 sl55 and it’s the worst mistake I’ve ever made. I am putting it for sale soon as I get back and can’t wait to get back into a m car.
These cars drive like Cadillacs with a motor…… 0 driving ability whatsover
