    I am VERY excited to finally be able to share this cage project, it is one I have been planning for several weeks and I am so happy with the way it turned out. This cage will soon be home to a new member of our furry family and you'll get to see more as we come closer to bringing them home. This particular pet is one we have had before but not for a while and we are so excited to have another in the very near future! 😁

    • @lorrannedepeche5163
      @lorrannedepeche5163 Před 7 lety +7

      This cage is not appropriate or safe for a sugar glider. Sugar gliders must have tall cages (double critter nation or congo cages are best)
      They MUST be kept in atleast pairs, and males must be neutered unless you have a lineaged breeding pair.
      For correct sugar glider information go to www.sugarglider.info or join the "sugar gliders" group on facebook

    • @BexMcInulty
      @BexMcInulty Před 7 lety

      Simmer in the cold❄ you have to have at least two gerbils. this cage is not appropriate for gerbils anyway

    • @blossombuddies2875
      @blossombuddies2875 Před 7 lety

      Rachel Mayrhofer I was thinking that too but someone said hedgehog and I think that may be more realistic for how the cage looks as most mouse cages are very high and have a bunch of things for them to climb on. Someone else also said gerbil which could also be a good guess. I was thinking guinea pig too in the start but it seems small as she always seems to offer large cages

    • @rachelmayrhofer9642
      @rachelmayrhofer9642 Před 7 lety

      Ik im late but I know plastikote is safe but it's expensive for how much you get, I've been doing some research bc I need to seal my gerbils lid as the dust is coming off and it's not good. I've found another paint, rust-oleum painters touch, the one in the tin, on the label it says certified child's toy safe, which means it should be safe for animals. It's also low VOC which is good. It's £9 in B&Q for a 250ml tin so it's much more cost effective than plastikote. Hope this helps

    • @SomethingAnimal
      @SomethingAnimal  Před 7 lety +5

      The boarder walls are 60 x 20 cm but you will need to work out the measurements for the windows yourself as they depend on the thickness of the wood you are using as well as the height of the back piece you are using :)

    I'm guessing mice! It can't be a rabbit or a guinea pig, because the cage would be too small, and it can't be a rat since there isn't any climbing space, and I doubt that you'd be getting another hamster.... So, yep! Mice it is! xD
    EDIT: However... you said "He or she", implying that you'd just be getting ONE of the animal.... and since female mice cannot live alone..... ah man! I'm stumped again!!! xD

    I love how at 1:26 the simple thing to do would be just to walk round the piece of wood but Erin thought no the best plan of action is to try and belly flop on top of it

    I've found that using sticky back individual floor tiles for the inside of DIY cages works very well. This can also be cheaper and look nicer if you don't already have contact paper. Just a random thought. I love your videos, Erin! =D

    I feel like it may be Degus, but i.m not too sure because in a video from years ago, i remember Erin mentioning that exotics are really hard to provide for in Cyprus so a lot of Viovet orders would have to be made. I LOVE the cage so much! We know that it is an animal that urinates though! ;)

    I'm currently thinking of hedgehogs but they could be difficult to care for where you live. So I have absolutely no idea! Looking forward to it though! Sending love from the uk xx😘👍🏻🇬🇧
