  • Today in Randomland we have a change of pace as we pay our respects to the man, the myth, and the legend that was Walt Disney. In November of 1966, Walt wasn't feeling like himself, and checked into St. Joseph's Hospital across the street from the studio, only to end up having a lung removed, and only a few weeks later, passing away.

All my life I've been a huge fan of Walt Disney, and while he wasn't a saint by any stretch of the imagination, when the facts are laid out, he wasn't a villain either. There were many Walt Disneys, depending on who you ask, and whether one chooses to see the myths, the legends, or the man, he certainly remains the embodiment of a rags-to-riches American Dream story, and inarguably brought a smile to the faces of millions if not billions of people for generations past and generations to come.
So come along as we visit and pay our respects to the humble, final resting place of one of America's greatest visionaries, Walter Elias Disney.
For those wishing to learn more about the man behind the legends, I highly recommend Neal Gabler's book here: www.amazon.com/...

As a kid my parents and I would drive up to forest lawn to visit my grandparents gravesite which is in the flat area in front of the George Washington statue and my dad would tell me Walt Disney's grave was nearby. My father was a man full of random facts and had a way of telling stories that sparked your imagination much like Walt. When he passed away 8 years ago we held his memorial at the little church of the flowers :)

Justin.. your level of respect and tone in this video is impeccable, especially with someone at your age. I'm proud of your example here. I've been watching your videos and I must say I'm delightfully entertained by the Disney history coupled with your wacky craziness... but through all that craziness, I can tell that your actually a very mature and respectful young man and it shows by your change of demeanor here. I'm definitely subscribing. Keep up the good work and videos! You gonna be there on July 17th? I will be too.. (Hopefully I won't have to sleep in the parking lot again)! Maybe I'll see you there! Take care and God bless. -Anthony

My grandmother Barbara Lewis Lombardo, great grandmother Ruth Ann Lewis & great grandfather Homer Newton Lewis are all buried at Forest Lawn Glendale. It's a very beautiful cemetery, with fascinating statues, landscapes & churches. I almost feel as though I'm visiting The Huntington Library when I'm there. I must admit I went to visit Michael Jackson's grave back in 2009, people left so many trinkets, flowers, letters, drawings & pictures... it was qutie a site to behold. The man behind one of the most recognizable companies, if not the most well-known, in the whole world. Mr. Disney was a joyful man, very smart, very creative, and had a warm heart towards creating things that kids all across the globe would love. To this day, Walt Disney is recognized for everything that he and his team did, and with only three circles, dominated the planet. I have been to Disney World Orlando once, and I saw that statue of Mr. Disney holding Mickey Mouse's hand. Truly a remarkable man to honor. I remember seeing something online where Mr. Disney himself would attend the different parks and ride with the kiddos on the various attractions. Truly, I can never be more thankful to have gone to such a magical place. And Walt Disney was the absolute genius that started the process. He will be remembered. He was buried in a beautiful and peaceful place, where people can visit the man himself one last time. To pay homage. To pay respects. And to smile, knowing that the man who started it all, is resting there peacefully. We love you, Walt Disney. We will never, ever forget what you started. Everything you did will be forever in our hearts for time to come. Thank you, Mr. Disney. And thank you, LiveFastDiePoor for making this video. It's wonderful to learn where famous people like Mr. Disney are laying in peace.
