Headset Mic Quit Working After Windows 10 Update

- So after a recent update to Windows 10 all of a sudden my headset microphone was no longer being recognized in the game I play or in Discord or other apps. I tried all the usual trouble shooting stuff and none of it was working. Thankfully Google is there and showed me the setting I hadn't thought of checking. If you're experiencing this same issue here's what I learned so you can fix it in 1 minute and not feel like a dummy like me. :)

Man, thankyou! I forgot that I intentionally disallow microphone and all unnecessary permissions. After watching your video, i just had to enable the permission and it works like a charm. :)

I know this is over a year old and that this update has been patched over by now BUT it still works. Spent 2 hours uninstalling my drivers and re-installing and trying different USB ports. This fixed my issue in 30 seconds.

Then just for a test, under "choose which apps can access your mic", I turned ON every option listed. Now the mic on my headset is working. Thanks again for your video.

i was on windows 10 home and my headset mic was working but when i installed windows 10 pro it stopped working even though its plugged in correctly the mic keeps coming out the pcs built in mic which is extremely quiet and my headset mic is still not working

Then just for a test, under "choose which apps can access your mic", I turned ON every option listed. Now the mic on my headset is working. Might be worth a try. Good luck.

Jesus christ thanks I even ordered a new mic after trying for days to get it to work, the mic blocking setting apparently also blocks for the control panel (stupidly), so when testing it appears that my mic just doesn't give any sound, thanks windows (not). Props to you for enlightening people with this.

My laptop is an HP ENVY 17-M CH000X (released on june 2021)... After an update I can't use any of my mic to record sounds or make video calls. However, I can use them to talk to cortana (alexa)... I can see the line moving when I speak through the my mic, but it wont be picking up sounds. I've already spent a lot of time try to resolve, but I can't. The built-in mic isn't working, neither my usb headset (arctis pro pc)
Interesting. I'll keep that in mind once I get a mic. (I'm probably one of the only PC people who doesn't have a mic) :P
I'm not a fan of mobile UI's in some ways and for me this is one of those painful reminders how they're turning our beloved PC UI more like mobile. 😢

I'm using a HyperX Cloud with an advanced audio control box (USB) which worked fine for any app including games and discord. But when I recently updgraded to windows 10, I can't use my headset microphone on any app! I tried this video, but sad to say, my problem is still the same. Need help!

Hi my laptop is not using my headset mic. It has been for like 6 months now and after a windows update, the laptop just uses the laptop mic. On control panel, my headset mic doesn't show up. What do I do please help
I have the Trust GXT 310 Radius gaming headset which works on my Xbox One both speakers and mic but on Windows 10 the headset works but the mic doesn't for some reason but i have the latest drivers installed, the device is enabled, privacy settings allow microphone use and is set as default device yet the mic only pics up output audio from my headset speakers and not my voice idk what else to do

I’m having an issue with my wireless headsets where if I have a mic enabled I can’t hear my game volume but once I disable it the in game volume comes back. I’ve tried two different wireless headsets and the same issue has occurred any solutions?
Hello, my laptop has one port(both for the mic and for headphones), it used to work before, i just plugged one of them and i could hear and others heard me perfectly.Now it doesn't work anymore.(i though there was a problem with my headset, but when i plug them with turns separately, it works.Can you give me some help?
So im playing Sea of Thief's on windows 10. My mic works perfectly in Discord and i can hear no-discord players through my headset in game but only the people in discord can hear me, all permissions are turned on, Discord is synced to the XBOX app all the settings indicate that my headset is connected yet people still are not able to hear me unless they are in my discord? plz help
I got a new pc and when I loaded up discord and plugged in my headset in the bottom corner it said mic in or headphone so I don’t know if that’s the issue

same issue with my mobile. i just bought a Bluetooth headphones, everything works but not in the game chats. i can hear their voices but they can't hear me. i did the same setting as u did on ur PC still not working.. what to do 😞
Im have the same problem but its with the Xbox app on my pc. ill open the xbox app on my pc and go into a party and they said they can barely hear me do you might know how to turn it up so they can hear me?

I know this vid was 8months ago. But i did experience the issue on this date. And i can't allow or turn on allow my microphone. Because as soon as i go to privacy setting and click microphone, the settings will crash. Any solution for my problem. ? Thanks if you'll notice my comment.

my microphone is on all of the options for talking in different apps like discord and stuff and it still does not work and idk whats happening it was working on my old pc but not on my new pc

Hey, recently ive had some issues with my mic and now it completely stopped working. When I plug it in, the lights dont turn on the way they used to, when i plug it in, my computer doesnt find my mic (it doesnt show anything). I've tried this with a laptop as well, it did not work. It doesnt even give a message saying that there is a new device detected or that it isnt recognized. can you help me?

@cuhz i bought one and it works perfectly, just choose headphones speakers pin as headphones(which will be still showed as speakers in audio devices) and mic's pin as mic in realtek sound pannel
@@darky799 I don't have separate jacks for sound input and sound output, it's just one jack with a headset with mic attached logo beside the jack

I have no idea why my mic isn't working on win 10, I can here anything but mic is on and FB calls I'm told I sound like a robot. idk what setting are messed-up but its really annoying, also if I play heroes of the storm or StarCraft 2 I can't here any audio any more.
i need help, im using windows 11 (or 12 idk) and there is a whole unclickable section of apps that say have access but whenever i try in the mic test in the game settings it doesnt pick up at all, but it barely picks up in discord, my friends can hear me but i have to scream to get a faint audio signal.

i am frustrated i m going mad i feel like smashing this dell inspion laptop every time i install latest realtek hd drives and asks me to restart to take effect i do so the new drives is there for 5 mins n then automatically it goes to old version and on top of that when i try tosetup headset microphone doesnt work atall its always on laptop mic i have no option to turn it off what should i do OH n ya every thing is on camera microphone everything is on in setting>privacy its on... Hi, can anyone help me? I have an Acer laptop and i noticed that when i use earphones and plug them into the jack (it has a single TRRS jack) I can hear normally but the pc runs the built in mic, which is crappy, and not the one of my earphones. So yesterday i got the logitech g432 headset, I plugged everything by USB but the mic won't work. I tried everything you show in this video but still can't solve the problem. The green bar of the level in control panel, audio is always low.

Can you help me to solve another problem..? I have a Bluetooth headset with mic... When i used a Bluetooth adapter to connect my headphone to pc... My sound quality was really bad. Then i figured out from internet that i need to disable the handsfree option in Bluetooth options... Finally headphone got its sound quality at its best. But another problem popped out that my mic (integrated with headphone ) won't work... The solution is turn on back the handsfree option in Bluetooth settings !! sacrificing my sound quality...Is there a way to get sound quality and mic working well ???
Not working on my system as my headset does not come with software.
My TeamSpeak app is allowed to use my mic, but no transmission of my voice is going through my headset mic and into TeamSpeak, and as a result, no one can hear me.
so ive been using this mic for 2 on ps4 its the hyper x cloud alpha and it still works on ps4 but when i plug it in to my acer core 13 laptop i can hear fine but its using the mic built in to the laptop I've watched a few of your videos to try and figure it out but theirs no luck. i went to the sound settings in control panel and the microphone default HD audio device is checked off and the green bar goes up too. but when i go to listen to my self talk the mic on the headset does not work. but when i get close to my laptop and talk close to it, or tap on the mic spot on my laptop the audio works from there. so idk how to get the mic working on my headset instead of my laptop mic. (keep in mind I've went on my ps4 and checked if it works and it still does) (i also just did what this video said, and went to allow access for my mic and they were already all on, i even turned them off and on and it changed nothing)
I just recently bought a IBUYPOWER PC for gaming. I can't seem to get my mic to work, but I can hear just fine. I HAVE THE PERMISSION FOR MY GAMES TO USE MIC, but nothing I have changed everything to default settting , I HAVE EVEN BOUGHT THE 35MM SPLITTR FOR MY ASTRO A 40 HEADSET AND NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK. When I connect my sing cord 3.5mm headset into the Jack I can here the output audio but my mic won’t work when I go into the Realtek audio console the mic in option seems to be disabled can someone help me fix this problem

Using Roccat Kave analog 5.1 headset with mic, have tried all software solutions ie uninstall and reinstall drivers etc. windows privacy settings app settings and advanced options et and so on. so fat nothing has resolved the problem?

pretty much all the google solution are this... still the same problem my mic doesn't work. my laptop just received mic from the laptop. even i allow or not. i dont know what else to do :(
i wish this worked for me. unfortunately, in my case, my headset shows up as speakers but no recording device. it's that way now with any headset i plug in. i'm so confused
