If you have a mobility scooter that is beeping 7 times, that can sometimes mean that the throttle potentiometer is faulty. To test a throttle potentiometer, you just need to know how to measure the resistance with a multi-meter. Which is exactly what we will show you how to do in this video. The process is quite simple. First, you must test the two outside wires with your multi-meter in the resistance setting (OHM's). The reading that you get from the two outside wires should be around 5 when its set at the 20k scale. After you test the outside wires, you want to test the middle wire and one of the outside wires with the same setting on your multi-meter. While the probes are connected to an outside wire and the middle wire, you should test the range in resistance while swinging the throttle paddle in each direction. The resistance should go up and down smoothly and gradually. The range should equal the initial test reading which you took when testing the two outside wires. Follow along with this video to test your throttle without having to pay a technician.

Thanks for the videos you do there great . I have looked for a video about removing the fork and greasing the bearings when taking the tiller apart and unplugging the wires I do understand. When separating the fork off the tiller is it like a bicycle ? Thanks
It depends on the model you have, most of them. You just need to take the bolt and nut off the front wheel if it's a three-wheel model. If it's a four-wheel model, there's usually just one bolt that threads into the axles. You don't really need to worry about disconnecting any wires to grease your bearings.
Thank you for the informative video!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, can all be connected to the terminals for testing, like separating the control unit to see the speed control and potentiometer all connected, and testing as they are, or do you have to disconnect the units to get a reading.? only in the neutral position my multimeter reads. 3.8 on the throttle potentiometer when altering the speed the reading goes up a down and different readings when moving,
and wondered if that shows a faulty unit.?🤔😊
You don't need battery connected to test resistance.
What is the rating of the resistor on the centre wire of the throttle control? Go-Go Elite Traveller (straight handlebar version)
The video we used is actually the same potentiometer. Just follow along with the video.
Probably 10K
