- Sweden has cleared what looks to be its last major hurdle to becoming the 32nd member of NATO, after Hungary's president signed a law Tuesday allowing the country to join the alliance. Hungary is the last NATO member to give its backing after Sweden applied to join in 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. CBS News foreign correspondent Ramy Inocencio has more.

correction Hungary delayed cause of the swedish opinion that democracy is being dismanteld in Hungary. With their undemocratic elections and so on, both by swedish news and in the EU parlament this have been a topic the last years in Sweden. The kurds was Turkeys way delay it. It's more than opinion, Sweden has been a driving force in criticising Hungary in the EU repeatedly. Which is a good thing, as the democratic backsliding in Hungary is obvious to everyone and Orban's flirting with Putin is, to put it mildly, a security risk. Hungary saw an opportunity to silence Swedish criticism, and were then partly caught with their trousers down when Turkey accepted and they were left as the only ones opposing, which I don't think they had expected to be

@@poet4727 Finland didn’t win. They lost both the winter war and the continuation war. However, the Finns punched well above their weight in both wars which allowed them to gain peace with concessions and not total annexation.

I am Norwegian and live in Sweden. Even three years ago people would ask me about Norway and Nato and be puzzled how it is even possible to sell our souls to the US AKA typical narrative that the KGB so successfully nurtured in the 80s through their massive prescense in academia, the Labour and Communist parties, the “peace movement” and later in the green extreme factions.
Most people in Sweden are nostaligic to a neutral time but in relaty we stoped to be neutral the moment we joined Eu even our military has worked with Nato for many years
