I absolutely agree with you because I also think Christopher Nolan is the greatest director and film making ever. I've seen all his movies and I've got many books on his films, his philosophy and books on the art of his making of some of his movies. I think Inception is the greatest film ever done in Hollywood history... BUT this year (at least) Del Toro surpassed Nolan's Dunkirk, even when Dunkirk is awesome, but if we gather all the elements that make great a movie, The Shape of Water incorporates more elements than Dunkirk, especially the screenplay (I mean the Script), and the way he performed the whole film making process. Del Toro created the whole world seen in the Shape of Water, and Nolan took 3 perspectives from a historical event. Both films are great and any of both directors could win the Oscar award next February. Thanks for sharing your opinion.
