    Hi. Did you have to use a preservative in your diy because of adding the aloe vera gel? I sure want to make your recipe! 😊

    Does it works for kids as well? Just wondering because all those oils you put in the recipe are really good for all the ages. Just to be sure I am asking. This is going to be my first time trying to make body butter your recipe is really good one very well explained including proper measurement.

    Aloe Vera gel adds water. Don't you need a preservative when you add any water?

    • @ritastreasures
      @ritastreasures  Před rokem +17

      Only if you are using fresh or organic/preservative free aloe then I would recommend adding some (Germall Plus is my go-to).
      In this recipe I opted to use a store bought aloe gel, Fruit of the Earth. It's alcohol free and already has the preservatives needed. It works exceptionally well with this recipe! I have not used fresh aloe since lol (been making this exact recipe for over 4 years).
      Great question, thanks for asking! I need to update my written recipe to talk about adding a preservative if using an organic or preservative free aloe gel.

      Nope, feel free to swap out oils! You can substitute additional almond oil in its place.

      @ritastreasures  Před rokem +1

      @@raneshaleblanc2824 i would recommend using this right after washing your hair. while this cream is on the softer side of homemade shea butter it is still thick, so you would want to use it to seal in the moisture. a little goes a long way!

    Can I add vegetable glycerin to this? If so, how or how much?

    • @ritastreasures
      @ritastreasures  Před rokem +2

      hi @bettyspencer3120
      you can totally add vegetable glycerin to this recipe! i would recommend altering the recipe a little to add in the glycerin in 2 ways, either:
      substitute the coconut oil with the glycerin (2 tbs) OR
      instead of using 1/4 cup of castor oil, use 2 tbs of castor oil and 2 tbs of vegetable glycerin
      hope this helps!

  • @SheabaButters
    @SheabaButters Před rokem +1

    I made this recipe but the measurements you provided do not work because I follow everything and the final result was too loose and oily
    I couldn’t even use all the Aloe gel because the butter was too loose.

    • @ritastreasures
      @ritastreasures  Před rokem +1

      Sorry to hear that! This could have happened if the butter/oil mixture needed to be cooled longer.
      I like mixing a glass bowl and placing it in my freezer until the top layer at least hardens. The cold bowl helps with hardening it further while blending in the aloe.. Taking it out too early will result in a runny mixture.

    That's a lot of Aloe. A full bottle

    • @ritastreasures
      @ritastreasures  Před rokem +2

      That's because the aloe helps to achieve the super fluffy and airy feel of the body cream. And that wonderful absorption.
      Aloe is FULL of amazing benefits for the skin too.. it's highly moisturizing and acts as a humectant (draws moisture from the air and puts it into the skin). It also has anti-inflammatory properties - works great for those with itchy skin, rashes, allergic reactions, eczema, you name it!
      Of course you can always add less aloe gel to yours if you decide to try this DIY. Options are endless! 😊
      You can also check out my DIY webpage it goes a little more in-depth about the ingredients and why they are chosen. www.ritastreasures.com/shea-butter-body-cream/
