There’s a video on YT of a guy ranking all the creatures in All Tomorrows by how sexy they are. The author of All Tomorrows actually commented on the video
Altshift X
search "All Tomorrows Bang list" and its the first video =D
type shi
he also commented on another video abt how the book is an anti-fascist story, confirming the idea
@@rotisseriepossum somehow.. I already like this author
“Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.”
Arthur C. Clarke
This book and After Man are really bizarre and interesting books to read.
I love these SciFi book videos! Glad you're still doing these, Justin.
CM kosemen is one of my favorite authors ever! I’ve been in contact with him and he’s a really cool guy, love to see more support for him as he’s writing a new version of all tomorrows!
Also I’ve been an all tomorrow’s fan for a really long time. Seeing people actually like the once extremely niche book makes me so happy.
Is that the same guy who wrote the three body problem novel.
@@hamzahnurreez8420 No, that was a Liu Cixin
@@iainballas oh thanks.
Theres a book called Mountain in the Sea thats a cyberpunk-ish story about scientists discovering a species of octopus that developed its own culture, language, and so on.
An examination of the Hegemony of Man in Dan Simmons' "Hyperion Cantos" would be a good video to see you do. Talk about the Hegemony, Technocore and Ousters, the Shrike and the Time Tombs, farcaster technology, and the pilgrims that tell their tales on the way to the Time Tombs.
We're so fucking back
All Tomorrows is one of my top favorite science fiction. Love that you are covering it!
Also, I listened to a lot of your videos as I was healing from Guillain-Barre Syndrome. I feel like I’m a Star Wars expert now.
Thanks for uploading these right on my way home from school. Gives me something to chill to before starting my homework!
Love to see you getting into Speculative Biology! It's a really interesting genre, and IMO, the best sci-fi has at least some elements of it. I'm going to go check out your Man After Man video now!
Oooo I LOVE All Tomorrows. Happy to be your first like and comment on this one!
Desperately wanting any channel to talk about the Keith Laumer Bolo series. Tanks with hearts of gold shooting through mountains to protect humanity, while being more human themselves at times.
As in literally military tanks?
@@carsoncas5355 Yes, but described as the size of a football field
All Tomorrow’s is so peak. I fuckin’ love the tragic story of the Mantelope.
I love this book! So glad people are still talking about it. It definitely needs a physical copy.
i was very disappointed when i found out there wasn’t a physical copy
Honestly love these kinds of videos keep em coming!!
I love speculative zoology/evolution, All Tomorrows stands out as my favorite work in the genre
Congrats on 1 million subscribers
Great video! Definitely thinking of reading the book now. The Stellaris music also goes great in the background
Larry Nivens *Known Space* Series.
It does have a multitude of "Human" species (living on the Ringworld) that are cousins, not descendents of Humanity as humans themself are a offshoot species of the original species.
The early Homid species that had a third stage (the Protector) in its life cycle that we no longer have due to the lack of a genetic virus that grew in a plant.... but we are still capable of transforming into with the right stimulus.
I’m surprised to you talking about All Tomorrows but I’m happy about it
I haven't read All Tomorrows, but I'm actually familiar with CM Kosemen and other work he's done. He's done a lot regarding palaeoart (aka art based on palaeontology), and even with Darren Naish and John Conway made "All Yesterdays", a book that has arguably influenced a lot of what palaeoart has done in the 2010s. The most interesting part is actually the "All Todays" section, which basically imagines a hypothetical future sapient species looking at present day animals and making the same common mistakes humans would often do when reconstructing prehistoric creatures based on the knowledge and biases they had. Hearing All Tomorrows be so tied to human evolution makes a lot of sense knowing what Kosemen's been involved in elsewhere.
you should cover roadside picnic next eck
Yes! My favorite book.
The most interesting humans to me are the Colonials, Titans, and the Gravitals
Omg I'm so glad your doing this!
I am so happy to see you cover all tomorrows!
My favorite existential sci-fi is Xenoblade X, dealing with the philosophical and ethical questions around the concept of (spoiler for a twist about 1/4 of the way in)
"What if humans lost their biological forms and became a robot species trying to coexist with biological aliens"
There's a variety of characters and plotlines all questioning if they're still "human" anymore, and what quantifies being human
Great video, happy to hear you do some none SW lore.
For an interesting story that I feel doesn't get much love. The Day of the Triffids.
It's probably one the best apocalypse stories and has some unique aspects.
Can you cover War Planets: Shadow Raiders? 4 very different planets in the same solar system whose people have physiologies as unique as the planets they were from. The 4 planets have been raiding each other for resources since forever, then all of a sudden has to work together in the fight of their lives against the Beast Planet.
I have been hoping you'd cover this one someday. It seems right up your alley
I'd love to hear more of your analysis on this book, you have a notably interesting take on it that is already apparent in this brief video.
If it gets away from the depressing nature of all tomorrow's. Messages the homeworld series or babylon 5.
I was hoping you would do more of such videos. I read Childhood's End and it was amazing.
I would love for you to talk about the Animorphs universe. That shit was weird, but great.
I thought this was one of the more fascinating sci fi books to come out in a while along with 3 body problem. I think it’s great exploring a great long history of humanity into the future. Like the book covers a billion years. Society goes extinct and revolves multiple times. It ultimately has a happy ending but only after hundreds of millions of years. It’s nuts.
If you are going to do a video on "Man After Man," you may want to include "After Man: A Zoology of the Future," both written by Dougal Dixon. He has written a number of speculative fiction books, but these are his best.
This book is really great, I love how the book flows and is so descriptive. The end message is really awesome too!
I would definitely like to see more on this from you
Should do the Manifold trilogy, with the Downstreamers and the Goddess of the Manifold.
I dont remember hearing anything about the humans weapons from this story
I would love to see you make some videos on warhammer. As a new fan, having a creator in already interested in covering it will help even more with my motivation to play and craft
@Eck, love your content! Could you do a video on the universe of Old Man’s War? I think that universe and humanity’s role in it is pretty interesting
I’ve watched so many videos on this book and I need to read it
Sithspawn. I don’t find this book available at my local library. And it’s not got an audio book format either from what I can see.
Watching ecks videos sped up is so hilarious lol
Factions compared idea sci fi insect swarm. Such as Tyranids, arachnids, Zerg, rachni, terminids.
Can you do a video on the Jensaarai? Including how Luke met them and convinced them to not be enemies of the Jedi.
Please go into this book more. I will read it for myself I just like content you put out.
You should do more sci-fi book stuff. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Hyperion or the last 3 books of The Expanse or Foundation (which I think the show adaptation of is pretty good even if very different from the books)
Please do more videos about this
I was watching a video about all tomorrow's the other day then this came out. Talk about a coincidence!
My oldest discovered All Tomorrows a couple years ago and had me read it as well. It is an interesting take on things for sure.
Could you do Geonosians vs Drones?
I’d love to see that.
Love this
Where can I find this book? I can't find it on Amazon audible b&n thrift or Google play even tried under the pseudonym he wrote under for it.
Dan Simmon's Hyperion cantos would be a cool fit for your channel
I would love to see someone expand on tbe lore of Farscape
I think you should cover something similar like either Last and First Men by Olaf Stapledon, or Man after Man by Dougal Dixon(The later being admittedly harder to find these days).
"All Tomorrows" Fan meets "None Yesterday" Enjoyer.
Is that a band?
I would love to see stuff on Murderbot or the Imperial Radch
100% go into more detail about this book it's wild and more people should know about it.
I would love to hear your take on Star Maker. It's a beautiful story but also sad
Would love to see a video for the movie Battle for Terra. It's definitely underrated imo.
All tomorrow is one of my favorite works ever
#EckMerch I'm still voting for a little plush of the Eckharts Ladder Shibu Inu. Even if it can't have the Imperial Naval officer hat, it should still have a similar hat. And maybe a squeak-box in the middle.
Have you read/heard the Expeditionary Force books? It was written from the perspective that a small plucky band of humans could not defeat aliens. Not dystopian, I love the series.
Eck, you need to read David Webers Honorverse series. It's sci-fi gold! I've read almost all of them, there are about 30ish books. I have been drumming around the idea of starting a channel for it, I'd love to help give you some insight
You should do We Are Legion from the Bobiverse series.
Could you get away making a corgi plushie wearing the Imperial officer cap?
If not, buttons, stickers, or decals with your logo would easily work.
Btw, have you ever seen the animated movie called Fantastic Planet? That is something that really follows your topic in this video quite well.
I would love to see you cover Babylon 5, it is an old series, but I think you might like the way battles are done in the show/universe.
as to the merch idea a eagle moss style ship of the blessed noodle merchant
Ooooh i didnt want to read books until this
Check out "The Long Earth" series of novels by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. It's about the discovery and settlement of a multiverse full of alternate Earths with only ours containing intelligence.
Also the Conquerors trilogy by Timothy Zahn. A series about a first contact gone wrong leading to war with a mysterious alien race that seems far superior militarily. I've from Timothy Zahn himself he is planning to revisit this series with at least one new novel.
😮 def wanna see more spec evolution
I’d like to see vitas carnis
Never heard of this before
If you haven't already covered it, I found Old Man's War by John Scalzi to be a fun read.
Can you do electric state it's a fun story about a girl and robot going across the states of America we're robots are left in ruins like military robots and mascots and even buildings with massive ads playing over small cities and they have headsets that let you play games watch tv but when they get stuck playing them they can't leave eventually they dry up and die they even used these headsets for war and they whould have war between each other I'm guessing it's confusing because the lore is hard to explain but I recommend you check it out and do a video on it if you want to
Does anyone have a link to where you can get a physical copy of this book?
In my opinion, a civilization can only come to such an advanced state once they realize that everything around them, is them, there is no other, they can only become so advanced once they achieve unconditional love for everything around them. So it’s interesting to see this human ego projection into this fiction of species, a civilization that sees itself as advanced and superior to everything else around it, yet results to the same exact tactics as it’s supposed inferior races: domination, control, condemnation, power, war-mongering, and all these infantile principles.
We must scour them from the stars before they do the same to us
Plz make “How to FIX UNSC(or Covenant) Fleets”
Imagine if the Qu somehow broke into the Star wars universe. I can see them teaming up with the sith sense the sith can also modify organisms into horrible monsters through sith alchemy. Sure the Qu would get double crossed by the sith and the Qu would cause so much havoc and death across the Star wars universe but, still it would be cool to see a Jedi fight a Qu.
3:15 STELLARIS MENTIONED
Would you do a video on Armor by John Steakley?
how about Andromeda Strain for a future SciFi video?
all tomorrows is one of those fever dreams you thought were only in your head.
Starship Troopers would be great!
I think that a plushie of your logo would work well as merchandise
Best timeline.
LOL first heard of this through Alt-Shift-X, never figured it’d be what would united GoT and SW fans.
This reminds me of 3 body problem, except on steroids as the aliens are already far beyond our understanding.
Ah yes, Spore's Creature Tweaker
Qu was worst than Thanos since Qu never had an inch of sympathy.
All Tomorows is messed up. Imagine a super advance race just turning the essence of humanity into a play thing. Imagine if Humans turned the genetic essence of dogs to whatever shape and purpose they fancy, pretty disturbing when done to humanity.
The hell is "all tomorrows" why does it look horrifying, and why do I love it.
Oh fuck YEAH!!!
Hadn’t you already made a video about this?
You should do the gem race from steven universe
#eckmerch
When you said "literally anything" my mind instantly went: a car called "e ckar". There's been a real lack of spaceship looking cars recently
#eckmerch
I’d pay for a plushie Arcona made to look like it’s ramen noodles
