Interesting that you are doing vermis now. Been on vermis for a while. Also it seems like only the two of us think/ know that D'arce is the tainted one. Keep it real.
@@cronenbuilder277 unfortunately Darce/Domination Tainted theory is hard deconfirmed thanks to all the soul types being officially revealed
Finally someone makes a good Vermis Lore video.
there's surprisingly little coverage of these books on youtube
@@MautheDoog I had only just heard of it because of SuperEyepatchWolf which was just a portion of the thing anyway so this is a real treat.
He's a seasoned Fear & Hunger lore scholar so its not a surprise
What is a Vermis?
@@MautheDoog I always figured Vermis would be right up your alley. Have owned the books for quite a while and was wondering why there was so little coverage of it online
i bought both volumes from a comic store in London and couldn't stop raving about them to my friend who accompanied me. my ADHD rant ended up talking two other random customers into buying them 😂 fantastic works of art and a must have for horror/dark fantasy enthusiasts!
Best commendation of a book series, 2024.😂😂😭😭
My mate did a homebrew rpg based in the vermis world in a mork borg style and it was incredible. So thankful for this world!
This is my favorite theology channel.
we love talking about gods here
I absolutely love vermis!
I bought both the first and second book, and also i was the first one - in the world - to buy the hardcover editions of both hand signed by plastiboo himself (who visited my town about a month ago at an independent art festival)
I am so happy that finally someone did a good vid on vermis's lore, so more people can discover this hidden gem.
How I envy you
This is brilliant, thanks for calling attention to it 🙂👍🏻
* 'severed head', never 'decapitated head', those two words don't stack iykwim
Decapitated = head removed, you can't remove a head from a head, doesn't make sense.
☝🤓
The two hardcover books together is 95.88 usd kill me now
The prints when available should be around $20 each. Be on the lookout for reprints by joining their newsletter.
Worth it tbh
I just looked at Hollow Press and the Forsaken editions are just over 35 USD each.
I have the PDFs
Internet archive is your friend
King's Field 4 is the perfect soundtrack for Vermis. Speaking of which, everyone should check out Moratheia.
Yes
Thanks ill check it out... also lunacid is pretty good
@@isayaragnes8066 i loved Lunacid, what a banger. the dev (KIRA) also put out a small less-known game on itch called "Basilisk 2000" which is worth checking out
@@isayaragnes8066
You can play Kings Field the ancient city and Shadow Tower Abyss on the PCX2 emulator, go do it because they are far superior to Lunacid.
Beat me to it lol
Edit: friggin love that game
These books need be to turned into a game in the style of shadow tower in would be amazing
I wish for a tabletop game, with a randomisable board and action cards. But it could be a videohame all the same.
This is right up your alley! So stoked!
The choice of music is simply divine. Much reminding me of reasons why I first started listening to dungeon synth. Oh i just so wish i found out about these books before the first one became sold out!
choosing the music took a long time so I'm glad to hear that
@@MautheDoogThere is an awesome project here on youtube which tries to imagine directly what the music in the Vermis games would sound like--ridiculously underrated imo
@@jedyzichterman358 Yeah those tracks are great
Everyone has praised the original work and the video aplenty, as they should, so I just wanted to mention that the transition from the thumbnail to the video was both very much appreciated -as it makes the thumbnail something beyond an interchangeable click-grabber- and wonderfully done. Really got me.
Besides that? I guess nobody has expressed directly that the video is just concise enough (not that I'd complain if there were even more information!), speaks of various aspects of the world and it's all structured just perfectly to fit both the overall theme of the work and smaller details along the way! Immediately fell in love with the work and it was all thanks to this.
Thank you very much!
I found this video by looking for anatomical info about the vermis of the cerebellum and found this. This shit sounds sick
I’ve had the thumbnail as my lock screen with no knowledge until now, it must be fate
plastiboo is such a good artist what a fun way to flesh out a concept
I ordered the books last week, very much looking forward to the video!
NICE love this style of videos. I think that this and your video about the sulfur god are the bests ones.
Also I want to recommend you two obscure games to play on stream and farm lore. "Age of decadence" and "The pale city".
Age of decadence is an old rpg with a small cult following that relay heavily on player options. The setting is a post apocalyptic roman world where the ancient empire collapsed after a war between interdimensional gods and demons summoned by magi-tek. You can follow different routes that can be completed through social manouvering conspiring your way to victory.
The pale city is an obscure rpgmaker game with a unique combat system that requires a little bit of mastery were you can't just spam attacks your way to victory (in a sense similar to Fear and hunger) and you need to use counter attacks and parry.
The synopsis of the game says it all:
"...A world where children aren’t born-they crawl out of tunnels in the ground. A lone city, beneath the gaze of a silent god, home to strange cults who eat the dead. The Pale City is the story of a mercenary hired to find the last, most powerful artifact of a sorcerer who disappeared lifetimes ago. But the search pits him against powerful people in hidden places, towards a secret buried somewhere in terrible darkness..."

I have no connection with the developers by the way, just think that followers of your channel will appreciate this type of content!
Cheers!
wow they look pretty cool, I'll check them out
First SuperEyepatchWolf and now Mauthe Doog, I am FEASTING with this Vermis content. One day I hope to own a copies of the books, but until then, I'll be rewatching this a good few times.
What video does supereyepatchwolf talk about it?
@@tdbla98The Bizarre World of Fake Videogames
This video is exquisite. I've never heard of this series, but I've watched this video like 10 times already.
Please keep making videos like this. ❤
OH. MY. GOD.
WASN'T EXPECTING FOR YOU TO MAKE A VID ON THIS OUT OF ALL THINGS AT ALL
HECK YEAHHHHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH
Fuck yes, Vermis is such an achievement in indie creations. I have both books
Using the Face Shrine theme?
Nice touch.
EDIT: Oh, just throwing in all the creepy video game music from the 90s and early 2000s?
Man, you ever considered making a tier list of horror, spooky tracks of non-horror video games?
I have been looking for an excuse to use handheld zelda music for a long time, and that song fit perfectly
@@MautheDoogTo be fair, Face Shrine is good. So simple, but effective.
Really like the music choices here.
@MautheDoog
Fun fact if you didn't know, but the author also made Spotify playlist to act as a Soundtrack for Vermis
My hardback copies of I & II arrived while I was out of town. I can't wait to get home and find out which flesh is my flesh 🙌
your lore videos feel pure
Omg YES I bought both volumes (soft cover) but have never heard of anyone else knowing them this video makes me so happy
I have never heard of this book series before, but just the vibes of this video's opening has me intrigued
PLEASE DO MORE ABOUT VERMIS I NEED TO FIND MORE ABOUT THIS AND U NARRATED IT SO WELL
No idea what this is or why it was recommended to me, but I’m hooked!
Just nabbed the second volume, first is sold out but I'll be watching! This looks amazing, thank you for getting the word out and the review. :)
This is the exact vibe and feeling of what I want to make. Very inspiring. I'm sad that the books are sold out right now. It's dark and unsettling without being vulgar.
I remember I met Vermis through Trevor Henderson and I loved the art and concept, specially the Aspect of the Dream but I forgot to look it up, what a good find, this video!
very nice lore explanation, i'll consider looking into this Vermis dark fantasy book series
Never heard of this before. But I think you do it justice in relaying the intrigueing story.
Ohh what a treat! Thank you for taking us on this journey...
It was my pleasure, these books were great to dig into
Literally ordered my copies of the Forsaken Editions two days before this video came out, actual perfect timing lmao
I hope you make more of these, i found Vermis because of you. I bought the second book but the first one was sold out unfortunately. I keep checking your channel, hoping you made a follow-up. Great video, thanks for making it.
I remember playing Vermis when I was eight or something on my grandma's old computer. I think my cousin used to play it too, but he doesn't remember much either. I remember that I found it quite unnerving as a kid, mostly for the sound design, because I found all the monsters very cool. I am sure I stopped at some kind of swamp or forest level, I couldn't beat the weird frog monsters that summoned undead.
Yeah, it's hard to beat monsters in games that don't exist.
ikr right, this game hard as fuck, especially when u finally geet into the silver swamp. The sleep debuff fucked me up too many times.
@@citizen_grub4171 so was there ever a vermis game or not? Two people here talking about playing it. Are they just confusing it with something else?
@@travisjohnson622 They're messing with people like you. Vermis is a series of books written by Plastiboo.
@@citizen_grub4171 fun police
So glad they made a second book
Plastiboo is such a legendary artist
Just got the second one in the mail a few days back. Its bigger, and the aspect ratio is different… really excellent stuff
been waiting for this, can’t wait to see what you figure out next!
This is how A lore video is done. Cheers
recently got the limited edition hardcovers of both books because i gave my brother the normal ones... this shit rocks so hard
Absolutely love this video! Thank you so much for covering Vermis, I feel like it doesn’t get the praise it deserves! I’m so excited, I’m gonna be running a D&D Vermis session soon and your video has me even more hyped! XD
Ok, we need more of this as soon as possible!
I'm glad you covered this!
Seen so much art from this and always loved it, but never knew what it was. Glad I know now!
I have to let you know, you made an absolutely intriguing video! The music, pacing, slow and steady presentation. It is perfection man, you made my whole week with my newest micro-obsession! 💫💫💫💫💫
thank you!
Vermis kicks ass and I'm glad you decided to explore it.
Amazing. We've been starved for a Vermis lore vid. Ghylak's mercy upon thee.
Also fantastic use of the King's Field soundtrack. We love to see it.
This was brilliant especially the audio track
Thank you so much for covering these books, I love them
As someone who's read both books and is eager for more - this is a wonderful breakdown, thank you!!
thanks!
NO WAY!! was rewatching supereyepatchwolf's video earlier today because i couldnt get enough of vermis, so glad this showed up on my feed ❤ thank you
Holy shit that is some great video

I like the music you chose
Amazing. I truly find works like this aweingly inspiring.❤
I would die for a game of this world. Its so engrossing
Great quality and awesome lore can always put your stuff while doing stuff
I’d love it if you made more vermis material!
This looks amazing!
This is absolutely amazing, I've never seen these before. I had never heard of this before, but I have to get ahold of these books.
This video resonates so much with me that I already watched it like 8 times
This is awesome, I can't believe I've never heard of it. I want to read it now.
looking forward to the next one!
I came to your channel because fear and hunger and I stayed for these incredible videos, nice work!!
thanks!
unexpected video but loved nonetheless !
glad to see you pick up on the lore of this masterpiece
I love Vermis! So wonderful to see it get more attention
I bought the books a few weeks ago. Thanks for making this video
I got a copy of vermis! Only the second book cuz the first wasn’t in stock but! I had seen a few art pieces of theirs before, but now I can be properly obsessed. It’s so inspiring as an artist and writer I’m 💃💃💃
God damnit, once gain Doog found another god sent Dark fantasy stuff, this vid made buy it ! love your work @MauthDoog on top of it has Dread delusion vib to it.
Very good video!
Make more please.
First time I saw these books, something told me I needed them both of them!
I think this is going to unlock a new obsession for me 😅 but the art and the concept are amazing!!
I bought these and never regretted for a second.
can't wait
This is awesome 😍
I have both books, 2 copies of the second one actually, it heavily inspired my current DND campaign
would love these hard back
Never heard of this... SO COOL
oh yo! I saw a picture of the first six gods a while back without any other context and completely stole the names and pictures to use for background lore in a DND oneshot I'm running in June since the sight of it got my creative juices running. Glad I got to find out the original story.
LESSS GOOOOOO
S i r
I have never seen your channel before but I have been WAITING for this video for ages, thank you
I never heard of this at all.
Damn, I'm gonna read those.
Dude im totally enthralled, I need more vermis!! Will subscribe Fer mer vermis!!!! Gert mer mer vermis!! VEEEERRRMISSSS!
Just received my hardcovers today. Perfect video.
i love this book to death but tryna convince people to check it out is a bit of a challenge with having to buy it, wait quite a long time, then deal with the spotty availability
with a video like this however, its gonna be real easy to give a good glimpse into the pages. fantastic video bro! this is gonna be my new go-to when i wanna rave about Vermis to someone.
Thank you very much!
and already sacc'd my wallet on the hardcovers this is some sensational worldbuilding in this i can see why you made a lore vid on it
A very necromantic aesthetic. My favorite kind.
i need to get these uughhh. people are so creative
Shout out Plastiboo, gotta be one of my favorite genders
I hope you'll make another video cause this is pretty interesting
I'm thinking about it, but since there's only two books out there's only so much to cover unfortunately
@@MautheDoog yeahh true I'll eventually check out the books myself and hope we'll get more books
These books are sooo good! I wish someone is working on video game based on them. Some old school dungeon crawler or even something with souls like combat would be great!
