In my head there's this happy place where Jack, though severely injured, survived the attack and Ennis, upon hearing about it, sold everything he could and left to Texas, without doubting it for a second, to take care of his lovie-dovie. Afterwards they settled together in a cozy cabin atop Brokeback Mountain, herding sheep of their own. THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER AND NO ONE WILL EVER SINK THAT SHIP FOR ME! 😐

The Notebook breakup scene makes me BAWL. But you explained it wrong... her parents' disapproval plays a large part in their split, not just the fact that she's studying in New York. They think he's trash and that she's far too good for him and he starts to believe it himself.
It hurts because you get used to it but once they hurt you over and over it only gets old and it makes you sick. Sometimes a breakup is an amazing feeling of liberation so in the end you are left with happiness
