the guy who got pulled over clearly sucks but the cop is 100% out of line-- this cop is scared and his ego is huge which is an extremely dangerous combo
The cop tazed the guy with his hands up, and again when he was in cuffs on the ground. Easy lawsuit to win with the civil rights violation. Slamming the wife down was excessive force. He lacks the temperament to be an officer.
Follow lawful orders during a traffic stop, don't get tazed. Get a brain transplant.

Cops like this should be stripped of ALL rights to ever serve in LE. This one in particular, should not be left to roam the streets, he is a threat to society. This officer, like others, is what is wrong with many in LE, they do not know the Constitution, and their oaths mean nothing. I hope this couple wins in their legal battle in this horrific case. Totally appalling, to say the least sickening to watch people being treated worse than animals. Training? None! Is the entire department this way? God bless the couple. The Deputy should serve many years in prison.

There’s no law that states “you must remain in the car during a traffic stop” and most times, cops ask the victims to get out of the car at some point.

Hands up means nothing. I've seen dozens of these videos with the suspect had his hands up and next thing you know he's fleeing or shooting at the officer. Orders to stay in the car are given for a reason.

Lots of things could happen. Your paranoia is your problem. But if we want to go the paranoid route, we could observe that there are many dirty cops out there, so maybe the driver should have preemptively neutralized the officer, because he couldn't be sure if this was a good cop or a bad cop. You gotta stay safe out there, after all... That's the reasoning you're presenting, but is that the kind of world you want to live in?
And look, orders were given, nobody disagrees. The man was standing when he was told to sit. There are penalties for disobeying that order, but getting tased is not one of them. That's not the law and it never has been. Instead of using the taser, all the cop had to do was say, "Turn around. You're under arrest." You know, the same thing the cop ended up doing anyway. But he was trigger happy, because that's the kind of person he is.
I don’t understand why the officer went after the female with such aggression.
She was fleeing from him and did not follow orders to stay in the car, she brought it on herself. He told her what would happen if she did not get back in the car, I would have listened.

I'm as pro-law enforcement and as anti michelle lujan grisham as they come, but this deputy escalated the entire situation. There's a reason all charges were dropped and he was placed on administrative leave. He completely lied to his lieutenant (or whatever their title is) regarding how it escalated. Bad apple in my opinion. Out of the other side of my mouth, after the deputy escalted it, the two perps should have kept their mouths shut, but the deputy was the instigator.

Who knows what would have happened if he hadn't though I've seen crazy things happen in a blink. Also in retrospect the guy said he had all of his paperwork which obviously wasn't true🤔

I am a huge supporter of law enforcement and I have 10 years of experience and I have to say I cringed watching this. The guy should have got back in the car and shut up but. I het e to say but I think this is a little much on the deputy.

If this was a simple traffic stop the man in the car should pull over, shut the car off, and put your hands out the window...simple. But no he had to get out and argue with the officer. Even if the man meant no harm the officer did not no that. Had he followed instructions it wouldn't have ended the way it did.

While he should have gotten back in his car when asked, the cop escalated this WAY too quickly and WAY beyond the scope of force needed. This is a speeding ticket. Even if the guy had a warrant, things still didn't need to go to such an extent as he was not being combative.
At the same time, the guy's wife also made things much worse than they needed to be.
That said, this officer probably needs to be relieved of duty as he is the professional in this situation.

That was for the man or the woman that charges is still pending as they are saying she lifted her leg up and that was resisting resisting what I don’t know cause she didn’t do anything wrong but anyway supposedly they found drugs in the car . Like I said the man’s charges are gone and this officer is on leave.

He did not comply with a lawful order to get back into his car and got tased for it. All of this could have been avoided if they had just complied and acted like adults. Why jump out and start running your mouth and calling the officer names then resist being put in cuffs over nothing. Makes me wonder who far the officer had to chase them before they pulled over.
Tasers are meant for Less Lethal, per NM code, not for compliance when no weapon has been shown. That invalidates everything you said. Officer is looking at a hefty lawsuit.

Driver came out with an attitude. This puts cop on alert pulls out tazer. Guy wouldn't listen to lawful commands. Cop alert goes higher. Guy attitude goes higher. Cop begins to fear of an attack. Deploys tazer. Guy still (after he squeals) has attitude of "righteousness" now. Cop should have immediately called for more backup asap and wait, but instead cop begins attitude (whether through fear or anger, you'll have to ask cop) and tries to handcuff driver. Driver's attitude skyrocketed and blew up and began further non-compliance. Cops attitude skyrocketed and tazers guy again.
Long story short, if driver would have left the attitude at home to begin with, this wouldn't have happened. No sympathy for either of them.

@@barbiebabe4495 the problem I see is, under the current system officers are trained not to engage in conversation or explanation, namely they are not verbose in their intentions and it's mainly to prevent roadside arguments as well as protect the case of charges from technicality litigation. But the state dropped the charges anyway, like always. I just feel people would be more compliant if officers responded with factual statements including their derived authority under statute numbers so-and-so, to quell the emotional confusion and elicit resigned compliance. "Thank you officer, you make a strong argument."

I am inclined to understand this officer who did not allow himself to be embroiled in argument with them. When you watch these copscam 9 times out of 10 the suspects launch into argument over and over again, a moment giving the officers patience finds an end.
With what the officers found in the car they was better to shut up and obey to the officer orders.

This was excessive force no doubt, the officer didn't have to approach the male driver who was already standing outside his vehicle. The officer could have stayed at his unit door giving the instructions to remain in the vehicle. However, the officer chose to approach leaving himself in the open to use that as an excuse to use force. The female was standing a good distance away and could have been ordered to sit on the ground or whatnot but the officer decided to go after the female like robocop and act like she was a danger. Then you can just tell that when the other officer arrived the main officer swings the female to make it look like a struggle just to have something on her to charge her with. That officers explanation of the story was a little off about what really happened, so that alone would get the charges dropped.

Well no. The cop had no authority to order the female to stand farther away, or anywhere at all, or to stand or sit. If she had physically interfered, he could have arrested her for that, but she didn't. Remember, obstruction is a physical act.
