THE FAIL: another first for me. Interestingly I know exactly what happened. When I passed the oncoming traffic I saw an empty road ahead of me. Therefore I allowed myself to brake a little later. After the first downshift my brain somehow thought I hit neutral instead of first gear. That's why I immediately started an emergency brake maneuver instead of holding my line. All of this took place in a quarter of a second probably. It is all done subconsciously. This false feeling of having hit neutral probably lasted for a tenth of a second and still it was enough for me to immediately react. Because on the bike there is no time to hesitate. I'm glad I could keep it on my side. But even if I would've gotten carried into the opposite lane I wouldn't mind too much. Some of you might be saying now: "but you would've been dead if a car was coming your way!!!" which is right probably. The crux is that with oncoming traffic I would never hit a corner this hard. Riding quick-ish on public roads asks for a lot of caution and thinking for all others. You have to evaluate every single corner while you're riding. If it's clearly free of other traffic participants you can enter that tiny bit faster. If it's not you enter with a bit more caution than usual. Just stay relaxed and calm all the time otherwise you'll probably end up in the woods or fields rather quickly.
***
HAVING FUN: I enjoy wringing out bikes. That's why liter bikes don't make too much sense for someone like me on public roads. I also enjoy braking hard. As soon as the bikes' engine is all warmed up I just like to grab the thing by the neck and give it a good spanking. But that's not how you ride quickly. I'm much quicker when focusing on riding as smoothly as possible. Although on a road like this you definitely have to use first gear all the time on such a small 4cyl bike. Because below ~8-9K RPMs there's basically NOTHING happening power-wise.

And yes, that very last clip was me inspecting the "damage" after returning from the OX ride. I thought I had scratched the exhaust itself. While actually most of the marks where in front of the exhaust, on this weird cover plate. Never seen these things "scraped" before.

DISCLAIMER: I totally manipulated the bike's ECU so the speedometer would show completely random numbers instead of my actual velocity. In reality I never exceeded 62 kph. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Personally, I like a more upright riding position and sport fairings because it's more "sport-touring" and better for long rides than a sportbike where you're always bent over on your wrists. I enjoyed your GSX-S750 videos and wondered if you had a CBR650F video. Awesome, man! There are precious few videos of these bikes being pushed hard - everyone's so tame and lame. Your videos are great. Subbed.
thanks a lot dude
It never ceases to amaze me how fast you can ride a bike around corners Schaaf. You have bigger balls than me mate! Hope the CB is back scraping soon👍🏻😎
thanks a lot Nelly! The Honda was back in action this weekend!
This is the first video of yours where I noticed mistakes (I don't go searching for them). Usually you are spot on. Scared me early on, thinking you were going to run wide after entering the corner to quickly or tightly. Anyway still heaps of fun to watch! Looking forward to your new stuff whenever it will come out, I am guessing next spring?
Macht echt Mega Spaß dir beim fahren zuzusehen! Speed Four sei dank hab ich deinen Channel hier gefunden :P
freut mich sehr!! Danke!
The Engine sounds smooth as butter, and your throttle control Expert mate!
thanks
Hey Schaaf,
Heute eingeschlossen...
Was die 600 4er angeht: fahre selbst ne GSR 600.
Danke dir!! Speed safe, jawohl!!!
Love your riding man ! wish I get close to it ! I rarelly watch a video start to end , yours always !
thanks for that :)
Awesome vid as always and MOAR HONDA !!!!
thank you!! Soon!
Good you also show your "mistakes". It shows you, you have to keep a clear head. Great video again Schaaf. Tomorrow i'm riding a Honda for the first time (1996 CBR 900 RR), just for a test drive.
awesome!! Enjoy the test ride!!
i love CBR's.Nice ride,perfect video as always!!!
thanks man!!
Always moar Honda! Thanks for taking us along!
Glad you enjoyed!! Thank YOU!
Very nice! Maybe I'm a slow reader and alone in this, but I think your text messages should stay on screen significantly longer - I can never finish them in time 😅
thanks for the feedback! Since you're one of the few who complained about this I won't change it for now. But as soon as more people start to tell me the same I'll adapt! ;) You can always hit the Pause button though!
ive had the same problem in multiple video's. I replay and then i see more of your edits as well
Same!
I'm that slow at reading that I only just got here 😂
I think the 'F' stands for the CBR600f'ingSchaafisGoingToWringItsNeck model ,
lol !!!
moar Honda pls ;)
Hahaha 👍
Probably! ;) Thanks Dracati!
Nice, nice, nice... nice!! Im waiting to see you on bigger bikes or sportier small ccs! Great ride once again! Cheers!
me too! I'm doing everything I can to get my hands on different bikes but it's very difficult unfortunately :(
Thanks for sharing this fun ride Schaaf!
Have you still not ridden the Suzuki SV650
As you stated below in the comments? If you have
I’d love to hear your thoughts or better yet ride one!
I did. It's nice
You drive like a monster! Amazing skills bro!
Thanks for the visit
i wanna see you on an sv650 tbh on those windy roads
hahaha, gut erkannt!! Danke, Ed!
These type of bikes are best for touring because of the fairing and the riding postion actually there is a whole category of sport-touring bikes. The CBR 600 F was allways more on the sporty side but it is quite usefull for touring also. But as you saw you can use it also on twisty roads like this quite easily. I have a Honda CBF 1000 which is also a sport tourer and i use it for comuting, touring and having fun on the twistys and it performs well in everything. And BTW I love your videos and you have great drivnig skills and these roads are great, I'll have to visit Austria and make sure for my self
I don't get why they build em in a way so the neutral riding style (body in line with the bike's lean) feels best and most comfortable while at the same time not allowing lots of lean. I was shocked to see how quickly the exhaust plate cover is touching down when not riding hang off
Ich glaube also, da geht noch was ;) Danke dir, Artem!!!
ich glaube, was mir mein Hintern vermittelt ;)
brilliant riding (as always) mate. Been on this road yesterday on the opposite way, from Mariazell, but the asphalt was slippy and scary as f*ck after all that rain. Excellent road though and thanks to you I've experienced it. Will be back for sure! :)
ps: moar honda pls :D
yes, you need to ride it in the dry!! Thank you!
Make your friend change that exhaust dude!
Great ride as always, and moar Honda pls of course!
I told him the same thing but since it's parked on the street he can't change the exhaust. Aftermarket cans get stolen more or less immediately. Thanks, Filip!
Ending was the best :D You scraped its bottom
nice ride, I also like the less annoying notification sound :)
Dang that is nice you seem to be right at home on just about any bike in the corners!
thanks mate :)
You should offer your services scrubbing in tyres Schaaf, I have seen some sportsbikes that hardly get leant over and have massive chickenstrips!
mhhh yes that sounds like a dreamjob indeed
just get my wg 3 axis gimbal on your advice great choice thanks!
awesome! Enjoy!
I rode my friend's Gixxer 6 with helibars and it was still uncomfortable. It also had an odd power band where it would suddenly come on like a two stroke at 4-6000 rpms. I am so used to my CB500F. I don't need a street bike with all its power on top. The 500 is the perfect motor for backroads...and she does just fine on the highway. Great video. I like the 600F BECAUSE it is comfortable.
yes indeed the 500 engine is basically all I need on backroads too :)
YES!!! It's a scraper!
Almost a 'how to schaaf a bike' tutorial :D Nice!
How far off are you from fixing your little Honda?
+megaidiot ahahaha nice one :D
+Piiitek it's basically done. The oilpan turned out to be the only minor issue actually and it's the only thing which needs to get fixed still. I'll be taking off tomorrow :)
That's great to hear! :D
Lovely video as always, just one question if you don't mind, I really want to learn how to kneedown when I get my bike (assuming I get an appropriate one), how did you bring yourself up to finally kneedown (just a general idea of how you went about it would be nice)? I'm scared of breaking my bike and crashing or something... I'd love to go on tours and do fast rides like you... cheers.
thank you! I'm not joking but this is how I learned to put my knee down: the only advice I had was "try to kiss the side mirror" because then my body positioning allegedly can't be too wrong. That's all the info I had for how to ride hangoff. It felt incredibly weird and still does but apparently I'm doing it more or less right already.
But there are many YT tutorials on this. I'd consult them if I was you :)
Cheers, I guess it depends on the bike, I guess it doesn't feel as horrible when you buy a cheaper/older bike to start, thank you for the advice. I might just have to get a harley and be mature :D
EXTREME!! I will watch a video with any bike you ride. That might be a cool series. "Loan your bike to Schaaf to get rid of your chicken strips.. and foot pegs."
I'm trying to do just that for years actually. Slowly people are trusting me enough to lend me their bikes. Although I can't testride too expensive modeis naturally ;)
Ahaha; I see the ad already; "The Schaaf Treatment; so at least your bike doesn't look like a poser!"
Awesome :) Thanks for finding a way to upload even without your bike in working condition, moar Honda Pls :D
thanks for noticing my efforts :)
MOAR HONDA PLS! Nice ride and nice video as usual! 😊 The small 4-cylinder engines are designed for people like me, who ride gently 80% of the time and more aggressively the remaining 20% 😇 We normally stay at mid-revs, and drop a gear (or two) when we want to make it more exciting... The 3-cylinders engine are the ones designed for people like you, who ride gently only when the engine hasn't reached yet its operating temperature 😉😄
ahahahaha thanks for the explanation :D
For me ... one of best drivers I found on you tube....
thank you! Although, apart from a few exceptions, the competition is not exactly tough around here ;)
I often look at moto reviews here on YT and I find it funny how someone can review the bike by riding it just in town. I think you should do some reviews on your favourite roads and give new models some propper treat. :)
I tried with the XSR but people didn't like me reviewing bikes apparently.
ps: moar honda pls
danke dir :)
I have a cbr600f4i with sport touring tyres and i have set it up to steer very quickly. Unluckily stability is gone. I bet you would consider it interesting to ride.
probably :)
cbr600f is same bike than naked cb600f. Handle bar + plastic covers make only differences
Fit a set of suitable tyres and it will be much safer.
we all
thank you :,) Soon!
Moar honda pls! also you should try to put your hands on a CB650F or CBR650F, its kinda different how its 4 cylinder has all the power low down on such a small displacement.
would be interesting for sure!
nice ride! pls try aprilia shiver!!
I would love to!
Dude, now I know why your quality looks so unique. You use filmconvert. Is it difficult to use and only exclusive with adobe products?
EDIT: I also feel like you're still messin' around with it to get it right because when you come into the sunlight, it's a little over exposed.
Film convert is really easy to use, but it's not the only one solution now and there are a few other plugins that work well (like 'film' from red giant).
+Diefullah FIlmconvert indeed is very easy to use actually. I'm not messing around at all, the GoPro didn't do any better :) You would be able to pull down those blown out highlights with a raw and uncompressed video file in post production maybe but certainly not with a heavily compressed h.264 file. And since I only started using filmconvert very recently I highly doubt it what makes my work look unique :D
Best sounding stock exhaust i have ever heard
it's my riding style ;)
in line 4 are not the best sounding engines. only Yamaha's cross plane sounds a bit better.
+manuel grohse personally i like I4 the best
Is this video accelerated?
Think of it this way: small 4 cyl. bikes like this are aimed primarily at 2 kinds of people: 1. the guy or gal who is getting on their second or third bike after their 125/250cc learner. For this kind of person the bike can be slow enough in the to not be frightening and capable enough once it gets going to not bore you off it too soon. And 2. The more mature rider who's been riding their whole life and loves to ride hard without getting into unmanageable levels of trouble. For this person that has both the skill to ride something you have to push hard and the knowledge that they don't need break the law too much to have fun this bike and others like it (FZ6, Hornet, Bandit, GSX-F, etc) are great because they allow you to work your riding skills at speeds/fun levels higher than a small twin/triple and with a wider fun/trouble berth than you would have with a supersport. For both these people these bikes offer better ergonomics than a superbike and better wind protection/rider comfort than a naked, have better performance than a similarly sized ADV and are nowhere near as loutish as a Supermoto. And yes, MOAR HONDA PLEASE!
I understand everything you're saying and yet it makes no sense to me :D Well. My taste in bikes is very special, admittedly ;) Thank you!
+Schaaf Yeah your taste in bikes is pretty well formed by now. and you sure did spank that CBR. For the rest of though like me who started on a Bandit, got on a Hornet then went back to tge Bandit, crashed it and hasn't been on a motorcycle in 4 years our tastes are still forming. I'm looking at both a CBF500 twin and a Hornet 600 to buy...but I can only get the Hornet if I can sell my car by the end of the year. Oh to be 25 years old with no stable income!
I get rid of my 2003 Fazer 600 soon. Although being reliable and capable, i don't get excited on it.
I just need a proper exhaust note, a noticable engine, better biting point from the brakes etc.
The KTM 990 SMT and Husqvarna Nuda are far up my list.
Got to try so many more - there are just too many out there :(
well luckily the trying out part usually is quite fun too ;)
fantastic!
thank you!
got a 92 cbr600f as my first bike, this year. I think many points will match the new cbr600f
why i like it:
1. money ->it was cheap to buy in good condition, cheap on gas, and reliable
2. the engine is supersmooth all the time
3. it has like no torque under a certain rev-> it wont surprise me
4. it can go fast if you want to
5. windshield is nice for autobahn (wich is like meditating for me)
6. it just fits my needs in all of its compromise
7. it seems that there is a certain type of cardriver, which feels provoked by the sportish and girly look of a bike in a coloursceme designed in the 80s(violet,pink,blue,black)
and so they want to race me :DD
seems you've made a good choice :)
this is a perfect first bike. it ticks all the boxes, looking cool and sporty, handling easy, forgiving for beginners. it is great to have such a bike first, because anything more aggressive that you get later, will feel much more enjoyable.
IMO the CBR600F is too powerful for beginners
Maybe you are right, but it works great for me. Done 50k km in 1.5 year with it, since I began riding. However 80% of time I use it to commute on motorway in a reasonable manner :) ...20% of the other time I watch your videos and get all the adrenaline I need :D
this is not about being wrong or right. I said IN MY OPINION... people should ride whatever they enjoy.
needs more likes
:D
what do you think about Sv650s ? throttle response, handling etc. ? that's what I ride
never properly rode one. But I heard they are good value for the (little) money they usually cost
the bike just has long gearing making its power up top since it as market as an entry level bike the gearing makes it more user friendly
AMAZING! how you can ride so safe and fast remains a mistery to me....moar Honda pleasee
make staying relaxed and calm your top priority. The rest will come automatically. I'm serious.
That Laugh at the end of the video LMAO.
finally someone who notices it :D
Do you have video with TDM 850 / 900 test ride? how many times you fall during ride? i mean - in lifetime?
no I haven't. Two times in 9 years.
btw the title says raw, but it is still edited with all the messages, I personally would prefer to have a real raw one or if the messages were CZcams annotation so it is possible to disable them
won't do that but still thanks for the feedback
super gefahren :)
danke ;)
Man did you steal it ? hahaha nice video!
;)
Awesome ride indeed ^^
thanks Keith!!
I think these bikes have a perfect place in the market. When I think of a great first sport bike for a beginner, this is the sort of bike I think of. Most people think it is a double R (or race bike if they don't know bikes), it's slower therefore safer for less experienced riders. Think of it as the Mustang of bikes. It's not gonna win races, but it'll put a huge smile on your face if you are in the early stages of riding. If I won the lottery, this is the bike I would buy my dad.
cool!
Sehr nice! 👍💪😎
Honda - immer gut! 😃 Greetings and moar Honda pls!! 💪👍😀
Danke!!
MOAR HONDA SCHAAAF MOAR HONDA DAMMIT
YES SIR :)
Geiles Video!
Kannst du mir mal sagen, wo man so tolle Strecken findet? o.O
danke!!
Im just watching this with the biggest smile on my face.
Schaaf you are amazing haha
I'm very glad to read that :) Thank you!
Wilslte mal mein Kackfass fahren? (ZZR 600 E mit relativ ausgelutschtem Federbein und Lucas Rasten).
Bin aktuell in München stationiert, man könnte sich also in den Alpen treffen.
Who are you kidding, withholding us more of this?
So, moar Honda please! ;)
I loved my ZX6R(636) just for having that bit more torque than a average 600cc and wished I still had her.
It's the torque that's really addictive though, I learned that from my ZRX and MT-09... ;)
Albeit the ZX6R cornered much better and at higher speed, all have their own charms and insufficiencies!
oh yes I would love to try a 636 once!! Thanks a lot, Kwakboy!!
I also don't like small 4 cylinders because you have to rev them too much to have fun. On a racetrack, that wouldn't be an issue, on a road it is. So I prefer big singles and twins :)
reasonable choice :)
Schaaf, can you tell me your render settings in Premiere Pro please ?
czcams.com/video/4FbTsk_3QD4/video.html
thanks ! :)
more Honda pls.
yes Sir!
Wow... ou are exiting corners so wide on this bike :o
why not? :)
They're interesting bikes. It looks very stable compared to your XSR700 video, but you can tell you don't get along with the engine characteristic quite so well.
The marketing people would tell you they're pitched at 40-somethings (i.e. me, haha) that like supersport styling but want more comfort.
I'm guessing you struggle to see the point because a 500 twin essentially covers the performance closely enough but does so with a driveable powerband and a light weight frame.
yes you definitely got my POV here :) Thanks
anda dmais em meu brother...show.
obrigado!!
3:45 Brain fart. PS nice save!!! Cool video with nice riding. As always Ride Safe.
thanks a lot Jeremy!
which one's muxh better Schaaf? Daytona 675 or CBR600F? 😆
Daytona all the way.
sauber :) sieht extrem nach spaß aus
in der Tat!
im with you, i dont like sporty looking bikes with upright position aka anny sportbike under 600(with exceptions) the only ones that gives you that feel is the hyosung gt250r, big bike, little 250 Vtwin, i do prefere naked bikes for that driving style/sitting position, but i love going with my arms low and a raceish position(been cycling fixed a lot with dropbars and i love it) i would chose the regular 600f hornet, or even the older models, before the full fairing version, and i love little inline4 :C one of my dream bikes is a CBR250rr(the old one) or a CB400 su-four
thanks for your opinion!! I agree I'd take a naked Hornet over this any day :)
i'd like to see this ride but with an msx 125 (aka grom) MOAR HONDA!
oh indeed I'd love to try one!
What's the difference between Honda cbr 600f and 600rr ?
600rr is a sports bike, the f is a sports tourer
+Schaaf, scraping stuff on the bike it's fun, but it unsettles the bike everytime you do it. You should lean off the bike a bit, in order to lean less into corners, it also gives you more room if you have to correct your line.
For the rest, nice video as always!
Scraping stuff on the bike is fun hence why I do it.
That's one of the two bikes I consider to start with, this or a Fazer 600 (both around 2003), so of course moar honda pls!
And I really like the disclaimer!
thanks a lot mate!! I can assure you that at least the Honda is very easy to ride!
Oh, a tiny request, if I may. It's rare to have someone like you, that really pushes the bikes and records a quality audio. Could it be possible to sometimes let us hear the idling sound when you borrow bikes with custom exhausts (of even stock)?
you may ask whatever you want but I'll leave this to the other guys here on YT :) I just enjoy making riding videos :)
I understand - and we probably like it better that way, anyway. :)
Great ride! Personally I prefer 4 cylinder bikes, nothing can compete with those Japanese 4 cylinder smoothness. About the looking, fairing can help you get a pillion and possibly get laid. that's the point of having sporty looking, I suppose :)
ah, you must be talking about those kind of women I always try to avoid ;) Thanks a lot for the comment and your opinion!!! :)
Like a scraping orchestra :P
:D
Need to keep the prompts up longer.
Shouldn't have to pause the video just to read them.
i've started to display them a lot longer 3 years ago lol
Moar Honda pls
Honda's are great bikes, for when you are new, or old
yup
is that pegs i hear scraping? or your knee sliders?
pegs
Schaaf bleddy hell. do these have bad ground clearance or are you right on the limit of the tyre?
You should really get an endorcement for Pegs to review them .. " yep that lastet 5 mins " .. " now let me try these longlife branded ones.. yep 6 mins" Thumbs up for those haha
Hehehehe
I always presumed the upper seating position is for the guys with wrist problems but who want a sporty look.
probably
Do you scrape your knees or the bike's footpegs?
on this bike I can choose whatever I feel like ;) But in this video you can hear the pegs and the exhaust cover scrape.
Why do you wanna scrape the pegs/framework all the way, and risk unsettling the bike?
because I enjoy it.
fair enough :D
Moar Honda pls!
gerne!
Wait ! did I missed something??? Have you changed bikes?? OMG
he said it was borrowed from a friend :)
his cb is currently broken
Moar Honda if you please, good sir.
YES OF COURSE :)
greetings from the newtroll:)
hello!
