Wah pedal first, or overdrive pedal first? Sweetwater's Don Carr shows you the pros and cons of both signal paths to help you get the best guitar sound.
#Sweetwater #Friedman The audio in this video was recorded using the Zoom F8n, purchase it here: www.sweetwater.com/store/deta... - Hudba
Thanks Don! Good demonstration and Tip! Peaked my interest in that Guitar! Thanks for sharing brother!
You should do this with other effects like delay, reverb, pitch effect, etc... Really enjoyed this!
IT’S MY FAVE DEMO GUY!
Helpful. There's no right or wrong, they are just different. Thanks!
Thanks for the video....i do hear the difference...
Still not sure where to put my 535Q into the Katana Artist that I just got from Sweetwater. I’ll try it in a couple of places and see what happens. Think I’ll try the FX jacks on the back first. I use a FV500VL into the amp and will try it into the Foot Control jack. This amp is SWEET!! So much potential. The picking response is out of this world. I haven’t tried it at 100 watts yet and it still thumps hard at 50 watts.
That guitar mixed with our plugins would = 🔥🔥🔥
I like em both for variety, way second gives a very synthy vibe
Fun fact. Avi Shabat (of Shabat Guitars) made the Friedman prototype guitars. There are a few out that he actually made.
i just brought a jimi hendrix wah wah pedal 50 yo and was thinking = so you did it yes sounds like hendrix the second choice !
Wah first always for me :)
Guess I need two wahs
I like to put wah before overdrive but also wah after fuzz
Trying to use a Soulpress 2 wah/volume pedal. Want just reduce sound output without losing gain so I guess I have only 1 choice, after gain pedals!
Wah first for me. But both ways have merits.
I've been running my wah before my overdrives/distortions, compressor but its just really noisy when engaged. You can't really hear it when picking but if I want to bring volume down and have some dynamic moods the hissing noise is horrible even with the guitar volume off. I just moved the wah behind the drives and the noise is gone. The wah does sound different, maybe a little more clarity or cleaner. The true test will be how it reacts and feels in live shows.
you could have an earth issue ? or sheilding
@@ronnieboucherthecrystalcraftsm Not sure what you mean by earth issue? I had tried 3 different Wahs, VOX, Cry Baby and the Area 51 which was the quietest of the 3. Still was noisy. When I put it at the end of the chain the noise goes away. While it is much better and much cleaner with less noise, I lose some gain and the wah is pretty loud but still better than dealing with swooshing noise when engaged at the front of the chain.
Chachi used to say wah wah wah
Big Friedman advocate
Who isn't? Lol
Wah First before distortion
Can you elaborate? I'm trying to figure which to use first.
@@armara70 well,i love the sound of wah first going to distortion,it doesnt choke out the notes
I’ve always been a “wah first” guy
Can you explain why? I'm working on my setup.
wah sounds better first ive been playing pro for 60 yrs
That's a matter of opinion. Stevie Ray Vaughan used the wah after overdrive and it was great.
@@rogerhalljr.4704 I've just reconfiged my board with wah behind the drive pedals instead of before the drives. There's no more obnoxious hissing noise now.

I'm glad it worked out for you. It's really a matter of taste and depends highly on the overall tone you play with. For some tones, the wah at the end of the chain sounds awful. Some tones, it sounds great. 🤷♂️
@@rogerhalljr.4704 Yeah I've had it wired in front of the drives for a few years and have been dealing with the hissing noise but now covering some songs that are little quieter. After rewiring it the hissing noise is gone but there is a difference in the tone. I can't say if it is good or bad at this point. I have some live shows coming up which will be the true test.
@@sonsrawk
Wah after overdrive can tend to sound "thin" or "nasally". Don't be afraid to play around with the overdrive settings to find a sweet spot. You may end up loving the results. Or you may hate it. Lol
I hope it works for you in the live shows.
🤘😎
With that hair and the Chucks I'd say.................
