  • Slave Zero X is one of the hardest games I've played in a long time, and now, it arrives on the Switch. The big question? Can the Switch handle it because this game lives or dies by it's frame rate!
    Hack and slash your way through a dystopian future to kill a man-made god.
    From the top of Megacity S1-9, the Sovereign Khan rules with fists of iron and flesh. Beneath the city’s rotting foundations, a vengeful warrior embarks on a journey to murder him. 5 years prior to the events of Slave Zero, Slave Zero X brings new life to a world where horrific, living machines known as Slaves are primed to become the latest tools of war in humanity’s long and bloody history. A secret band of warriors known as The Guardians hope to stop these biomecha from being unleashed upon the world, but one swordsman among their ranks has a different idea: use the enemy’s own weapon against them. By merging with a stolen Slave Unit Prototype, Shou will become a furious Devil in pursuit of killing a false God.
    • KILLER COMBOS: Use swift swordplay, explosive ordnance, and stylish combos against an army of meat and metal.
    • DEATH FROM ABOVE: Air juggling, dashes, and frequent target switching allow for you to take down foes of any size while wall-jumping and platforming can help you outmaneuver your enemies.
    • FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE: Conquer mini-bosses, set pieces, and climactic 1-on-1 encounters that offer intense challenges against unforgettable villains.
    • STRENGTH IS NOTHING WITHOUT CONTROL: Use the Training Room to hone precise and powerful moves to string together devastating attack sequences.
    • BATTLE TO THE BEAT: A 90s-inspired soundtrack features heavy Drum’n’Bass and funky industrial music that adds to the thrill of combat.
    • FEAST YOUR EYES: A unique visual aesthetic combines nostalgic 2D sprites with an advanced lighting system and stylized 3D environments.
    • THE END IS NEVER THE END: After completing the campaign, further challenges await in an expansive and frenetic ‘Crimson Citadel’ procedural challenge tower with an online high score leaderboard.

    It’s weird cause this game got delayed for the Switch so you would think the performance would’ve been top-notch. Hope there’s a patch down the line to make it more smoother.

      I think they may have done all they can at this point and it's variable like this, or locked 30

    • @KewieCRC420

      Not that weird. The switch can only do so much. Looks like it hit the limit like above said. Shame.

    • @SwitchCorner

      Roll on that next system. I just really hope we get that backward compatibility and I can go back and celebrate games like this one rocking a solid 60fps cause that would be a great series for the channel

      @@SwitchCorner that would be great if the switch 2 does that. I own Slave Zero on PS5 and glad I didn’t wait for the switch version like originally planned. Had a feeling it would turn out like this after those delays.

      @@KewieCRC420 thats weird cause Hyrule Warriors DE runs at 60 fps and Im sure it requires more ressources than this game...

    Funny how this style of game has issues, yet Red Dead Redemption on Switch runs great as well as all the other "miracle" ports.

      We gotta factor in team size, the hardware is old and I imagine this is a small team doing their best

    Starting to see why this was delayed so many times at the last minute, and the physical copy is still a month away too. It'd be nice to see some extra patches on the physical version, but I'm not holding my breath. I loved the original game on PC (which is absolutely the better version), it's odd that this game shares almost nothing in common with it. Also, part of the reason the original was so cool in the day was the sense of scale, the Slave you controlled was massive, and you could step on cars and people and it added to the whole 'you're piloting a giant fekin robot' feel. But this just seems like everything you fight is the same size as your character, which kind of kills it for me.

  • @Ser-Smiley
    @Ser-Smiley Před měsícem +3

    They should just lock the frame rate to 30 fps. I think it's better that way.

      This is the only other game, which is why it's baffling that they're making it now, 20 some odd years after the first game.

    Can`t wait for this game, I have the calamity edition pre ordered for switch. I just hope they fix the framerate issue! I actually still own slave zero on dreamcast and it is absolutely nothing like this game as far as the combat goes.

      @@KewieCRC420 I will, I usually buy on switch and on another platform. Just like having the switch copy for portable. This is the perfect game for that, it`s a shame it doesnt run smooth. Contra Galuga suffers from the same prob. It annoys me that games are released like this.

      @@KewieCRC420 me to, accept I like to play at work lol, i`ve got a lot of downtime. This is what I dont get though. You have games like Zelda botw, tears, Metroid Prime remastered, Mario Odyssey etc etc that run flawlessly and are heavy in the graphics dept. Meanwhile simple sidescrolling games like Contra Galuga, this and many others struggle to run on switch. Everybody blames switch for being outdated but i`m thinking its the development teams fault. Because how does Nintendo do it?

    • @KewieCRC420
      @KewieCRC420 Před měsícem +1

      @@bbgothviolator8953 lol, it’s a little of both. You can’t deny extra power will solve most framerate issues but at the same time you have to give credit where it’s due to developers that know how to push a stock switch to the limit. Programming isn’t easy. Haha. Take it easy.

    As a fighting game player perspective its really interesting game. The training mode is Lite but pretty neat cause it has A hitbox and hurtbox option which is pretty cool and dummy options
    The combo system is kinda sluggish when you first get into it but once you learn a few strings/routes its cool as hell! Now Heres my gripe on this.
    The developer really gotta fix the framerate issues and most importantly the input delay. Like there are combo routes that are possible to pull off but the input delay gets in the way like some combos drop due to the input delay and some frame drops... idk if its the devs fault or nintendo's cause of the switch being such low powered hardware but if its on the devs side they really gotta address this issue. Outside of that its really fun once you keep in mind that this game has frame rate and input delay issues

    This game could run and perform on the Switch any day. I would attribute it to the developers' lack of understanding of the Switch's architecture and features. I'm pretty sure it is not utilizing the DSP in the Switch, which results in wasted CPU cycles.
    Unfortunately, it seems like the developers have done a cash grab on the Switch, and they should not be rewarded for it.

    • @yellowblanka6058
      @yellowblanka6058 Před 17 dny

      The "DSP"...and what, pray-tell would be this magical DSP that would allow them to bypass the weak tri-core 1 Ghz CPU? You don't really understand the Switch hardware, do you? I see this all the time on videos/articles of poor ports to Switch "lazy devs" left and right, but if all these teams of devs with decades of experience are having performance difficulties on Switch, I'm going to venture that MAYBE it's not the devs, perhaps it's the old, rather anemic mobile hardware. I would absolutely not buy this port on the Switch, but I also don't place all the blame on the devs, it can't be easy getting an engine/game working at parity on the much weaker hardware in Switch.

    Oh, you’re relocating to the UK?
    Didn’t even know that you were situated in the US.
    I personally wouldn’t want to live in the US ever for several reasons, so I for one think it’s a good choice on your part.
    Wish you all the best for getting (re)acquainted with the UK. :)
    As for the game, I’m gonna play this on the Steam Deck Oled. Glad to finally have the choice. Love both systems and funnily enough, the Switch is so much easier lying in my hands and a lightweight.
    The Steam Deck oled my hands cramp up from the form factor how your hands clamp in on the sides when holding and playing it.
    Either way, love both systems, love this game, love your channel(s). :)
