Should I buy it? $59.99 is A LOT.

@@chabbab6698 $5? Get real! The game hasn't been out long to be that cheap. If you're lucky enough to find a physical copy at a game store, not recommending gamestop, then you're lucky as hell! Sadly, I couldn't find the physical copy. And I was lucky enough to find the digital copy that has a 33% discount on the Xbox store for $40. Wish it was $30 instead $40, but other then that, is it worth it? Definitely! Still playing the game retardedly! And the dude is right. It might turn into a cult classic.

I love how you touched on multiple aspects of the game instead of just trashing on it for 20 minutes like other reviewers.
I mean... If the game gets trashed for 20 minutes, even if that is all it's being, shouldn't that still hold some weight?
If you are having fun with it all power to ya but there are some players who wants more out of a game than just a unique concept and adicting repetetive gameplay.

You could probably get away with calling this a AAA game maybe during the early PS3/360 era but definitely not now this game feels ancient it's like I'm playing a PS3 game only at a higher resolution and framerate.

Instead of taking points away from other stats to boost others I found a little sweet spot on the wheel that gives you a few extra points in any two stats without taking any from any of the others. You can skip through the gibberish parts if you're careful to move the conversation along faster. I'm really enjoying the game. Once they fix a few things and enhance a few things I think this game will be that much better. I really hope they get to make a sequel because I can only imagine what more they could do with a bigger budget and more devs. I mean this game is amazing especially considering how many people worked on it. It has a few problems, true, but for me it hasn't been a lot. They could and hopefully will add a few more combos in to give it a little more depth.
You finished the game in 30 hours? Man my side quest list is still huge, only beat one world eater so far and already played 50 hours:) i think 60 bucks is completely fine as you can play this forever or rush through the main story. I really love the game and cant stop playing. So many great ideas, so much loot, crafting and so much Stuff to explore. Plus the mounts are awesome. Animals, a mech robot, a boat and a flying thing.. many cool skills, magic etc. One of the best games i played in the last couple of years. Just to show what i mean: i played uncharted 4, the last of us remastered, days gone and now biomutant and i have just as much fun if not more with it:)
P.s yes tutorial was too long but some games need a little longer to get great. Elex was one of these as well:)
Just finished watching the review. I have to say, this is my first video of your that I'm watching and I appreciate not only that you 100%d the game, but also have this laid back approach. Thanks for not copying and pasting the other review formats too, I don't really care about "sound" and the soundtrack all that much, they do what they're supposed to do.
Anyway, the review pretty much sums up my thoughts about the game. I sunk 20 hours in and personally, I don't think I'm willing to complete it and enter NG+. Shops are heavily underutilized, currency is meaningless from the mid-point towards the end, and as I continue on, it's the same game experience, whether fighting or looting.

The game is budget priced here in Canada (costs $44 USD here when you do the exchange). So I was pleased with it based on the budget price and the amazing zen gameplay.
Super underrated channel, hope you blow up soon. I just found you and have only watched a few videos but I’ve loved what I’ve seen so far. Very good explanations and good organization. I also love the 100% idea (though I feel like that may be too high of a bar tbh, I don’t want that to be something that slows you from making me more videos 🤷♂️)

I've played for 85 hours so far and haven't finished 100 percent yet, killed only two world eaters, finished tribal war and done a ton of side quest, this game is as short as you want it to be.
Agreed - completed my first playthrough yesterday @ 55hrs total. Wandered off to complete every side mission first & discover the world, then Tribe Wars & only started World Eaters @ 50hrs & the run to the end. Already into my 2nd playthrough & power leveling still away from the main story - it’s what you make it. 👌🏼🇦🇺😎
@@dohvahkiin1177 finally finished the game at 100 hours, loved every second of it. Waiting for the new patch to hit consoles to start new game plus and get some sweet ass loot.
@@iamgamer5879 ditto re NG+. First playthrough (Commando) is set for NG+ once the update drops. Running my 2nd character (Dead Eye) through to completion intent on doing the same. 👍🏼
@@dohvahkiin1177 I was going to run another class too, did saboteur, but since the new update is gona open all class skills I'm going to stick with the saboteur for now. Hopefully we get some dlc or level cap increase.
Yeah was surprised by his 30h 100% time. I'm just over 30h in and only done half the war and 3 world eaters, still have about half a map of side quests to wrap up.

This game is really fun just for the sake of being fun to play. The story is barebones but the environment is so fun traversing and the freedom of movement and the solid combat mechanics make this so much fun to play. The crafting system is alot of fun to tool around with and I found myself trying tons of different builds. Admittedly some of the mechanics are a bit shallow but not unwelcome. I'm hoping there is a sequel, there is too much done right to ignore.
Great review. I saw a channel i follow play through this game briefly and i LOVE open world games so I bought it, as it was on sale. I would mention on other thing though: The one issue for me is the randomness of some of the objectives. I have never played a game that required more googling before. Most games i've played i've had to google "how do you solve this puzzle" at least once or twice, some games more than that (early AC games with their physics and acrobat puzzles were especially bad) but this one takes the cake. There's the puzzles, most of which aren't too bad, then there's the "point and click adventure" type stuff which is common enough in these games but this one is especially bad in terms of how unrelated stuff is. It really does take me back to those old games - you'd have a locked door, which needs a key, but they key to find it would actually be a quest halfway across the map. Lastly, there's the "area objectives", sure i don't HAVE to do them all but there's NO help whatsoever, this is the worst one for me. Every single area i've gone to i've missed at least 25% of the objectives because it's in a random spot somewhere, or i missed that one small spot i could use to climb up somewhere etc.

I kept losing a lot till I started playing serious. Most of the time i was laughing out loud, this game is hillarious! Like when you cast Ice magic on the floor, they looked so funny sliding all over the place. Or when you cast your mushrooms they bounce all over the place. I played lots of RPGs in my time,none made me laugh like this one. I love it :)
This game, more than anything, has prime potential to have an excellent sequel. Instead of having the narrator, they could add an item or automaton upgrade that translates the NPC’s in their own voice. Also they need a ledge grab mechanic, it’s not super necessary, but it would help a lot. Those were really my main two complaints about the game.
I think having multiple narrators you can switch between would be cool.
@@squelchotron8259 they already have the female light side voice even just alternating between the two. Talking to a male NPC the dude talks and talking to a female and the female voice plays. I know that doesn’t fit current gender roles, but it will help make the point. Plus these are animals in the end of the world, they probably only care about multiplying and surviving so I doubt they have stuff like that! That’s just me trying to rationalize my point in a pretty shitty way. Lmao
I just like staying neutral. Light and Dark convos are hilarious. Im dark red....but im not into darkness. Hearing them bicker is kinda why i kept playing lol
Ha yeah, we need more characters who have quirky personifications of "light" and "dark".

Good review. I’m superseded you beat it in 30hours I have 30+ hours and only beat one world eater lol. I think what the game pulls off is being fun which open worlds have been lacking lately. I think you right this is a cult classic in a making

Yeah, without rushing or prioritizing quests the game is worth we’ll over 100 hours. I only have ~40 hours in and have not done even 1 world eater. But I have taken like 500+ photos/ screenshots with the photo mode
Me, I have yet to beat the game, and I've been exploring and doing most of the side quests. So far I'm still impressed by the game, it's just that the combat's kind of iffy. Hope the upcoming patch fixes the problems that are playing the game.
Same. I’m at 43 hours and defeated 1 world eater. It’s a great game and it reminds me of Zelda open world/rpg stuff, devil may cry combat mechanics, mixed in Spyro loot collecting/mission repetitiveness.

Over 72 hours and loved it. Some minor gripes but nothing that can't be patched easily. Everything everyone's complaining about can easily be fixed and actually improved. The game itself is wonderful, and they have a lot to build off of to make something incredibly memorable.
Couldn’t agree more, this game feels so unique, it’s rough around the edges but can definitely be polished up over time. And I do think it does some things better than any other game I’ve ever played, like the sheer amount of visual variety and satisfaction in the crafting system. I really enjoyed the narrator too, particularly the little quips he has during exploration, it makes the game feel so unique
Game just feels slow for me. Animations looks terrible, combat has no impact, and I’m only 10 hours in. Getting loot is slow and overall I just don’t find it very fun. Feels like I have to play it because I spent 60 bucks on it. But I never really want to

@@thomashewitt8104 glad you enjoyed the game man, It seems like reviews have definitely improved over the course of the patch releases. Not that it was ever a bad game to begin with but im glad the real reviews are starting to gain traction.
The main story doesn't take to long to complete but the replay value I haven't checked out just yet. Interested to check out for different endings.
Apparently there's 2 endings and in my opinion that isn't really replay value. Going through basically exactly the same experience again just to see a different ending isn't for me a reason to replay. The game has to give me reasons to want to continue playing. Because there's still a lot of the game I didn't experience, there's other ways to play I haven't tried yet, There's a LOT of outcomes I haven't seen (not just 1 ending) because the game's open enough for me to roleplay different characters or because it's just that fun.
Combat and crafting is cool. Alot of the dialog is copy and paste between characters you first meet and it takes a long time to have listen to the same thing you heard before.
The art direction is fantastic. There were more than a couple moments while playing this that made me think "is this the best looking game I have ever seen?". Obviously the answer is no but there are moments that will straight up drop your jaw.

I pretty much agree on everything you said, especially about the price point. The game is gorgeous and I love the enemy design, especially the Worldeaters. There are even huge lizards who wear pajamas for some reason. The lack of voice acting is really bad, though. It made me not care about the dialog at all and I skipped 90% of it. The side characters seem nicely designed but they have no personality because they aren't animated or voiced. This game kinda reminds me of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla to be honest. It's a pretty big open world to run around in, and there aren't much to do apart from certain side quests which are fun. The combat gets tiring after a while and the taking of outposts felt like doing raids in AC, where it was the same thing for each one. The crazy thing is that AC: Valhalla is also a $60 dollar game and it has fully voiced characters, animated cutscenes and so much more. Overall I think Biomutant is more fun, but for $60 it's hard to justify that.

Great review, I am only 6 hours in and I am liking it and the world looks amazing but I agree the tutorial drags on to long and it's a shame they every character can't have there own voice actor but I know that would really drive up the budget of the game!

You can tell some of the reviewers didn’t even play past the prologue. One guy was talking about how the game isn’t vertical, but I have been “skyriming” up rocks and hills like it’s nothing. In the start of the game it was linear and it lead you in a specific direction, but after that you could go anywhere. I have basically unlocked the whole map and I haven’t even beat the first world eater. I didn’t even get the engine upgrade till I was level 16. I found the level 3 before I found the level 2.
This is cool. I was really interested in this when it was announced and released. I didn’t pick it up until a few months ago. Put it down after an hour as it didn’t feel very satisfying to control. Even now I think about going back to it as it still sounds super fun
About Mutation pools, be sure to think carefully when you use one to change your character because when I did so it reset all of my resistances and I immediately began to take bio damage. This might be a bug that needs to be fixed or it could be an actual setting the developers meant to have in the game. Any thoughts on if it's a bug or not?

Yeah, first thing I said after seeing the actual game. Not worth the price, but a decent game. Will wait for a sale during christmas or something.
July will have a sale since youtubers say it’s a failed game the devs will drop the price in july
just came back to play the game on extreme and get the last few achievements.
Though it has it many flaws, I still enjoyed it. The IP is here, I hope they take a second crack at it. Cause it is a very cool world.
Add things like:
- fleshed out towns/cities
- More unique characters
- Survival elements like food and drinks
- Allow us to buy or make a home (can collect things and be little goblin raccoons)
- Less Ubisoft openworld filler and more fleshed out quest etc
I feel like there's enough in the game for a solid foundation. Hope the IP isn't shelved
@ Mortismal Hi long time subscriber here, just want to say you do stand out among CZcamsrs and I for one always enjoy your view on games. It was Pathfinder that brought me to this channel, it’s nice to see you branching out. I was wondering if you ever thought of trying Outward. It’s a bit hard to get into but I’d say it has become my second favourite RPG after Morrowind. It’s a indie game but seems to have a dedicated albeit niche fan base.

I barely added anything into vitality, but I upgrade my gear to have high armor and I barely take damage even against monsters that are higher level than me.

Your review sums up alot of points(i know im late). i am playing it now and i will say i enjoy alot of things. what you didnt enjoy i dont enjoy either. I do have to say, the currency means nothing, the only thing i bought was some medicine even tho i have tons. I am playing with like 180 luck and 70% loot chance but still i havent used it in my other playthrough either and i think that should be changed

I hope there will be a patch/update where you can completely goes neutral, that you don't have to side with ANY of the tribes and you can be ultimate evil by killing/destroying ALL the tribes. It will be awesome!

Picked it up today its a game thats been on my radar I thought it looked interesting. Got biomutant, lost judgment, kena bridge of spirits, kingdom hearts all in one and last avengers. Most were much cheaper for black friday sales except kena. Wish I would’ve waited to get deathloop, guardians of the galaxy they were pretty cheap today. I know avengers is not the best game but had fun playing single player on game pass and it was like $8 and almost forgot i picked up outer worlds on the xbox even though i have it for pc.
I enjoyed this game way more then Fenyx Rising. Creating weapons was awesome
I haven't watched the review yet but all I gotta say is I think this game is gonna fall under the category of cult classics, I personally love this game! I'd give it an 8 but the critic in me wants to give it a 7.5
Knowing the small Dev team behind this and taking that into consideration. This game is absolutely incredible. It is packed full of content and funny moments around every corner. Is it perfect absolutely not. Is it worth full price hell yes. It's packed full of so much content I think it's worth more then the standard 60 bucks. I'm having so much fun with this game it completely blew away my expectations.

I've been playing this game for a week. It literally has that Jak and Daxter and FarCry 3 type vibe to it. But it's wacky at the same time. And totally agree on the price. $60 isn't worth it cause it doesn't have online multi-player option. But I was lucky enough to snag it on the Xbox store for $40 cause it had a 33% discount on it for a week. Totally worth the steal! The map look small at first, but damn! It's fucking huge! Which that's great cause I can explore the world more. And the achievements, or trophies for PSPlayers, is a little more challenging to get and do, which that's not bad. I like challenges for the achievements, little slow progress, but totally worth the award. Other then that, so ready to beat this game fully 100%! Hopefully this game would be my third one to complete with all achievements.

Of all the things that have been talked about in this game, the fact that you can skip half of the clan wars is just...idk unacceptable. It's a blatant admission that the gameplay loop is subpar. I understand it's a small team and this isn't a AAA game. However, the fact remains that if you are giving your players an option to not play your game then something needed to be changed.
Honestly I think skipping the clan wars is acceptable for new game plus.... for the first time around absolutely not. Plus it doesn't warn people very well that you lock out clan weapons if you do it. Also I am more upset that the clan swapping mechanic isn't fleshed out well so, switching is a chore.
A lot of games have skipping...maybe we should ban fast travel* in video games

@@AcornSmokes420 apples and oranges. The point of fast traveling is to reduce the time player spends backtracking through already completed content. This game gives you the option to skip content you have not yet completed. Imagine in breath of the wild that you completed two of the divine beasts and the game came with a pop up saying "ohh you released two of the divine beasts, would like to just skip the other two and go straight to Ganon?"
If you personally would like shorter games, then by all means its your decision. But from a game designer perspective it is counter-intuative to have a mechanic in place to skip over uncompleted content. It screams "this is boring and we know our players won't want to play it." Which then begs the question, why even put it in the game in the first place? Why not just have two 4 clans controlling the map instead of 8? Why not make the map smaller to only contain those first 4?

Solid review. Got this through PS plus, and gave it a shot. Only gripe i have is not being able to put down map markers for exploration. You see something on the world map that looks like buildings, and you have to still kinda figure out where it is once you start moving. Also, yeah combat gets really repetitive, and boring. Overall, not a bad game, but not AAA. Also finished 100% in 30 hours!? WTF?!?!

You can still get tribe weapons if you skip the wars you just gotta Go to each outpost and grab it from the throne room
I'm surprised you didn't go into the combat balance, it seems like they put a lot into the melee systems but everyone is saying "just go guns". I haven't heard a peep about the spells, you also barely mentioned them. Did you have any more thoughts on this?
I liked them, you can only use up to 4 of any combination of any of the powers though, so again it's really easy to find something you like and stick too it, but there's a good mix there. I was playing a psi freak and used the psi powers a lot actually. Melee is good for damage but you get knocked down etc a lot, ranged does okay damage but it's usually more because you don't wind up getting knocked down as much

I find it worthwhile to do a bit of both for versatility and to execute combos to trigger super wung-fu. Melee should be able to outclass ranged for pure damage because it scales with strength but I didn't find it underpowered with fairly average stats.

I really enjoyed the music in this gane, i wonder why no one talks about it. Its real orchestral music to its best! The only downside is that i think there are not enough songs.

The narrator reminds me of the moogle minigame at golden saucer in final fantasy 7.
But what does "100% completed" a game mean? Does that also include the Trophies/Achievements and DLC or just the in-game collectibles and such?
usually means all achievements for games which have good achievements, if not then it means all quests all achievements and all main things completed(all endings) and such. no in game collectbles tho because that isnt really something u 100%, maybe the Ultimates but not every single thing as there are so many, usually it means more major things
I wish that they added combos for the special powers and super wung Fu as well and added dual wield crush weapons
Small dev team and relatively small budget kinda meant they were limited.
I don't expect to see any DLC, or any future Biomutant game as I don't believe this sold very well (hope I'm wrong).
I think they should have sold the game at a lower RRP to entice people in, plus it really is a lower budget game...

One of my only real issues are the fact that you cant summon vehicles or mounts anywhere it makes sense for them to be usable.. they need to fix this.. if i get new vehicles or mounts, i wanna use them how i want and when i want to. Especially in new game plus.

I beat it also in around 30 hours and went with two handed, auto rifle so kinda easy. But I won't play new game+ because I already maxed out those class trees. In NG+ is kinda ass, gota get all your stuff for the googlide and mekoton or whatever.. loose all the fast travel and have to un-fog the the map and redo every mission . And biggest thing that pisses me off is NO WEAPON for defeating the world eaters no special suit or anything! Same for NG+ . BUT if I was going too restart I'd go psi freek, evil, dual wielding. Because reminds me of a sith or something.
