Thank you for your clear and honest review!
It looks like a fun game, and based on your experience I'll probably try it one day when it's on sale :)
I enjoyed this game. A fun, straight forward and violent action game with zero micro transactions or "live" elements. It breaks zero new ground and that was fine with me. I had a good time the whole way through.
How long is it
@@captainsonypony2709 expect 9-12 hours
There is skin dlc lol
The Best PC gaming content (reviews, hands on ,thoughts on gaming ) on CZcams , I am 44 years old and love PC gaming specially RPGs and this channel talks directly to my brain , I hope you get 1 million subscriber!!
I really love this game! Combat is fantastic, with such impact and violence, combined with so many ways to kill your enemies. I will replay this game lots of times and tinker with the different styles of combat. I wish they would get loads of many and make this a even bigger and more deep adventure, cause the setting is great and has so much potential.
death ray and lightening storm tornado were the most fun weapon upgrades to use
i really appreciate your reviews. i've added your videos to every game i am interested in and found them really helpful and infomrative.
Just found your channel and the fact you do 100% playthrough before reviewing is definitely a way to set yourself apart from other reviewers. Subbed. To the heart of my post: I'm a sucker for wild west retellings and fiction and love bloody shoot 'em outs in games.
This game looks like a dumb fun shot 'em out with an emphasis on goring vampires to your heart's content. The story is certainly lacking (kinda hurts on the storyteller in me), but I'd like to see what this could do if it got more story to it in maybe free DLC or perhaps even a future game. Honestly when I can afford it, I'd buy it on a $10-$20 sale (down from $60 to $50 or $40) and likely just play with my friend who likes this setting and style of gameplay too.
Congratulations for 100k! And awesome Review! Good for your Mortym!
A big congrats is in order for your mega-milestone my friend!
I have been awaiting this awesome review from you on this unique old school style game & can't wait for my physical console copy to arrive soon!
They should have added a survival mode or something. Game looks great and I'll pick it up eventually.. but definitely needs more than a 10 hour campaign for the price
Agreed. There's so much you can do to increase the lifespan of the game, without extending the story, making more maps, enemies etc
NG+ is awesome as you won't find everything your first playthrough. It's also nice being able to increase the difficulty with your upgrades because Evil in the later sections is no joke. I also like that NG+ increases the difficulty so it doesn't get easy. My first playthrough took me about 15 hours also.
good heavens! Mortismal your pumping out content at a crazy rate. Good on ya. Great work as usual.
A year later and despite warning us that he would: he hasn't slowed down...
At this point, I'm slightly beginning to worry: been there, done that: you just can't give the best of yourself to your job (even if you love it and is more than just a job) for years on end.
At one point....well, let's just say no one's enery is endless, and even the soul can feel exhausted...
very good straight forward review, great work as always
I love your reviews, they are so perfect that after watching them I know if I'm going to buy a game or just wait for a reduced price. Thanks
love the overview, pretty much sums up what the game is on about.
100.000 Congratulations!
a very fun old school doom like shooter game tons of fun. I do wish more open world exploration was possible. Hopefully a DLC is created and sequel. Would like to see more RPG features but overall quite action packed fun!
Hi Mortym! I was waiting for you thoughts on this one. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for this review and the details!
Gratz on 100k.
Love your reviews. They're always very informational and on point.
Mortismal, I recommend you add a game called "Nobody: The turnaround" to your to do list of reviews. Its a new Urban survival game.
You can do mission select, but you do it through the Lore menu. I found it by accident. Left-most tab in Lore.
Yes you can
Its a well made game. All games does not need to an open wotld. Simple concept like this was what I needed. Awesome job!!
no problem with that. make it 30 bucks and let's go
Yeah just not at full price.
Would be a great buy at maybe 30 or 40$ depending on your location (its 90$ for me in canada).
@@coreymckee4844 😩
it's priced appropriately in different regions and on different platforms, on PC it's $50 American and on console $60 American, a percentage of that still has to go to the storefront hosting the game and the team has to make their money back and as well as a profit.
Full priced games these days are $70 American, so it won't be unusual to see AA games to sell games for $40-$60.
between $5-$30 is what i'll expect from an Indie game.
but if you don't want full price, there's always sales happening.
@@coreymckee4844 That is way to high..
This game is the type of game i've been looking for, i miss old school hack n slash games and this game bring all that fun back, but in a modern way.
I'm not really bothered with the price, because i don't expect this to be priced the same as many indie games, because it isn't one, full AAA price these days is $70.
but i'm having fun with this, if they make a sequel, and the go with a bigger world rpg route, i hope do it more like the Witcher 3 and less like any Ubisoft game.
I definitely agree on them going the RPG route with more skill tree and perks! I feel like this is a proof of concept on how the combat will work with player, now that they had lay down great groundwork, making this into an rpg is definitely the nexy step!
How the effing EFF do you finish so many games, so quickly, 100%? Mega skills, bro. Love the channel!
Its kinda sus...
Planning, discipline, willpower. Fortunately there are games like this one that you can 100% relatively quick, it's 2-3 days of work editing included, that way he can release videos consistently between longer games.
No work or kids aha
@@lankylemon8555 lmao true
@@lankylemon8555 this is probably work so even with kids if you treat this as your work day 6-10 hours then it's as normal as aby other job with kids, lol. I do it but not playing games
Totally agree about the evolution of the combat rooms and how they really fell off towards the end. At first it was really fun fighting off hordes of grunt enemies with some mid-level brutes sprinkled in the mix along with a main mini-boss. However at the end it was just 3-4 mini bosses in a cramped arena which became very stressful on higher difficulties because lots of your abilities don’t work on them. Not to mention the giant Hive Crone was annoying as hell to fight and was way overused.
oh yeah the Hive Crone was tough. Felicity was difficult boss too!
Thank you for doing this
Didnt even realize he even played Evil West! This man is seriously a Gamer God.
Great review I totally agree. The game was fun, and good at what it set out to do. The only thing holding the game back is the full AAA title price tag. If it released at around $30-$40 I'd say it's worth a grab but at the current asking price I would recommend waiting for a sale.
I am in that boat. $50 is a tough sell. Even $40 would seem more appropriate
I'm confused, though. 50$ is not a full AAA price tag. 60$ was the standard for a long time, but with the new generation it seems that $70 is the full AAA price.
@@KBWrecker I don't get why you think that 50$ is full-priced. It's not. 70$ is.
Congratulations on the 100k subscribers mark!!! Really happy for you. Well deserved!🥳
Keep wander in wisdom.
I just picked up this game and plan to play it tomorrow and I'd like to know can you replay levels/scenarios to grind for money/items etc. or is it a "one and done" situation? If theres a way I can do some grinding to get beefier earlier in the game I'd like to do that but if not its not a deal breaker.
Appreciate all your honesty. I have yet to buy this one because of that price point for a AA game. I will get it once I see it on sale however. Keep up the great work bro 👊
Congrats on the 100k well deserved 👍👏
I'm loving this game. Fun gameplay loop will keep me playing after I beat it.
Congrats on 100k Mortismal! Nice way to round up 2022
This is one of those games I see myself buying 3 years from now on sale when I finish off a big rpg and need something to kill time on a weekend.
Yup in couple months when it’s 20$
Great on point review. Got it for Christmas as a gift, but was going to get it eventually. Having a lot of fun with it. Story, pretty cool, good. But the meat n the cheese for me is the combat and gameplay. Upgrades and new techniques keep it fun and fresh. This one IDC too much to 100%, but I will be playing New game+ to upgrade everything. Very very fun. The kills are pretty satisfying lol.
This and Weird West makes me realize I want something complex like Pillars of Eternity style cRPG in a setting like this.
PoE is my favorite setting because it gives as guns that coexist with magic.
PoE is my fav setting aswell. I like when games mix magic/fantasy with early modern guns and gear. Arcanum, Outward and PoE are good games in that regard.
@@Johannicus I am interested in Outward but I heard it can be stupidly unfun
@@motivateddad Depends on what you expect from it. It is a exploration and survival game at its core. You need to explore to find weapons and gear. Prepere before battles, its not a action brawler. Learn enemies movements. It supports all this by haveing a fail scenario instead of death with reload. The game requires patients and a intrest in exploring the world without fear of failing. There is a great wiki that also can help in understanding the game with risk of spoilers.
Arcanum (steampunk) and Shadowrun (cyberpunk) are top-notch settings that tackle technology/magic coexistence.
@@voiceofreason1098 Shadowrun is also one of my favorite games/setting solely for that. The game itself is just a tech demo(at least the first one is).
Maybe you should include the word steamdeck in the description and hastags of these reviews where you talk about steamdeck compatibility. Might net you some additional views.
I really like your recommendation part at the end of the video. To know it is fun, but it feels bad paying that amount of money for it is quite a valuable information. At least for my.
Thanks Mort!
Its insane how many games you're able to finish in a short amount of time. How do you find the time?
Dude must be insanely good at games too. He often beats them on the hardest difficulty
He's doing it full time.
It's easier to find that time when it's part of your job I guess
Congratulations on your 100K subscribers count! I’m looking forward to seeing your review after I get off of work.
Best reviews. Strong work.
100k--Ding! All glory to the algorithm.
Good review. I use a rental service so I don't need to worry about paying full price. I'll give this a try. Thx
I've been interested in this. I'll probably pick it up for my steamdeck on a sale.
Do you love Steve?
Great review
I now come check you out before buying games. Thank you for balanced reviews.
The gameplay on your back ground reminds me of remnant, is the gameplay similar through out?
Honest question, what are examples that are comparable to this at $20-30?
Reminds me of Gears of War in so many ways. At the end of my playthrough, I have to admit that I really, really enjoyed this game.
I'll definetely play this when it's cheaper. Thanks for the quality review.
Congrats on 100k. And sorry that you had to finish this game to 100%. Sounds like a chore.
yeah sounds like one of these games that are good for short gaming session... and not for every day enjoyment.
It's not, it's a good game just a bit overpriced
Hehe Good show sir! 🥳
Great video
Please keep an eye on Remnant II
I’ll grab it on boxing week sale hopefully
Congratulations on 100k!
Evil West looks like something worth getting on a really big discount.
amazing game !! i'm loving every single shit in this game , i dunno about other ppl this is my best game 2022 so far ... starting NG+ hard mode super dupe . get it
Been looking forward to this one for a while and so glad that the reviews are positive!
Thank you for getting my stuff. :3
Also rendom comments boost the algorythm. :P
I'm curious what your casually professional analisys will be, as I hope something like BLOOD was, an interesting old-timer of vampire-shooter.
Yes! it is!
The story is a real good supernatural action movie with the cliches and grandeur, which in this case I've found enjoyable watching a cutscene movie.
Luckily you will touch that topic soon in the video: happines of mechanics.
Hm, perhaps 2 guaranteed free dlc-s contining another 12 hours of experience?
Maybe game plus mode would be in the same world, but all monsters would be harder and different (no simple reskins) because this time the Little Girl has chosen other ancient bloods to mix in?
Thank you, and yes, in that B-movie way, like Duke Nukem 1. :)
I always feel like its publishers who push to over prices smaller titles like this. The teams probably know its a solid AA but the studious publish it with expected returns of a AAA budget title. Your biggest gripe seems to be price and content, which Im happy about cause that means itll be worth it when I eventually get it on sale.
I am really enjoying this game!
I loved the story and the lore, read every damn thing!! And Felicity was an awesome villain, besides a few cringeworthy moments but 9/10
The enemy designs are pretty rad
Is that a screenshot from an actual game in your intro or just some artwork?
Hello everybody! Can someone tell me please if there is a new game ++? Because I want to upgrade anything before playing on evil difficulty.
now that you mention GOW, i do now get around in-between GOW and Remnant from the Ashes when it comes to gameplay.
Looks neat.
Somewhat festive timing for this game, as Rentier, the last name of the main character, is the german word for reindeer. :D
Flying Wild Hog are on a roll to become the coolest shooter dev post 2020.
I really enjoyed this game old school type focused on combat. Most of the games nowadays feel like movies with lots of cutscenes.... the graphics is not great but obviously you cannot expect too much
Mine was 43 English pounds iam happy with that price liked the game spot on review
100k very nice 👍
Thanks, you have made my mind up, will wait until the game comes down price, looks very repetitive, but will give it a go at £20
Somehow i got mission select in ng+ , i had to start the main game as ng+ from the first mission but after that when i went to the lore tab mission select was there..... idk if it's a console only feature but i doubt it
Also i got it Day 1 for 45 euros. I heard a lot of people say it's full price but for some reason i got it on 45
Man 100% every game? Ur a legend. I play a lotta games for a married man and still only got one platinum on Elden ring . Can’t imagine how long u spend on a video.
I just noticed (yes, I'm a bit slow;)) you've hit a 100k! Congrats! One of the few channels that deserves all good that comes to them!
Thanks for all the videos and for focusing on smaller and/or older RPGs.
It gets Cheesy B movie you say? Consider me sold
Just be glad it’s not as short as control. I finished that game in 5-6 hours and spent 60 dollars the week it released. 10-12 focused hours sounds reasonable to me. Although it’s gonna be on ps plus so I guess this is a moot point
Hord mode or arena would be amazing gameplay is crazy fun
Love this game
Thanks I will wait for a sale on this one. I almost pulled the trigger but I was waiting for your review it has saved me a few bucks thank you.
100k!
Is the combat a bit smoother than GoW 2018? Looking for a fun action game but the combat in GoW 2018 never felt good to me personally.
On steam deck it was pretty smooth, but as I mentioned the PC controls wouldnt work sometimes which kind of prevents it from being smooth
I think these days that 'bang per hour' is much more important than 'time per buck'. Especially with sub services like Gamepass on the rise and free time on the decline.
I've never played a 100+ hour Ubi game longer than 5 hours.
@GooseMania You seem to have got what I said backwards. Re-read.
I miss games like this
Love this game 10 out of 10 for me
Awesome game loved it
We got Weird West. Now we got Evil West.
I love this game! I think the sequel should be co op and actually have Edgar as your partner and make it open world! Also make the execution on bosses and semi bosses with button prompts (God of War) raise the gore and actually have a real good story. I think this franchise (if carried out) will be amazing!
I am once again asking you to review Geneforge
This is a monthly game on ps plus right now. Enjoying it so far. Price is around 50€ in Finland while AAA games are 90-120€ so not really even close to that AAA pricing. Prices are getting extremely high.
I like the B movie stuff. It's goofy fun
Congrats again! I picked up Weird West this holidays. This one is too expensive... are you reviewing the new 2 DLC of King Arthurs anytime soon?
Probably not, just looks like extra challenge missions
i believe the game has mission select feature
Game could use some sorta endless horde mode or something like RE4-6's mercenaries game mode.
great video, if you put some low music your next videos will be even better.. just a suggestion
Cheesy B-movies are great! Which I think this game delivered well. It doesnt take itself too serious while delivering smooth and fun gameplay.
my lord i regret buying the preorder deluxe edition evil west, did not even try it after seeing the first reviews :(
I've heard various reviews saying the game is kinda lackluster. It looks exactly like I expected it to play when I first saw the teaser trailer, and I'm perfectly fine with that. I'll probably wait and snag it on sale tho. I'm a big fan of Westerns with fantasy elements.
100% on 100k
I always feel like its publishers who push to over prices smaller titles like this. The teams probably know its a solid AA but the studious publish it with expected returns of a AAA budget title.
