I waited until this game was on sale to buy it only because i heard it was so short. It went on sale for Xbox a few months ago for 30 bucks, so i bought it and I can definitely say it was worth it. The combat in this game is absolutely phenomenal

I really loved this game
I think most people went in expecting something else, and were pissed that the game doesn't want to try something new, but rather be a focused game that is just fun
most people said, that it's like a Xbox 360 era action game (most people who called it that, meant it in a positive way)
so people expecting something revolutionary got a retro style action game and got pissed (Gmanlives for example)
This is what I don't get. People absolutely rave over Elden Ring and Remnant (which is the same cookie cutter experience) but for some reason this game which is a cookie cutter experience "isn't good enough"?
My only wish is for some sort of an endgame. Like just arenas of fights for us to just let loose with combat combos and badassery

A lot of the game reviewers nowadays are really mudding the waters, I found that to be very true when they bombed Ghost recon Breakpoint, then i played it and realized it was pretty good a lot of older classic games if they were released now, I'm certain the reviewers would bomb them.

Because they reviewed games on release. Sometimes games got better as patches came out. But not all reviews are geniune.
Its interesting, I did notice the inconsistency in review between critics and players. I recently pick it up for $30, just based on Flyin wild hog's track record. They usually make very fun and complete AA experiences, that look like AAA games.

It's refreshing to see these kinds of videos because so many only play the game if they hear it does good instead of trying it out for themselves

Evil West is an amazing AA game in it's own right of a way! I aimed towards it as a Christmas 2022 gift since it was made by the same folks who made the rebooted Shadow Warrior trilogy with me getting Shadow Warrior 3 for my birthday from my dad and him giving me this game for Christmas. I just finished my first playthrough of Evil West an hour prior to writing this comment on hard mode, collecting all cash, lore, and perks, thus am playing New Game Plus mode on the Evil difficulty since my five remaining achievements are from taking down bosses and beating the game on Evil difficulty and that said difficulty is absolutely zilch joke! Nice review btw.

@@YourHostCJ I’m only on chapter 3 in new game plus with my five remaining Steam achievements being taking down the five bosses on Evil Difficulty. Nothing really from beating new game plus which is the one shame of this other was good AA game.

This is a game I want to play but haven't pulled the trigger on yet. I tried playing gungrave when it came to gamepass and that was abysmal. I would just like to play as a bad ass Jesse, my name doesn't get used much in media. Also would like to play a strictly story game with some good gameplay. Everything has been open world games recently with so much padding it really drags the game down.
Also gamefly is the GOAT of my childhood, being poor that service really helped me enjoy more games than I probably should of.
I completely agree. Gungrave was terrible. N as a CJ, I fell in love with San Andreas. However, this game feels fun to play. I enjoy it. I will stream it again tonight on twitch if you want to swing by. Also, I have my gamefly link in the description if you wanna try it out. These fools said the same thing about “Dante’s Inferno” which was an outstanding game imo for the PS3. The price dropped for “The Evil West” too. Just bought it from the PS Store a few days ago. $29.99. I absolutely love it. Damn the critics. Play it and come to YOUR OWN conclusion.

yea, I hate when they review bomb stuff or they're unclear on the metrics they use to grade games. Everyone's system is different.
the game stays good until the end btw, upgrades and perks are all useful and cool
specially loved the tornado and the electro upfrade for the gatling gun that lets you go all ghostbusters XD
Yep definitely enjoyed the story and gameplay. It’s been awhile since I’ve enjoyed a strictly story driven game other than like COD.

Initially I wasn’t going to buy this game because of all of the mixed reviews on CZcams, however on the Xbox store nearly everyone’s review is a 5/5 which peaked my interest. All I can say is that I’m glad I brought this game, the gun play and combat is fun and executing the monsters is satisfying to watch. I highly recommend it to anyone who is hesitant to buy this game.

got me this game on psü recently, have not heard of it before and western usual not my genre, but the store trailer looks cool and hey free game is free game. Imagine my surprise to see it was NOT open world, that was the first positive, and as I keep played I just asking myself... games like this are still being made? Games that really are games? Pure entertainment? Boy I had a blast with it. Even the story, which reminded me of the old van helsing movie. Just a pure actionfilled and fun popcorn flick, that sometimes all you need for a good story. Was quiet shooked to see some reviewers calling it bad but I guess its like with modern movies, to much focus on deep meaning and subverting of exspactations, when a fun and cool adventure to turn the brain of to is sometimes all you need to rest up from the stress of the world. And seeing comments even on bad reviews, I really hope the game gets the love it desrvrs and jopefully show the industry that there certainly is still a market for this sort of game
think they'll make a sequel?

The game is good but IT is not worth full price. Thats just my opinion there a lot that I didnt like but I would recomend it. IT has potential.

In my opinion it's worth approximately $40. But it's all because I think that the developers didn't put more attention to details. But again I did enjoy the game and I'm definitely gonna play it again, there's just a lot a minor stuff prevented me to fully immersed myself in the game.

@@YourHostCJ I could be wrong but I think that I'm being fair. I'll tell you what I think they could've fix and you tell me if I'm asking too much. The first thing that I notice was that the environment had a lot of copy paste like dead humans and horses the wounds are in the same places same outfit same position and it's constant on everything mission. 2nd when go to calico town after a mission an a npc start talking to you the mouth don't even move and/or they don't even look at the player. 3rd too much unnecessary invisible walls, example at the RI there was 2 desk with a gap in between that I could fit but there was a an invisible wall and also constant on every mission. Its a linear game so I expected this but not at this magnitude it make the game feel even smaller. 4th there's a lot of objects like barrel, bottle, wooden crates that are unbreakable if they change that it would add a touch of realism and also immersion. 5th you leave no foot print in the snow or mud and no ripple effect on the water and the clothes don't get wet or muddy. 6th there's a lot of different types of monsters however they constantly repeat them for the mini bosses if they are gonna get repeated at least change the skin a little so it would appear like you're fighting a different monster of the same species. There more but that all that comes to mind. Do you agree on anything that I said or do you think that Im asking for to much? Nothing that a said effects my gameplay but it effects my immersion.
@@mechanicbaton180 so my honest opinion is that I think the gap between AA and AAA is smaller than it has been in the past. Like you said, these things don't affect the gameplay but they highlight the difference between games like this and games like God of War (in the details department). But me personally, I feel like that's what makes it a AA game. So i understand that it's not gonna compare to most other heavily marketed games by big studios. I'm more impressed that those are the ONLY issues. There's a new game coming out called Scars Above. It's not gonna be a good as a mass effect game just because it's not a AAA game. So i try to grade it against other titles in that space. But you like what you like and your opinion is your opinion, I can't say you're wrong. But because it was selling for only 50 on pc and 60 on console, I feel like they adjusted the price fairly for consumers. ALSO it's a Game to remind you of the PS2 Era so i think this was what they were going for. Kinda like that new game Wanted: Dead
Dis game is totally awesome and I kept replaying and newer adventures. So any criticism saying 'Crap', think again and try again. 👊🏿🇯🇲💯

I think the problem is it gets too much repetitive fast. And the colors makes my eyes whack. But still a good game. But not for everyone I guess.

@YourHostCJ It's like 15 to 30 fps. There is also that mission in the swamp where you need to fight this hive mini boss to save Edgar, but when you kill it, the game simply won't progress. I tried everything, uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting the game, but it's just broken. Get it on a PC or Current Gen Console. Avoid any last gen ports.
I played on last gen, granted it was a pro console and had no dips.
