The Great Phil Swift, Our Prometheus Suarez was a better player in general but when I think of one player that made finishing look way simpler than it was, I’d go for Torres. Every defence hated him, fast, relatively strong for his size, the link up with Gerrard. I’m so annoyed he never achieved anything at Liverpool especially with the 2008/9 season when Benítez had world class players in the side.

I agree , if torres stayed until the end of the season he would’ve scored more , his confidence would’ve been at the top again and the if he went to Chelsea during the summer it would’ve been a completely different story , his first months at Chelsea really did hurt his confidence , plus Chelsea played a slower style. He still assisted a lot and scored very important goals for Chelsea even winning the holy grail ( champions league )

2010 has definitely been my least favourite year supporting Liverpool:
Extra Time defeat to Reading in 3rd Round of FA Cup (on a VERY cold night @ Anfield)
Gerrard's look as Rafa substitutes Torres for Ngog @ Birmingham
Diego Forlan's extra goal to send Atlético through to the Europa League final
Being absolutely outclassed by Chelsea in Rafa's last game @ Anfield (Gerrard's pass back to Drogba a precursor to 13/14)
The End of Rafa, The Arrival of Roy
Mascherano leaving the day we lose 3-0 @ City
    Northampton Town
Defeat @ Home to Blackpool (Kyigakos upfront for the last 30)
Losing @ Everton in the Merseyside Derby
Thank god for arrival of Kenny & Luis (plus Dirk's & Maxi's hat-tricks)

Nah, this was still better than 14-15. At least we had half season of Suarez, and Kenny brought great positivity all around the club as well as offensive football in the second half of the season with Maxi and Meireles catching fire. We also kicked out H&G and saved the club from administration. All around it was a positive from where we started at the beginning by appointing Hodgson.
14-15 had absolutely zero positives. Terrible football. Terrible front line. Never looked like doing anything of note during the season. Got embarrassed by relegation side Villa in the FA Cup. Got embarrassed in Stevie's last game at Anfield and last game overall. Rodgers and Colin Pascoe were high fiving a draw at Ludogorets in an absolutely awful CL campaign.

I’ve always remembered 14/15 with more contempt than even the Hodgson years. For everything you said but most importantly how we disgraced Gerrard in his last game at Stoke & his last one at Anfield against Palace.
Don’t even get me started on that shambles of a CL campaign. Suárez really lied to us in 13/14, making us think we had a good team.

Vaital V I hear what you’re saying, and yeah tbf 2010/11 ended on a high with us battering teams whereas 14/15 ended in disgrace. I think I’m more assessing it with hindsight- 14/15 was bad on its own, but if you look at what’s happened since, Klopp was appointed just a few months later and we’ve improved every single season since then, so I can look on it more as a blip. 10/11 and what followed felt like we could be entering proper wilderness years, finishing 8th and sacking Kenny the year after. I remember losing to QPR that year after being 2-0 up with about 10 mins to go and just thinking ‘we are never, ever gonna win the league are we’

^in 11/12, that was. That was the year the Mancs fought out that insane title race and I remember thinking ‘why can’t that be us, why is that never us’. Even though it ended badly with Rodgers, I think he massively helped us to become a credible club again after 13/14, and I’m not sure that Klopp would have had his head turned in 2015 if it wasn’t for that.

11/12 was worse, it was the prime banter era for our club. I think King Kenny save us in 10/11 season and I'll always remember Kuyt's hat-trick against United.

During the second half of this season results really picked up, and it looked like Kenny still had his magic touch.
He would play two holding midfielders - normally Lucas and Spearing - then he would allow a fluid 4 man attacking unit to just bomb around the pitch, switching positions and being deadly. This was normally made up of the likes of Kuyt, Maxi, Meireles, Suarez, ... But for some reason he didn't like what he was seeing, and that summer he basically bought an entire new midfield in Adam, Henderson and Downing. When the new season started, the likes of Meireles were benched, and even Suarez was a substitute in some games .... He spent a small fortune to make us worse, and only Hendo went on to be worth the outlay.
