Steven Gerrard was so good from that deeper midfield role that season and some of the deliveries on free kicks and corners were so amazing, truly a shame it ended the way it did.

Call me crazy but I reckon Henderson’s red card against Manchester City cost us. We really struggled without him. Even the win against Norwich was very close
I have to disagree. Gerrard did not look completely comfortable in that deeper role and it showed during that slip. I remember a lot of people were saying the same thing at the time, that Gerrard is being played in the wrong position, a lot of other LFC players were being played out of position that season too.
@@thisisarmando8393 if i recollect correctly, the following season Brendan Rodgers was criticized for playing the likes of Sterling and Markovic in wingback position and playing Emre Can as a centre back in a back 3.Gerrard looked lethargic and his form dipped , could've been because of the world cup and the lack of morale in him because of all the things that happened (inferring to the slip and England's poor world cup campaign). But in 13/14 i didn't hear anyone complain about his position.

Studge was a natural finisher, injuries hurt majority of his career but I'm glad he was here last year to win the UCL with us cuz he's alrdy won the epl with Chelsea so I'm not that sad about him missing out on that this year but he deserved last year's ucl for all the work he did for us in 2013/2014 alone. Liverpool legend for sure.
I hate how people are forgetting how good Sturridge actually was. If he had stayed injury free he would have been one of the best strikers in the world right now. He’s my favorite player to ever wear a liverpool shirt

13/14 Suarez easily the best player EPL has seen
Easily one of the most diverse goal scorers in history!
Salah in his record breaking season comes very close ... but Suarez remains the most lethal player I've ever watched.
Martyn Stembridge as far as a goal scorer of course salah is close because he did obviously score one more but as a complete player salah is not close to prime suarez, suarez could do anything and was by far an overall better player

This was much more heartbreaking than the 2019 title loss. Mainly because of Gerrard and Suarez and that they won it in 2020 anyway
13/14 & 18/19 PL seasons really hurt to watch back. The quicker we wrap up 19/20 the better!! YNWA
13/14 was worse, we had it in our hands but it *censored word* out of our grasp. 18/19 City were relentless, I thought they were going to win every from the point when they got ahead.

We were improving and we knew we’d be back next year to challenge. With Suarez departing and dead weight being signed I knew we’d be lucky to make top 4

The 13-14 team had a big chance but to be frank the defence was just too leaky as great as the attack was.
I can’t really fault the 18/19 team because they would have won the league in literally ANY OTHER season. City were just absurdly good to win the last 14 matches in a row. That motivated us to walk the league in 19-20 and it wasn’t for a bloody Pandemic we would have been able to celebrate it properly with fans like we deserved to. Then City went back to being a machine and half our squad got injured last season...we can see how hard it is to win the league again. We still have a slim chance in 2022 but City seem to be back to 18-19 like form so it’s a tall order! I hope the wait for the next PL title won’t be so long.

This was my fav season despite us not winning the EPL.
Some of the attacking football is even better than current trio
One thing or two I remembered about this season is that:
1. How ruthless Suarez in front of goal,
2. And that iconic Sturridge celebration when he scored.
We may have missed the league title on that season because of that slip, but look at us 5 years later:

I remember everybody was doing the sturridge dance in my school
The slip was critical, but Liverpool should’ve had the league wrapped up by then, but the defense was horrendous all season.
I miss sturridge back in his prime him and suarez were tearing teams apart, just that our defence was admittedly poor
Defense really cost us the title. I remembered when we were beaten by Southampton, drew on important games (especially Palace game), and oh.... Chelsea game.

The most painfull season of my life...
Don’t think there’s ever been a striker as lethal in premier league history as Suarez in this season. Made it look easy, unreal.
Suarez was on a different planet footballing-wise to anyone else that year, even messi. Literally everything he did was genius. If he didn’t get banned for the first 6 games, the league would have been done and dusted way before the Man City game!

Yanited fan here, sort of laughed but at the same time I felt so sorry for you lot when you didn’t win the league. You deserved the title. The front three were just phenomenal this year and Gerrard once again phenomenal turning out season after season of nine and 10 out of 10’s.

@@reecechambers3467 If you remember well, in the away game against Man City, Sterling was flagged offside incorrectly and he only had the keeper to beat. Had that game been 2-2 instead of 2-1, we would have won the league that season.

@@KK-xs7hi We could've had a few which should've been disallowed as well. City is always a tough game, you can make more excuses losing to City. Those games were winnable, the Swansea draw as well, Aston Villa at home, those were the games which cost us the title.

Oh yes, The 'SAS' season. (Suarez & Sturridge). One of my favourite seasons as a Liverpool fan despite how it ended.
All newspapers and match of the day kept talking about Suarez and Sturridge.
Really sad we didn't win that year. If we had a defender like Van Dijk or maybe if Rodgers didn't get rid of Reina we would have won the title.
For me this was the best season I experienced as a Liverpool supporter! Even though we finished 2nd but my Gosh! ROdgers delivered a scintillating season of note!

Best South American player to ever grace the Premier League
Although we never won the league and with all the remarkable things klopp has done for liverpool, 13/14 is still my favourite season as a liverpool fan. Stevie G bossing it as an anchor, how incredible and vital Hendo was, SAS running rampant, flanagans goal v spurs and how random and unexpected our title charge was!! It’s such a shame we never won the league but that season will live long in my memory! YNWA ❤️
The MOST exciting season in my 20 years of supporting the reds. Championship winning year was great (stable and we were controlling every game). But i went into every game in the 13/14 season (esp the second half) feeling so pumped and excited and like we could DESTROY every team in the first 20mins standing in our way.
Suarez and Sturridge were so good that we almost won the league with a back 5 of Jose Enrique/Joe Flanagan, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Kolo Toure and Glen Johnson with Simon Mignolet in goal. That’s how good our attack was.
Those goals Suarez and Sturridge scored against West Brom are something else.

Luis Suarez was incredible this season. The quality of his goals, especially against Norwich City. Scored 30 plus 3 seasons running. Only other Liverpool player to do that in the Premier League era is Robbie Fowler.

That last game against Crystal Pallace breaks my heart. Suarez couldn't contain his tears as Crystal Pallace scored 2 goals and draw against Liverpool.
