Not a truck but I had an 02 Toyota Camry LE standard i bought for $1,200 & imo it is the Greatest year for camries. The interior was extremely roomy & the trunks are giant. It had 240k i sold it with 280k for $1,200. Same price i bought it for after 2 years of me driving it. I didn't want to sell it she ran like a brand new car. I never had to fix anything, ever! But i didn't pass for my license in time & i needed a place to live so i dold it for down deposit money. She sold in the first month if sitting on the side of the road. The very first person to stop & test drive bought it

I bought a new 2017 Tundra SR double-cab with the 4.6L. Six seasons and 50k miles later I’m still in love. I’ve always said it’s the “last real truck.” No gimmicks, steelies, AC, 4x4, Bluetooth and dual bench seats. It’s all anyone needs. We only use it to tow our 6000LB Parker pilothouse boat, road trips (smooth as a Lincoln), and to tow an enclosed trailer. I should have it for another 10yrs easy. Well worth it I saw transmission temperatures dropped dramatically and that is the life of your transmission were talking about. Hey Scotty,
I appreciate that you explain why you dislike turbo charged engines. Why do you believe that turbo engines really won't last and just blow up? I know this was an issue with older turbo motors in the 90's but with most turbos running roller bearings instead of journals and much better heat and pressure management and lubrication its hard to believe that a modern f150 ecoboost will be a junkyard king in a few years. What are your thoughts? Additionally, any engine driven hard and abused will fail earlier and get worse fuel economy, that's the nature of stress and wear.

Those f150s are already junkyard material. I know more than one that have failed miserably before 80k...

I have a 2013 and I absolutely love it. Yes they have terrible gas mileage, but the torque is honestly one of my favorite aspects about the truck. I have a 4x4 and I rarely need to put it into four wheel drive. At this point, it’s a challenge for me to see if I can go through some of these relatively rigorous trails with even having to switch it on.

FYI a popular upgrade on the 21 is a transmission cooler I did it to mine it really helped bring down the transmission temperature and I’m sure it will increase the longevity. My 2017 tundra has the transmission cooler they took it off for the 19 version forward. Not a problem I installed a high-quality aftermarket cooler with the factory thermostat and factory hoses and piping. All available on the Internet with a kit. Definitely worth installing much lower transmission temperatures now. Just like my 2017. I also plan on keeping these trucks till I’m dead.

I'm debating between a 21 or 22 TRD pro now. Leaning hard towards the 21. The new ones look tamed. The 21 just looks like a big aggressive truck. Not to mention all the great things I've heard about the 21's.

I fully agree with you. I have owned Ford's, Chevy's, Nissan and Dodge and out of these I liked the Nissan Titan the best, I owned 2. I purchased a 2016 Ford F150 with the Ecoboost and really had no issues, but the paint quality and fit and finish of the truck was just not up to par. I did like the motor though. I put a lot of miles on my vehicles in a short amount of time. The best MPG I got out of my F150 was 22 mpg and that was rare. If your running 75-80 on the interstate (like I do), it dropped to 17. I had never owned a Toyota, but know a lot of people with Tundra's and they swear by them. I decided to ditch the F150 and purchased a 2020 Tundra Platinum 4X4 Crew Cab. It was somewhat hard to find. IMHO, it was the best deal out there vs the F150 Platinum and Chevy/GMC. I absolutely love everything about the truck and don't think it is outdated at all. I did not want to wait on the New V6 turbo model, I wanted the tried and true V8. It lacks no power and believe it or not, on the road running 75-80 I am getting 19 mpg. The more "crap" they put on these newer trucks, the more problems. Enjoy the new truck!

Yes BFG Ats are not loud at all. I have them on my truck, suv, and jeep and they last a long time as long as your pressures and alignment are good. Now the mud terrains by bfg are a little louder. But they last a long time too.

Live in Austin, bought my '19 1794 new in July of '20. I was able to get the TRD Pro dual exhaust, spray-in bedliner, and the heavy rubber bed mat, all for under $50k.
I love the TRD Pro features, but I've added similar side steps, satin black wheels and bigger M/T tires. It's such a great truck!
A new Tundra that's loaded with every option other than the Fox suspension for under $50k? It sure keeps me happy. One of the best things I've done in years.

I had a 2018 Tundra Platinum and sold it to the local Toyota dealer for $2800 more than what I paid for it 3 years previously. I did love that truck but I love my 2022 Silverado 2500 with the Duramax engine and 10 speed transmission even more. So many trucks , so little time...

Thing is that Silverado HD is so much more of a truck than the Tundra. Tundra is more reliable (the past gen) but not by much when it comes to HD series. You lose some you gain some 🤷‍♂️. I know cause I own both trucks for my business

Not in my world, i need a real truck to haul my 5th wheel and enclosed trailer! You really need to sit down and see what trucks should really be capable of. The Tundra in my opinion has such a good track record is because it never does truck things because its incapable!
