I think the problem with the colour is that the natural light is not getting inside the apartment because it's in the basement. Maybe you could find mirrors that reflect the light whatever is out there to catch. The light would look brighter and it would lift up the atmosphere of the dining room. Using led light could also make up the atmosphere. There are different kind of colours to choose if you want more that just white light. It will also be the answer to your moving. You won't leave the apartment after the lights have been changed 😊

Nicolas, I am so excited to hear about you planting hydrangeas!!! My late Mom used to plant the most beautiful hydrangeas. They still grow back so big and healthy and colorful! To me it’s her saying she’s still here with me. 💖

Love the color you are painting on the dining room walls! As you were speaking at the end of video, the color on the walls was a wonderful compliment to the stone outside the window. I especially enjoy dark dining rooms because they are cozy and reflect candle light nicely for an evening dinner party!

The weather here has been truly awful this Summer! I have prioritised spending my money on other things at home - but the garden will be done over time x x
I agree that any new paint color doesn't look right until the entire room has been painted. Can't wait to see it. The boldest I am with walls is a very pale pale beige, though I see others whose rooms look great in bolder colors. That Eton's Mess was a great demonstration. One could replace the "double cream" with Greek yogurt with stevia and then use the rest of the recipe as is. I love a glass table or coffee table. I have both.

I think when your painting with dark colors, your room has to be very big. If it’s not big dark colors, make the room look smaller so make sure your dining room is big. Also, what I love is a white trim. Makes the color pop.

Love the coffee table! For sofa comfort, we keep two small soft poufs at the side of our living room and bring them in front of the sofa when we want to relax. You would need to keep the coffee table 24” or so from the sofa and you will be fine.

I've always loved a mixture of classic and modern pieces; my first apartment I had a mix of Renoir prints, squarish sofas and chairs that picked up a colonial blue from the pictures, and a few more modern paintings of flowers. The effect was relaxing and delightful, and I see the same thing with your glass table. Looking forward to your completed dining room; love the shade you chose for the paint!

I love your new coffee table! I have a small upholstered stool I drag over to put my feet up on when I watch tv at night. I only need to shift my coffee table over a bit, which isn’t too bad. Amazon has some reasonable priced and stylish options. I really like the paint color you selected. Looking forward to seeing the finished dining room.

I loved the coffee table and the way you decorated. I always found decorating coffee tables a challenge in my small house. One thing I have to say when decorating any part of your home, or really anything in life, is Function before Design. I learned this in my first year of college over 60 years ago, and it’s simple and so true. A couple of times I tried rebelling😂 and it never worked. Your home is where you should be comfortable, without having to adjust furniture to watch TV or anything else. You are a clever young man and I’m sure would have come to this conclusion, just saving you some time. Can’t wait to see the completed dining room.

I am on the fence about the wall color. In the video it may seem darker than in person. Given the weather in Edinburgh I would always lean towards a light color, which bounces light around a room.

Nice colour but in a gloomy basement room with little natural light there’s a risk it will look drab, especially in winter when you’ll need lights on all the time. Pleased to see the Pimm’s - so you’re back on the bottle 🍷 🍺 🍾 after six(?) dry months? Classy coffee table, just be careful you don’t walk into it (especially in the dark and after several Pimm’s). Could use the footstool as a poof for guests to sit on, placed next to the short end of the table. Then maybe just put your feet on the table when chilling out with TV and bottle.
The coffee table was a buy! The new footstool looks more expensive than Ikea. (I've been searching for a used coffee table all year and so far no luck.) love the way it looks with decor on it. Keep on with the dining room color, you need something a bit bold!
