There is so many small details that could make the game sooo much better and immersive. Imagine being able to sleep, sit in every chair/bench, eat in the great hall...
Npcs should change clothes depending on the season. They use the same outfit in the summer and the winter!
I was also expecting much more classes...
I like your imagination 🤗
i installed a mod where our character can sit and lay on our bed, also interacted with body movement with npcs. but sometimes it bugs.
@@aprilwoods92 What's it called?! or the link?
@@zoeevans8802 just search animation mod and you'll find jt
@@DMSJGaming you should add too: halloween decorations, chrismas decorations too, see how professors working on the decorations etc... restriction areas on the night just like the sebastian's mission
This is amazing, imagine if the NPC’s could actually interact with you, you could sit/lay in chairs and beds, and at night you were really put in detention if you were caught as you shouldn’t be allowed to be out at night.
Kind of like Bully
Fun fact: these things are supposed to be in a 2023 videogame 😅
The good thing is, technology is advancing so much. The new AI voices are actually scary. Soon we will have NPC's going around and actually talking to us. The video game future looks very bright.
I recently played a sample for AI controlled NPC's. You interacted them via voice and they would respond back to you. It was set in the Matrix world, and all you can do is interact with NPC's walking around the city. I think there are like 4-5 different NPC archetypes with 4-5 AI generated voices. They give you completely unique dialogue. It makes me excited for the future of gaming. I saw one vid about an AI controlled NPC in Oblivion or something, and it was super cool. Imagine if there was a "game" that was only a bunch of tools & assets, and an AI makes a completely unique game tailored to your interests via some sort of quiz or assessment process. It's pretty crazy when you think about it.
When I was a kid, I played Warcraft 3 a lot - specifically for their custom games. They had a map editor so anyone could create their own unique games (They were just single instance maps) ... I wonder what AI could do with something like that, and what it could come up with.
@@lucas.daniel I think games 100 years from now will be absolutely insane. AI will probably be able to make 3rd gen games in a matter of minutes.
When I saw the professors patrolling at night, it made me think of something essential element for immersion as a student: Curfew. Going out at night should feel thrilling and rewarding
So much of the student experience was underwhelming - no detention, no eating in the big hall, no casual conversations with NPCs, no sleeping or day/night cycle, the forbidden forest isn't forbidden, no relationships with you professors etc. the game honestly missed out on the one thing I wanted and I was pretty disappointed despite the good parts.
@@kiri7678 you wanted an rpg but hogwarts legacy isn't that, sadly there still isn't a good Harry Potter rpg
_Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time_ somehow managed to be more immersive than this game.
@@danielwithane911 yeh as a rpg it's not very good.
I wonder, is this mod compatible with the curfew mod?
Npc schedules is something i would expect to see in the base game. How games don't have that as a given in 2023 is beyond me.
Well The Legend of Zelda has every NPC follow a very realistic schedule, plus you can interact with any NPC
Oblivion basically had this in 2005
@@meliya7816 Fable had this in 2004 (it was part of the game design and I think the first major way it influenced the gameplay). Gothic 1 in 2001 had it too I think, though rather simplistic. Neverwinter Nights 1 modules used Day/Night cycle and schedules in different ways as well, which you could easily program yourself in map editor.
Basically, this is something that many cRPGs experimented with...20 years ago. One would expect it to be an industry standard by now, even if only in limited scope. Like, it's not hard to program three points of interest for NPCs to make the world come alive...why modders need to fix stuff like this all the time.
yes, and interactions... look at Bully
@@DrAhzek yeah, so many games from 2 decades ago did it and are remembered exactly by this feature.
Both Hogwarts legacy and Starfield coming without npc schedules makes it feel like developers aren't willing to put attention on the small details anymore.
It's a shame, really. I play Oblivion sometimes, and there are some days that i end up just walking around and checking up on their routines, because seeing an npc leave their job and go to the tavern at night adds so much to the illusion of it being a real world.
I’ve had so much fun in hogwarts legacy, the world is beautiful and so very detailed. But the lack of interaction was sad. How come we cannot even sit on a chair or bed?
Hogwarts Legacy is more of a Far Cry game than a Hogwarts game.
poor Sebastian at the beginning. He was all excited to talk to you and then you whacked him away with the door lol
🤣
To a lot of the people who wonder why these features weren't in the game, is because the guy who was the head of NPC interactions and AIs died in a car accident mid-game (there's a tribute to him in the credits) and the rest of the team had a really hard time working on it after that, especially since their momentum was gone. Curfews, companions, all that stuff was planned, but after that they weren't able to get it working fast enough so decided to instead work on finishing as much as they could with the time they had left.
Thats heart wrenching. They really should add him as a ghost in hogwarts. Let him roam the world he created.
That's a pretty bad excuse if it's true
This is amazing. Developer of this game should learn from this or hire modders for their second game. At this point smart npc's are a huge deal to make a world feel alive and give players the immersion of an ultimate open world game
they dont need modders they are capable of doing all this themselves they just chose not to.
@@alexisk4407 that's just sad. As a Harry Potter fan ngl the game was a bit lackluster. But still happy non the less because at least got a game and maybe we can a get a sequel where they take the criticisms and realize what makes a great open world RPG
devs know about this but they have deadlines and a limited budget
@@overdev1993The 'limited budget' argument is utter BS, but I completely agree that the time constraints killed this game before it got off the ground. There's so much wonderful content in the game files that was never completed because it had to be pushed out and someone decided "Yup, that's finished enough." and called it off.
@ecrradio7620 how many lines of code have you written in a professional/ commercial environment i may ask?
The biggest mistake one can make is to delay forever and not release because you want to put in yet another feature. A good developer does know this and can plan accordingly and a bad dev does delay after delay.
HL has a lot of unused stuff half done in the code. They know these features are important and they are coming. Just any dev knows what the last % is like in any project.
It makes good sense to release a product like HL before you invest more money - no one knew if this was a commercially viable endeavor.
It would be closer to perfect if the npcs are actually interactive, instead of just having their scripted actions/dialogues. My major criticism of this GAME and most modern games is that npcs are way too mundane. Player walks by the npcs, it's like walking into a wall until the player hits that dialogue button. Then you sit through the scripted dialogues and making you choose from prefilled choices from the devs perspectives.
Oh cmon, the teachers were already asking 'have you finished your duty' or 'you did a good job by doing that' by the time you got closer to them. But I believe they will add more random conversations with AI, but actually being able to talk to each one of them is at least 10 years away
@@tile996 Not true, it already exists in modded Skyrim, AI having unlimited lines of dialogue, and you can talk into the microphone and have them react based on what you said to them (could be a joke, could be something offensive or just plain stupid)
Every game needs this, it makes the game feel so much more alive.
@@Aberrantly I agree, but is this thing in skyrim mod available for every single npc? Thats what I was referring to. If there is 50 npc, it would need 50 different AI voices
@@tile996thats just voices.... so simple. World of Warcraft mods had that about a decade ago. You just need accents & then voices can simply be modified in pitch/tone/speed. Even The Sims had voice modifiers in character creation a loooong time ago.
Nothing about this is new tech in 2023.
I've been using this and another mod called Diverse Uniforms for NPCs for my current playthrough and it really adds immersion. I love it!
Hi..can i just ask a question..ive been trying to use this mod..i dloaded it from nexusmods, unpacked it..put the unpacked files to the ~mod folder of my game and it doesnt even work..or am i doing it wrong?same w the target npc mod..can u help me??tnx😅😅
What's the game version?
@@jcpoblete156 - You are going to need the Mod Merger and its accompanying checker. You seem to have conflicts. The descriptions of the Merger and the Checker should explain it a lot better than I could. Both mods are also Nexus based. Good luck!
It feels really weird that nobody is sleeping at night, just everyone sat straight up xD
May be in a future update they will fix that ☺️
@@DMSJGamingI think they will never fix anything about immersion. I think that they never thought about immersion at all. Just to do a game for everyone.
But your mod is awesome!! I will try it with a new game! Are you still working on it? I have to buy you a coffee!
@@DMSJGaming Unlikely since there is no sleeping animations for most NPCs in the base game. They would have to make one from scratch and somehow integrate it into the existing code of the game and make it appear seamless as though the game always had them. Such a task is beyond the skills of modders who only change values and do database edits
I wish we could sit down in the great hall and eat with our friends, and more immersion like that! I'm hoping the second one has more of that. I was also really surprised you don't have to sneak around the castle at night. It feels so strange to be able to wander around freely at night
Yes I’m actually looking for this. The game at night is just weird everyone disappeared and not even in their bedrooms. It would be even better if they sleep on their beds
This game is still worse than BULLY where the protagonist actually need to go to class and complete mini games.
Right. All they had to do was take things from Bully and Red Dead Redemtion 2 to have the most immersive game! Rockstar has that part down pat
@@bigzachful Yeah! All they had to do was spend a billion dollars and make the most immersive game ever! So easy!
@@harrasika they in fact can. It’s a AAA with really good sales. Even modders can fix some of it
@@harrasikawhy you gotta put it that way man 😭
That one kid sitting down and immediately going to sleep at his desk was me in high school
😂
Reminds me of a similar Witcher 3 mod, which main focus was technically to allow you to have companions, but it also added daily routines to the NPCs that could follow you. For example, they could now go to the market, eat a meal, take a bath, read books... All things they weren't doing before. Thet would even cheer whenever a band was playing at Rosemary at Thyme (combined with general festivities at night). It blew my mind, as I didn't even think that the RED engine was capable of doing something like that.
That looks like a really nice mod, I wish every game has this sort of features built in
This! This is brilliant!! Exactly one of the things I wanted in a Hogwarts game. One of my fav things in the movies was when the gang are just in the dining room discussing the movies' events. Now to look into a full time companion mod because my favorite part of the movies was when the gang were going around doing things *together*
sounds like your scratching the surface of its potential
you don't wanna get caught casting avada kedavra on mongrels tho
@@thegr8malachite370It's only illegal if used against humans.
My problem with the Hogwart is that it seems pretty empty. When you travel through the castle you are doing it pretty much alone. I had this feeling, that there are some students, but only in certain parts of the Castle. IMO it should be like 5 times more students to feel it a bit more with life.
Why this wasn't in the game in the first place, is beyond me
Honestly I like this game alot but I wish it had more of an rpg style to it. Being able to get detention, having real study time here and there, being able to sleep, sit and eat at the great hall tables etc
As greatly as they did, I wish they just would've done a little more
- RDR2 level of NPCs living their lives
- Scheduals of classes, meals, headmaster speech.. etc
- More classes, even if it's just a pure talk of Hogwarts A history class, long classes to simulate an actual school, losing points if you leave early or skip a class
- Yearly House cup, with actual competitive points to houses (this could be great if the game is a co-op up to 4 but doable for singleplayer )
- Sleeping hours, patrole teachers that asks you to sleep or lose points or get detention
- Getting punished for breaking rules, and being asked to do boring tasks like cleaning the floors or being asked to fullfill a teacher's request such as collecting herbs or chasing a hippogrif
- Quiditch with serious series of matches that lasts an entire year (in game)
- Adding a too serious mode to simulate hogwarts rules for immersiveness sake, or just play a normal mode for those who want freedom.
- Having a Goblet of Fire event at Hogwarts , and actually participate in it
(Places I'd want to see)
- London, I know it's a boring muggle world but I want to feel too powerful of a wizard yet cannot use a spell or else the Ministry of Magic would know about it
- Minsitry of Magic, and seeing lots of weird people, creatures, trials, disgusing as a aurra
- Diagon Ally, and the ability to buy books, pets, and have an owl that actually delivers messages to me and perhaps follows me sometimes
- Gringott bank, and depositing or withdrawing money their + use it as an inventory system and have some action their just like the PS1 Harry Potter game
- Azkaban prison, being actually thrown in prison perhaps for using a spell in London in the presence of a muggle?
- Visiting other schools as a Quiditch event or maybe a goblet of fire competition?
My dear you are daydreaming ! And sadly dreaming is not a word these devs have ever heard of...
@@Doktoren Sure, they just lack in dreaming (and a ten year dev cycle and a billion dollar budget). Not every developer has the means of Rockstar, gamers are just incredibly ignorant about wat actually goes into making games.
I do appreciate modders work. They invest time and expertise in some functions beyond the game base, mostly using their wisdom and creativity.
This one... didnt need to be a mod, should come together with the base game. But some kind and involved soul with the game put his hand and did the job.
Excellent and amazing!
I thought it was a default thing since Skyrim, Morrowind and Gothic had it like 20 years ago. Didn’t know the game doesn’t have it.
Imagine if there were strange happenings like a student accidentally fell out of the window and got injured, or a hurricane develops outside and everyone has to stay inside, maybe a car crashes on the school grounds, or the Hogwarts' train gets derailed, weird emergencies just to spice up the day (or night) and give more scenarios.
This is what Hogwarts legacy 2 must be like, but even better
This game could’ve been so great also I’m curious on why they left out the ability to be able to go to bed seems rather strange since one of the quest required you to attend class in the morning after finishing another quest rather actually go to bed than click wait on the map it’s more immersive also them adding romance would’ve been game breaking
amazing, I still cant believe that the creators dropped the ball so hard on this simple concept
Should have added more immersion like this, talking to students, getting caught, companions and relationships, instead of the 100kms of empty forest outside.
That's too much work
@@jmyers52995 literally somebody created it for a PC mod within a week
@@TheRogueJediiLook in the game files. It's the suits that said it looked finished enough to proceed with the publication. All of that and more was getting worked on.
People not knowing how game development works 😊
imagine the devs made you able to have companions like skyrim or gta hang outt missions, more areas, more interactivity/mini games, classes, quests, storylines more replayability, seasons etc like bully chapters. more quality of life. then they let mods work on the graphics and tying up loose ends game would be infinitely better. wish i lived in that timeline.
I love how one of the activities listed is drinking 😂
Love the mod, but why would the shop owners not lock the doors upon going home for the evening?
This mod is amazing! You could add one extra feature and that is like in the mission where you have to sneak in the library that teachers and prefects could wander around at night
2:13 Bro is actually looking into his smartphone
lol
that soundtrack makes me wanna play the game again
Reminds me of Oblivion when day/night schedules were incorporated. It was janky but mind blowing, coming from Morrowind. This is like the HP variant of it lol
0:22 the guy sweeped by the door 🤣🤣
The timing of the door phasing through the NPC was too perfect
make a mod where you add the skyrim NPCs randomly in the game
I was about to do that... but then I took an arrow in the knee...
Need something?
In that case, we need M'aiq added to the game.
Hogwarts legacy is just a harry potter skin on your everyday RPG game. Absolute zero depth
this is exactly what i was waiting for
the game is cool and all but this is what they should've done. one thing they should've added was when its night time unless you a certain year you cant be wondering around and if you get caught by a prefect or a teacher, you get points taken away and get sent back to your house. once you make it out, you're good from there. yea they missed so much that they could've been added to the game
Fully agree, Hogwarts could have been more interesting, something similar to Harry Potter series
Wow. Very nice. It's like Bethesda's Radiant A.I. schedules. As usual, modders are doing what the developers should've done from the start.
the vendors leaving at night remind me Fable 1 😁
omg no not professor ronan drunk getting tipsy at the 3 broomsticks drinking butter beer now thats hilarious!😂🤣😂🤣
😂😂
This should be on vanilla, like... come on... Bully scolarship edition managed to do this, it can't be that hard!
All these details provide a lot of realism to the game, creating the most immersive experience... If they manage to have reactions to our character's actions, it would be great.
''children attending various activities after school (games, DRINKING, etc)'' aaaalright, interesting
It would be cool if you could gain rapport with certain NPCs and they would morph into a friend group over time. And then when you enter the great hall for meals, you'd see them sitting together and they would wave you down to come sit with them.
If the game was more life sim just a bit it would be perfect
Its bizarre that you cant sleep in this game.
I always thought they should have gone harder with the life/school sim elements. It’d be so cool to have to sneak around at night and actually use the cloaking spell to not get caught. The game was great but it could have been legendary with some additional sim mechanics.
They should have borrowed from Persona 5 making this game.
Need that lmao, i’d watch your mod tutorial right now if you had mad it already
Excellent mod 😁👍!!!!! This definitely could a possible blueprint for the game's sequel! Actually attending classes and meals! Massive potential for the sequels!!!!
Theres so many thrown away mechanics at night like sneaking around- they could have made 1 hour long days andn 20 minute nights if they didn't want to ruin immersion
Still doesn't use the bathroom
Real gamers don't pee xD
I wanted to have my meals too.. they missed so much on that.
i didnt back to hogwart for a long time. I dont feel there so much missions, battle or activity inside hogwart. just lots of collecting things. they should`ve add more meaningful random encounters. Sometimes i forgot the main characters is still a student.
I feel like if devs got additional year for development we would have small details like this + maybe even quiddich, but MVP was good enough and stakeholders wanted money so it is what it is :P
Devs: wait, it's not perfect yet
Stakeholders: just sell the d**n thing 😁
Finally! No empty beds!!
0:03 no its not. Half the time theyre clapping awkwardly and the other half is them standing around
Wait, so how was the game before the mod? Is there a comparison video?
It’s like Fable
This reminds me of Bully ps2🥹
I thought you would be able to talk to NPCs. But this is just a hard coded routine. There’s no AI in it. Stop fooling people
This is just a step in the right direction, you can only reach up until a certain level during modding when the game engine doesn't support beyond that.
I just want to be able to sit at the table in the Great Hall!!
My hope is that the next game is a much more in-depth RPG with mechanics you'd typically expect from the genre. While I think HL is a masterpiece its more of an open world single-player game than actual RPG.
that gives me shifting motivation
I wish i can see more spirit in Hogwart hall
I would love it if Rowling creating a brand-new series expanding the Harry Potter universe from just hogwarts to include the whole wizarding world.
0:02 "While the AI os good in HL, it's not perfect"
What are you talking about? The AI is non-existent. The NPCs don't react at all to what you do.
I played so much of this game that I got tired.
The poor teachers will never sleep or take turns?
Great mod btw, my fave so far!
Teaching at Hogwarts comes with a price :D
@@DMSJGaming Hopefully they have a spell that permanently infuses them with taurine or something LMAO
Looks like all the NPC in the first bedroom was the same one?!
I was disappointed when after that mission where you can't get caught out of bed after dark, they didn't actually implement it into the actual gameplay.
Does Fig go to the breath hall for meals too?
I think it would be better if the students hung out like say 30 minutes to an hour before classes officially start since yes they are living at a boarding school, but even those have time before class to eat and then hang out as I said before 30-1h before classes. I think that would be much better. But alas im just nitpicking.
Looks amazing! At 2:01 is that annoying voice always present in a certain place?
Peeves the Poltergeist spawns at random spots inside the castle with random dialogue. You never know where he might turn up until you open a door while exploring/doing missions and you see him slide down a staircase or juggling with flaming torches or something.
I haven’t played it yet but seriously it wasn’t already like this? What a fail for the developers.
Now if only we could use chairs
Still no mod to eat your meal with them😂😅
bro i jus noticd yo have the same 1st spell loadout as me lol
Ha ha, nice 😄
Gareth being sulky cos you made him pay for the billywig stings. Like, bro, if it was so easy to collect them, go do it yourself!
that's brilliant!
I know! ☺️
The fact that this ISN"T in the game is insane to me
"Insane AI"... This is just the basics that any game in 2023 should have. THE MINIMUM. Instead, this game doesn't even have interactions. Meanwhile, Bully, a 2006 PS2 game, is infinitely superior.
As someone who hasn't played this game yet, does the time of day not affect the NPCs at all? Like no matter the time, they are always in the same spot or what?
Time of day matters for NPC behaviour, except when you have quest with one of them, then they will stay in a dedicated place no matter what until you trigger the quest.
I wish hogwarts legacy actually took place in hogwarts instead of being a student for a few hours and then pretty much never step foot in the castle again
Bully on PS2 could already do that
You’ve basically added extras, amazing!
The shops should be locked when they go home though 😂
Does this alter any quests where you have to meet said people?
No it doesn't
I thought it was a ChatGPT insert for a moment
I mean, all this is just basic Oblivion AI stuff. You know, The Elder Scrolls IV, Oblivion, a game that came out in 2006.
so you need to wait a npc for mission or find him by schedule? will this mod make problems with missions ?
No problem with missions, NPCs with missions stay in their usual places
What bothers me is the fact that there is already a great boarding school-like game that is a lot older - and smaller too - called Bully. Man, of course, not everything would work the same, but a lot of mechanics could have been used that would make Hogwarts Legacy a very much enjoyable game.
For example, the classes happening at fixed times every day and you having the option of attending them or not, but if you were supposed to take that class, but horsing around instead, the monitors would go after you to take you there, unless you had already finished that subject. Curfew and trespassing mechanics that exist in Bully would also work insanely well in the game, but those two mechanics seem to work only in a few quests in Hogwarts Legacy.
Another thing, while you can see students and teachers walking around doing activities during the day, you would find them all inside their dorm rooms at night, and no mod is needed for that. What a shame, hope they fix that in the next game.
Wish they would release DLC so I have a reason to play again already beat the story Multiple times but now it’s old
Ok, we had this already in Elder Scrolls Oblivion in 2006...That's why many modern games suck...
I don’t get some of these, the castle, great hall and common rooms being empty at night IS a thing in the game already
So a mod that do what developers should have done? Oh what's this? Bethesda?
I can imagine not really liking this. Since your character is mostly off doing their own thing anyway, they might appreciate at least seeing students roaming around the gates rather than all being inside taking classes. You need some suspension of disbelief to justify why you are not attending a class at the moment so you might as well extend that to other students so that the school has some life outside of the class rooms. In fact it makes it easier to explain the fact that you never attend classes but also never have any directly addressed absence.
This should the game must be sadly we didn't 😢
Games like Zelda already do it for years 😅
