One more useful tip I haven't seen anyone mentioning is to ask for a reward when completing side quests. The dialogue choices come off a bit rude but when you actually choose to go that way the NPCs handle it pretty well and they usually give you 500 Galleons. Actually, Olivander's does. I asked for a reward and he said he "wasn't happy about it, but here you go". Not verbatim obviously, I don't remember his exact response. But you're right, most people are very accepting of it, like, "of course, you're absolutely right". As an extra note for the the Merlin trials, if you find you can't complete a Merlin trial that very second - there were more than a few times I needed a spell I didn't have yet, due to me being an exploration nut and trying to explore a lot of the map relatively early on - do know that once you use the Mallowseet, the Merlin trial is permanently activated from that moment on. So you don't have to get more Mallowseet and come back to activate it again, it'll just be ready for you to go and solve. Still should always have some on you for when you come across it, but a good tip to know.

The Alohomora questline is something that becomes available a good 5-6 hours after you start, if you hurry. A great video. I have actually taken four characters to level 40 and 100% everything. I really think getting that 5th Ancient Magic slot as soon as possible really helps and to do this you will need to have level three Alohomora, because one (and just one) ancient magic beam is behind a level three lock. So yes, think about Demiguise, Ancient magic and Merlin Trials early on. Important note here, you need to do find the map room and do the first trial to be able to do the Alohomora and Ancient Magic, so concentrate on the Main Quest Line and Assignments when starting out.

Some remarks about this. I think learning Alohomora fast can be both a blessing and a curse, because while it is a bit annoying to be in areas where you can't open certain things at the same time it keeps those areas interesting for the future once you learned alohomora, so e.g. walking through the castle will be more fun for a longer duration compared to if you quickly cleared everything.
The 2nd are the unforgivables. Everyone should decide for themselfs obviously, but these curses can make the combat rather boring.
It can be tempting to use them since you got them, but if you have enjoyed the combat before with the need to break certain shields, counter things, play the mechanics, e.g. stunning trolls or using potions and plants or maybe even having the need to build up your combo to get another charge of ancient magic then you might find battles much more boring if you use the curses as they are way too overpowered just as an example you can imperio a troll in a goblin camp and he will probably kill every single goblin, then after he is done you can just avada kedavra him.
Very quick and clean and allows you to progress, but while funny the first time it does get pretty boring and I honestly think many people will regret using the curses too much later on because the fights are honestly getting much easier even without the curses just because of your talents and the buffs to your magic from your gear + extra ancient magic charges.

Being an above average gamer (meaning I just play games a lot more than the average person) I found most the game pretty easy to figure out pretty quick from literally just playing because the game tends to help you out a lot along the way in minor ways (even if you are stuck during a puzzle usually the character will saying something along the lines of a hint), but for the average or less than average gamer I can see how this video could be very helpful to others and it was indeed a well made video. Side notes I would say that are also useful but less general and more "fine-tuned" details would be -
-Moonstone is extremely available in the open world so I'd actually suggest NOT getting the moonstone production tables to save the money and resources for other things in the RoR. Not to mention every time you open up a new part to the RoR more stuff appears for you to convert into moonstone (paintings, mirrors, etc..) so it is pretty hard to never have enough Moonstone, unless you just never collect moonstone in the open world.
-Pretty much every "Challenge" (i.e. collection stuff, merlin trials, etc...) has MORE than enough locations available to finish all the challenges and have plenty left over that aren't needed (except for 100% completion for those that want to Platinum the game).
-For the Demiguise things, when you enter a location (house, room, w/e) your character will literally say there is one nearby. The quote changes based on it is night or day. Night he says "Mine now Demiguise" meaning it is night time and you can collect. I forget the daytime quote but basically says its there but "have to wait for night" in different words.
-For Alohomora it is not extremely crucial to level it, but it does open up a LOT of stuff (loot, money, more demiguise, collections, some story quests will have extra loot along the way DURING the quest, 3 Daedalian Key cabinets to complete house chest for the nifty robes)
-The haunted hogsmeade quest that allows you to get your own shop in hogsmeade (which is a pretty fun quest i might add) will allow you to sell gear for a little more than the other vendors in game if you are hurting for money.
-Accio can transform itself into Wingardium Leviosa (once you have it learned/unlocked) after casting thereby freeing up a slot on your spell wheel.
-Traits can stack for greater effect of whatever it is you want slotted into your armor.
-I would argue it is very important to get AT LEAST 1 of EACH time of creature since the OTHER creatures are what you need to gather from to "upgrade your gear" aside from the traits you put into the slots.
-I think it would have been useful for explaining that when upgrading gear you have to remember its MAIN STAT won't change, but it adds the opposite stat to the gear. So like the robes have "Defence" stat and upgrading it ADDS "Offence" to it and vice versa with like the gloves giving "Offence" and adding "Defence" to it. This also means when you find new gear, it will show you being either an upgrade or downgrade based on the item's MAIN STAT.
-Certain side quests either show up or go away during season changes, or by progessing the main story to unlock more side quests, thought these will all be available in free mode once finishing the main story so you can't miss anything in the game, depending on your personal playthrough. (I've always been one to do all available side quests before progressing main story, but in this game, there are some crucial/helpful things that unlock later in the main story that can be useful for some of the side stuff so play at your own pace).
-There is SOOOOOO much loot to find in this game that you have to remember to be constantly selling to clear inventory space to not miss out on loot while in the middle of something so you don't end up deleting a lot of stuff for no reason. The "treasure vaults" more often than not when you are near max level will RARELY give you something good so I would try to do the "treasure vaults" around mid-game (Level 22-28 realistically) since around level 28 or so leveling starts to REALLY slow down and it eventually becomes harder to find the higher end upgrades, so don't let all those vaults go to waste (unless you really need money).
-Once you buy the "seeds" for the plant parts and attack plants it is like "learning" it permanently so it is incredibly useful to focus more on buying the crafting stations as early as you can (I know the bigger stations can be pretty costly but there is SO much money available it shouldn't take crazy long to unlock them all) since they will be over greater benefit to you in the long run, but I will say the "random generators" can be pretty useful early on for the rarer stuff, but aren't insanely necessary. Same goes for fertilizer since it only adds 1 to the yeild when plants already give 5 each harvest.
-The normal beasts you put into the RoR give 3 resources each BUT the ones you breed (the offspring) give you 5 of said resource.
-You can't get every talent, but you get almost all the talents. It is set up this way to basically make a "build" for you characer. Like how you can focus on more of a potion/plant build, or a main core build, or a curse/dark arts build, or great utility for your main spells. Mix it up and have some fun! (I made my hufflepuff a plant user and my ravenclaw heavy spellcaster, then my slytherin was of course mainly dark arts/curse stuff)
Sorry for the insanely long post, but I hope this is hepful!! Again, great job on the video!

The thing about moonstone is that most people are pimping out their RoR with decoration, and that's where all the moonstone is being spent. If you are parcimonious with decor, and focus on fitting it out to maximize your stack of herbs and potions you only need minimal amounts of moonstone.

Also, I can't forget to grab the enchanted lichen that only grows in the same part of the forest as the spiders while I am there.. I heard there was a dagger with +9 to ogres in the nearby bar that I could possibly win in a card game, so I should get that too.. I should enter the local fishing tournament to see if I can win that nifty hat..

I am pretty sure I had put it all in the first expansion that is a long rectangle.. At each end I had a U bend of medium planters and I think I had the fertilizer inside of that semi-circle of planters on the right side of the room..The left side had the large planters.. My small planters were positioned with the medium and large planters on each end where the vertical line in D shape is the small planters and the curve was either medium or large planters.. Of course, I left gaps between the small and medium/large planters to be able to easily walk between them.. On the back wall opposite of the doorway, I remember having my cutting boards and hopping potion pots.. In the center of the room I had my crafting table..
The layout basically looked like this from the perspective of standing in the doorway:
      C I + D
C is the Large Planters.. I is the small planters.. + is the crafting station.. Imagine a horizontal line above it where I have the hopping pots and cutting boards along the back wall.. D is both the singe line of small pots and the U bend of medium planters.. Imagine a dot inside the D formation where I put my fertilizer stations.. I think that covers everything in the first expansion room you get for RoR.. Again, it has been months so I could be forgetting something..
