Yeah, I've been watching a couple play throughs and I've noticed that after playing for a while, they all seem to have forgotten Protego and Stupify. smh

@@drdreddmanofmystery9482 Protego is a spell that requires the right timing since it only lasts for a few seconds so if you miss the timing you will never get off that Stupify which should have been a spell that you can use instead of a reaction from a lucky timing. I could kill for being able to have those defensive ability that everyone else has but you don't.
Now as for exploring do it but remember that to get those better spells you need to stick to the Main Questline. I have a character who didn't learn the fly until she was level 17 which she got from finally finishing up the required Main Questline Quest. So she had no Talents and missing some important spells. Now you can get through the game and level up fairly quickly by exploring and doing those side quests.
But I recommend that you only do what is needed and stick to the Main Questline because those extra spells and having Talents is so important. Since certain fights would have been far easier with them.
Also since gear from chests is probably determined by your level holding off on getting them (except for those you find doing the Main Quests) might mean getting better stats.
I would also say, the tomes and scroll is severely underrated. Once you unlock the room of requirements, save up for the large planter box (1or 2 pot). And the 2 or 3 potion brew set. Thank me later.
I'm doing a Slytherin dark wizard play through first so avoiding potions other than healing as much as possible also avoiding plants.
My next play through will be Hufflepuff and will be going heavily into potions and plants.
You don't really need to get the potion brew set early on since you'll most likely never have enough resources to brew a lot of potions at once, instead invest in the hopping potion pot for the random potions it give, going back and forth to the room and you should be set for early game potions
The biggest early purchase I made. The three slot medium and the two slot large planters and the three slot potion machine.
Honestly I donât think potions and gardening are really needed. Like most games you have to pay big money in order to get set up to make good use of them. You get so used to not using the really good plants, and potions that by end game when you can start making them you donât really use them. I find this to be true in most games unfortunately.
3 slot medium, 2 slot large planter and the T potion station. Iâm swimming in resources so Iâm loaded up on potions.
I don't think the fast travel in Hogwarts Legacy breaks immersion due to the fact that this system is featured in the books and movies.

Though admittedly walking/running in the castle without the fast travel makes it a Stair-y Potter game. Particularly in Ravenclaw House.

If your inventory is full you don't lose the loot that's in the chest. You can go sell and return to get it. If the chest is in a area that you can't return to then you'll lose it.
I sell after each mission. Iâm trying to do these Merlin trails to help
I did notice that the big chest under the bridge didn't "reset" after I opened it with a full inventory. I went back later and it was still open đ Maybe I'll revisit to see if that changed.
@@KrismanX Maybe the legendary chests won't save the item. I know normal chests do because I returned to the one in the cage at the beast mastery building.
But opening the chest, when inventory is full, will set the gear to the level you had, when you first opened it, so after level ups and you return, it will have a lower level probably
@@KrismanXgo into your inventory and destroy a green piece of gear, they are all worth the same amount of money so worst case scenario youâll end up with another green that costs the same amount. If you donât have any green items itâs up to you to gamble

I have never lost an item in a chest I open with my inventory full. I always destroy something then re-search the chest and always get the item. Iâm glad that hasnât been an issue for me
The map is massive.. I'm absolutely love in this game I hope they release content in the future to keep the game alive.
Itâs very close to GTA level of perfection.
I always get a little sad when I open one of those chests with the eyeball, because they get so sad that you've figured them out and make these sad dog sounds.
I have four spell sets and I still have to change them all of the time đ. Different enemies are killed faster with different sets, like the Inferi need totally different spells that the Goblins and trolls. Then I save for the room of requirement and capturing beasts. I found putting invisibility and lumos with that set works, then the exploration things in another.
And the fast travel shouldnât change immersion for any of us that either read the books, and/or watch the movie. Flood power and the floo networks are in both the books and movies. Like how they went through the fireplace and Harry wound up in lower Hogsmead instead of upper Hogsmead.

I can give you some more tips
1. Save your talents points on getting the upgraded revelio. After you unlocked flying broomstick, you can do revelio on top of it, and it'll have bigger reveal area than the normal revelio.
2. Do the Sebastian quest that teaches you confringo spell as quickly as possible. It's basically the better version of Incendio, and once you have it, Incendio is basically useless.
3. Do not start exploring before you get the quest that teaches you alohomora. Once you got the alohomora spell, upgrade it to level 3 as quickly as you can (there are guides out there already, it's easy). It's one of the most important improvement for the quality of life for this game.
4. Once you unlocked your broomstick, make sure to just fly around and unlock every floo powder location, another improvement to the quality of life.

Incindio is nice with the talent upgrade. It's short Range frontal + area of affect fire ring. Nice if your surrounded
Incencdio is great if you pair it with pullspell upgraded to pull all nearby enemy's and Incencdio is upgrade for aoe.
@@MuffHam that's what I thought too in the beginning but now that I think about it, to be able to use it effectively you need both Incendio+ and accio+, which already cost you two talent points. Confringo+ serves the same purpose as incendio+ and you save one talent point. Other than that, incendio is useless outside of combat, because one of the type of merlin trials requires you to shoot fire over long distance, making confringo better than incendio in merlin trials.
Also, confringo is great for spreading curse if you're going that route with the upgraded talent point
Sell everything, keep only the highest stat items and then change appearance. Any challenges you complete or items you buy or find will be unlocked in the appearance selector.

Yeah one thing I seem to always forget to use... are the potions. I even put a talent point for "God-Mode" potion (the edurus potion that makes you invincible and reflects attacks for 30 seconds w/the upgrade) but I forget to use them lol Mostly because I haven't had *need* of them; my Protego timings are near perfect and I've barely used any Wiggenweld potions (I'm on Normal difficulty though, but don't want to increase it to "Damage sponge mode" either.
Btw the door puzzles, number 3 is actually an African magical 3 headed snake called a Runespoor. Number 9 is the hydra.
0 is Demiguise
1 is Unicorn
2 is Graphorn
3 is Runespoor
4 is Fwooper
5 is Quintaped
6 is Salamander
7 is Unknown (literally the rune for Unknown)
8 is Acromantual
9 is Hydra.

What happens if your pockets and fall and you need to open the chest in the number door and you need to open them but can't đ I forgot about them. Do I need to delete my character and then redo the character???????

if you notice when you load a game from main menu , your character usually tries and catch the snitch...quidditch will be in the game for sure, and i hope they add diagon alley and imagine they advance time into the 1900s when tom riddle was alive

Spell sets: don't forget to read the enemy's lore descriptions! They give huge tips what magic the best to use against each enemy types, and how to time them against them. Usually one smaller area have a few enemy types, if there are many spiders or inferius undeads, or armor guards, goblins, etc switch to corresponding set.

@@Jaserocks2 the field guide pages are probably the best way for quick level ups. You can get really far just by gathering them around the castle. In my second playthrough I was way overpowered when I started actually doing missions because of the field guide xp. I only did a few ruins getting up to 30 or 32 inventory then stopped because it's stupid lol.
@Zeze Williams oh yeah I have been collecting them every chance I get. I was severely overpowered by the absconder. Took a couple of levels, plants, potions and whooped up on it.
For the talents I highly recommend unlocking spell knowledge 1, 2 and 3 under the core skills tab as this gives you 4 spell sets using the d pad so helps in combat to have 16 spells set up
not worth it early on use the points elsewhere...two max maybe until you hit level 20+ where you have other spells. Remember you can just redo your spells and it pauses the games while you switch them out so really wasting a talent early IMO
@@dschuttner I guess it depends on your style. I don't like pausing in the middle of fights to switch spells, I was level 16 when I unlocked all 3 so not far off 20. At level 32 now and way too many spells for the slots I have so I'm always switching anyway now
@@SassenachCJ yeah once you hitting more spells you do for ease, but i htink those first 15 or so points its better to invest in stuff that increases your spell utilization
I saved my three talent points. I set up my spell rotation prior to entering combat and usually only have to change one or two spells out, if any. Which only takes me a second or two. I honestly think there's much better things you can spend talent points on than 2 seconds of convenience, especially given that you can't unlock all the talents as of yet, and there's no respec.
@Chris Davis like I said previously I like the way I did it, people play differently but it doesn't make any of it wrong. I honestly don't know why people feel the need to argue back with me over my play style

Right On!!! I am working on getting 100% everything before taking my OWLS exams. I already completed my field guides and defeating enemies. Currently at 76% complete of entire game.
You forgot to add when finishing a npc quest, it will ask you to pick options to give the item back for free or ask for fee, make sure to ask for a fee most times because they will give u 500 galleons, but if they say something after like complaining just say nvm, because if u pick idc still give me a fee then they will block u off and u cant interact with them anymore

... and I barely passed the third trial, as main quest.
I lost myself in exploration, roaming, fighting, getting a good 86% of challenges done, to the point that I stopped open chests around, aside some in dungeons, just because I will farm them later. I'm already one-shotting NPCs (with the right spells-combos) with my 100+ upgraded gears, that I'm keeping the looting for later hunt of 114 legendary items ....
The animals are all number puns.
0 = Demiguise, the statutes you hunt hold big round moons, like Os or ZEROs, so think MOON.
1 = Unicorn, ONE horn
2 = TWO horns creature (Graphorn).
3 = THREE headed snake.
4 = It looks like owl with glasses, FOUR eyes (like the joke with people with glasses), but it's called a Fwooper.
5 = FIVE legged crab creature
6 = Salamander, SIX because they both start with S.
7 = Grindylow (I dont think they are actually in game, but the are supposed to have ) SEVEN tentacles.
8 = Spider has EIGHT legs
9 = NINE headed hydra
I hate the stupid dueling feats half don't show up until you started combat then it says take someone out with stealth and I'm like "well shit u couldn't mention that before I throw a box at someone?"
TIP: Great visual help to identify the Harry Potter's Ancient Runes of the Runic Alphabet with one look, Runes around the doors:
0: Demiguise invisibility represents zero... (but just look at it, one fat Zero.)

I am level 27 with 24 hours of gameplay so far and I had no idea about the chests with the eyeball. I assumed I would unlock something else later that would allow me to open them (just like the locked doors).
I surmised that it sees you so it doesn't open.

There is a lot of stuff you can't do yet though so I wouldn't worry about exploration too much until you get a broom at the very least and then more so with new spells and getting alohomora. Many things you find you won't be able to do anything with anyways so don't waste time exploring to early on. You ain't actually missing much. It's meaningfull later on.exploration that matters early on is the castle
Soak up every inch of it and be massively rewarded with xp from field pages. But as far as exploration if the outside main world its not a big worry to slow down on that regard for the first while.
Been watching a few of these now and I just want to say thank you the way you explain stuff and even took time to freeze frame allowed me to get a better understanding than others who have said the same stuff keep up the good work đ

dude I've played like over 100 hours of this and I am STILL finding stuff I didn't find or even know in my first playthrough
went straight for the spells and folowed up the questline for the 3 curses and now im exploring definitly enjoying it more with those unforgivables in my arsenal .but to each their own method i suppose .
The worst handicap for this game is basically gear storage, bar none. That's my only major gripe about the game aside from Denuvo mucking with the performance. Despite the Merlin Trials only unlocking a limited maximum amount of slots total, some of those larger dungeon crawls will become a direct PITA that you will more often than not ditch more gear than sell them.
What about those God damn moons?
8:35 For PC players use the function keys (F1, F2, F3 F4) or the scroll wheel on the mouse for easy access to the spells that you set up.
First thing to do is to buy seeds and the tomes to grow more plants.
Also when you push left on the D pad itâll show you your surrounding area of all available items but if youâre on your broomstick and push the D pad itâll show you all available locations that you can visit
Unlocking your broom asap is very useful. It is essential for quickly finding dive treasure over lakes(fly over and drop in the water to dive for gear, then call your broom while in the water to fly away), completing hop on rocks Merlin trials easy (fly over each surface to complete - no jumping required - these are frustrating without a broom because if you touch the ground the trial resets), chasing butterflies on your broom to secret chests, use revelio on your broom to quickly locate nearby Merlin and fast travel points, etc. The broom is a game changer.
What are those trials? Cause Iâve struggled on one thatâs come up maybe twice and it looks liners are moonstones or whatever inside stones but no attacks destroy them

This is probably too late but I've noticed no one mentions in the door puzzles you can just look at the symbols and figure out how much they are worth, example the 3 has three heads, the unicorn has 1 horn counts as 1, the spider is 8 has 8 legs and so on.
I love exploring but I would wait to explore every inch of Hogwarts until you can unlock doors because your going to have to do it all over again.
I am having such a blast. I must say that I was wrong about how bad the performance would be. I get FPS drops, but it's not too bad. I had more frame drops in Elden Ring by far at launch so I am pleasantly surprised.

The game is out get it
You should use 4 attacks with basic spell when possible. The fourth does significantly more damage than the first 3 attacks.
It ends the chain if you do four basic casts. Sure, it doesn't matter much once you are too OP, but to maximizing combo damage you want to actually treat your basic casts as transitions to manage your cool downs. Three basic casts and weaving control/force spells to juggle or repositioning enemies does a lot more for crowd control than just doing the full basic cast chain.
But again, this is invalidated by just upgrading the cabbages and Edurus potion...A shame really because the combat can get so fun with the spells and focus potion alone, basically an Arkham game but with spells instead of punching.
You may have realized this by now and I may have miss heard but you donât need to go to the remapping spells to change which of the 4 you have set. If you just hold R2/RT before you make an attack you can then hit which directional pad you need and do it mid battle.
Use potions and invest in the room of requirement talents, they significantly increase the effect of potions.

Man I just brute forced the Arithmancy doors. Didn't even know there was logic to it until I found the last one that actually gives you the worksheet.
the respec traits recipe mod is the absolute best thing to hit the fan mods... (besides the better Broom controls for mouse users) The designers should absolutely add this officially...
Not sure if someone already said but at least for hogwarts I've noticed when the flags are black a side quest is available in that area

I would advise to not use talent points for a while. Until around level 25 I would save up like 5 points before using them. This gave me time to experiment with different set ups to see the best place to use points.
This would be good if you donât have a play style in mind. The talents pretty much align with a play style. If you arenât using plants/potions you donât need those if you also donât want to use curse magic donât need those.. if you donât care to speed up ancient magic donât need those.
@@iamjstew___4473 of course the more you play the more you are going to understand, in which case you are going to know what to do. So this advice wouldn't be for you. This is for ppl starting out. Even still, on the hardest difficulty, you don't really need anything from the tree until around 25 anyway. It didn't come into play in my subsequent playthroughs because I was already level 20 before I could even access the talent tree.
@@zezewilliams2063 yeah I was like level 18 when I could use it and looking at them non are really gamebreaking. The revelio one for sure ideal and then at least 1 of the spell slots. The protecto one isnât bad because you do use it a lot but I think you could get by with just the stupify does damage alone and maybe the double stupify. After that itâs based on what spells you actually want to use which you have good advise for waiting so you know for sure
@@iamjstew___4473 basically for an op build ignore stealth and room of requirement points. Then you will be able to spec out a crazy powerful witch/wizard. The only enemies I can't treat like cannon fodder are the trolls. Everyone else is dead in seconds, usually before they even notice me.

I was level 16 before I unlocked the talent tree, which was nice, but a big bottle neck that Iâve noticed is the Merlin trials.. I was forced to play the main quest until I had all of the spells required for the trials.. Bombarda and depulso are unlocked fairly late in the main story. Itâs a pain to show up at Merlin trials, roam around for 10 minutes and realize that you donât have the spell that you need. This game is worth the time, but definitely not worth the price tag. Itâs not very polished. You really need to know how it functions at a very high level to get the most out of it, and I donât want to have to keep track of all of it. I just want to explore.. But exploration is hindered by main story progress, weâll into the mid-game at the very least..
Always save before opening chests. If you don't get something good, keep reloading.

The inability to respec your traits is really stupid for a game that's supposed to be about playing how you want. I hate when games do that. I'm enjoying the game but the gearslot thing and the trait mechanic are extremely annoying.
Yeah everything he said is true but the game is so easy that even if you screw up everything or didnt know about all this to start with, chances are you still finished the story easily and are now just working on the "guide book" completion. This will just make you do it even easier. You don't need potions to clear out entire bandit camps at lvl 30+, if you are half decent with Protego you might not even need any Wigginweld potions.
Tip: there is a mod for talent reset potion, very nice implemented as if it's a part of the game

I see a lot of CZcamsrs saying unlock spell sets but you really don't need to as...you pointed out about the duelling pop ups you get in combat. It is often easier to pause and swap out spells to cover both combat and the duelling requirements it is asking you for.
And my other gripe about combos is...when facing a troll they don't work the same. Try accio on a troll for example...nothing happens. Try leviosa...nothing happens. The game even says use flipendo...yeah right after it charges into you and smashes its club to the ground...THAT is when you flipendo except, you are picking your ass up off the floor or drinking a potion because you dodged but took damage anyway. Trolls can just bugger up your combat...get used to certain combo's, get into a habit...then find a troll is unaffected by it....grrr! I actually like just dumping plants and letting them do the work. A couple of venemous Tentaculars and then drop a cabbage (two if the talent is unlocked). But I see so many CZcamsrs saying do accio then this then that then accio again blah blah blah...and none of that works on a troll. And then they show a video of a troll fight and they are tossing flipendo at it and it doesn't work because they hit it at the wrong time.
Saving the game before opening a chest with guaranteed legendary stuff...I never bothered as gear moves along so fast your legendary gear could be out of date five minutes later. At end game level it makes sense but earlier game, not so much so its a mixed tip for me, not necessary early/mid game, perhaps necessary later stages.
The rest of the tips are pretty valid and handy to know, appreciate you setting them up in such a nice concise way.
About the saving before u open chest. U save , do u just hard exit the game after u open a chest then reload?

You're wrong, if your gear slots are full, and you open a chest that contains gear, is still obtainable if you free up a slot, and open the chest again.
At the moment there's a bug with legendary chests, if you open those with full gear slots, they get bugged and you can't open them again, they'll fix it in an update tho'
The legendary cheats are what I was talking about and itâs something that hasnât been fixed

About the legendary chests:
Can you upgrade legendary gear to your level?
Otherwise I guess its best to save those until you reach max level right?

No I donât think you can so itâs probably best to save the chests although gear is so abundant I donât think it matters too much đ

I was holding onto legendary gear thinking I could store or level it up later, but my inventory was filling up fast because of that..
Thanks to you I know I can sell these now and just leave the rest of the big chest for the endgame đ
The chests respawn and will drop random gear. Once you're near max level you just get outside of the legendary chest, save game, open chest, if you didn't get what you wanted load back in, repeat until you have desired gear.
gear does not scale after the fact, better to get new gear. As stated just save the guaranteed chests for later in the game and save reload until you get the piece you need

Level 25 slytherin here and doing level 22 quests i would say prioritize main quests over side quests or youll be severely overleveled
think i unlocekd talents at like 25
quest do unlock so much potensials you might miss or have to go back to later on

The three-headed snake is an Ashwinder, not a hydra. The hydra on the door has 9 heads.
For those getting smashed in the duels, remember to press/hold triangle to deflect incoming spells when you see the yellow "spidey sense" around your head. The player at the end of the video was not making use of that feature and only dodging. I think we have to dodge if the "spidey sense" is red though. Can anyone confirm?
Yeah dodging when the symbol is red is the only way to avoid taking damage from them attacks đ

I do think the game isn't perfect tho but it just came out. I see them bringing plenty of performance patches and quality of life improvements to enhance the players' experience. I can't wait for dlc. I do hope we get dlc like level cap increase more spells a new game, + mode that brings new talents and an increase to the talent points you get. So there's a ton of potential for this game I have 16hrs in now and level 20 I still feel like I hardly scratched the surface because I'm the type that explores everything in games so I love it it's awesome
Dark spells can break any shield. No reason to not go dark since you can curse entire groups in two seconds then use avada kedavra to instantly kill everyone.
where do you find the green spells?

For the door math puzzle there is a diagram next to the one in the rafters that gives you the symbols with the corresponding numbers for those who like collecting everything
Edit fast travel breaks the immersion but teleporting exist in Hogwarts legacy you see it in the beginning of the game someone just teleport from with her standing there somewhere else that would be fast travel
Respec talents needs to be a thing
Actually #1 should be NOT playing on HFR performance. Hogwarts exploration and combat at 120fps is a drastic difference. Play with this on if you are able!
I wish we had a little gear storage box in the room of requirement.
I just wish you would see your character use the fast travel feature, rather than it just black screen and load you in.. like if you seen them throw the powder down and then appear at the location youâve selected, think it would of been a cool feature
Havent played yet, will soon - but yea if it just black screens, that's still fine for me to use. However, it'd be better with an animation/transition
Love the video! Loving the game too but I gotta say I hate the merlin trials. They are so utterly mind numbingly boring. I mean at least have enemies around them or something. They are so important for quality of life improvements I feel they deserved a little more than the 3 or 4 different types of repetitive puzzles

its a magical game fast travel can be considered a spell haha not breaking immersion at all.
If you use basic attack, use it 4 times - that is the first combo (4th attack hits for much more). Next good idea is to have 3 different type (color) spell on to always have a mean to break shields and debuff enemies before big attack - like with glacius / diffindo combination.
The 4th hit stops enemies being airborne so I combo 3 basic hits and use another spell so they stay in the air đ

I also levioso them before that, as often as I can. You can also do combos that keep them in the air and multiply the extra damage by a lot. Iâve gotten 30+ combo numbers. Also I found out that I got different loot after dying and re-searching a chest. I got gold the first time and the second time I got a night cap
I use freeze spell then slice spell it almost kills most enemies outright.
