I've been testing Leviosa into Descendo (Spell Wheel 2) and swapping Arresto Momentum to Spell Wheel 3. I seem to like this better as any enemy we can lift, they'll just die to Descendo anyways and we can then use Arresto Momentum to not only lift enemies for lower spell cooldown with our auto attacks, but the curse application makes our autos hit harder as well.

After using Transformation/throw and my barrel just glitching in the air and flying away, and then every enemy dropping dead, I was always confused at to wtf was going on, but just took the W and kept going.
Did NOT put 2 and 2 together to realize it was a bug with curse + transformation. Makes a lot more sense now.

@@anthonyl2022 correct. I played around with it all and didn't miss having no curses synergy there since any enemy we can lift with levioso dies when combod with descendo. You can still use arresto montemum there but then Levi feels awkward on the curse wheel.
@PlayDohBear Yeah damage is so high with late game scaling arresto isn’t really needed for the descendo damage. I personally like to put both AM and Levioso in wheel 2 (rather than doubling up on a red spell like Diffindo). That way we have 2 options to combo with Descendo. Then in wheel 3 I just put Depulso to have it available for puzzles or meme’ing guys after freezing executioners haha. Don’t really use other spells with the unforgivables at all

I like doing PowerPoints - There are a lot more combos I use with multiple wheels. I figured it would be better saved for its own stand alone video as I didn't want to overwhelm an already longish guide. You can see me using some of them in the gameplay clips.

Should I hold on to any legendary gear early to mid game since I will just keep unlocking stronger gear the more I level up? I’m worried I might open most of the legendary chest while at a lower level and then they go to waste when I level up higher.
@@dalyallday2057 No, you can toss them. Lower lvl gear has no use. No need to worry about the chests containing gear. I briefly mention in the video that we can always just go to the gear shop in Hogsmeade and buy upgrades for 500 gold. Most of the time, there are nice upgrades there so check regularly.
I absolutely loved this game. I did the side quests and Merlin trials and things as I played the main story and it took me 55 hours to complete. I wish more games were like this.

At level 25 I just literally walk in a group of enemy and close my eyes then spam everything and all enemies are dead. Your gears do all the jobs.

My favorite combo right now is expelliarmus, accio, three/four basic attacks, arresto momentum, descendo. It's pretty fun. And if I use a focus potion, I can keep them in air for a while. Doesn't work on trolls or dugbogs of course, but it's fun to use on ashwinders and goblins.
Here's the thing, I played first time through on hard, about mid way through the game between Fall and Winter, I felt the game was at it's hardest which was very enjoyable. After winter, weaving clothes and stacking traits makes the game so easy even on hard. I'm near 1 shotting most enemies that aren't trolls. I really feel like they need to have a higher difficulty where you NEED to utilize the traits and upgrading to be even having a chance, because now everything feels very menial and unrewarding. I'm also disappointed in lack of post story content, they could've added like a new mob that appears that's harder, like old death eaters or something similar to the death minions you see in the 3rd trial. Overall I love the game, if you know how to build you can be OP
I agree. Great game but difficulty becomes an afterthought after a while. That's why I'm enjoying Speed running the Battle Arenas. Feels like a real challenge.

yeah, the game is just too easy, and some things are unbalanced (herbology 3, wtf) because everything scales exponentially instead of additively.

Diffendo is really my favorite spell tbh. When you aim it just right and it line of sights multiple enemies. Chef's Kiss.
My go to right now is Flipendo > Descendo > Glacius > Diffendo

Sadly the game is WAY to easy even on hard. Only at the start it was a small challenge. Of course it's not a Nioh or Dark Souls, I get that. But there should be a real hard difficulty and not this one. Later in the game it feels like a cakewalk.

I am so OP in this game now that I have to be “gentle” to my enemies so I have the time to complete dueling feats.. even my basic attack can nearly 1 shot enemies 😂

I’m now on my third play through. I must say, I agree that there is no endgame and it is lifeless after you finish it, however as other people have stated - It’s definitely open to DLC in the future. The game already has so much replayability, I’ll be kept busy for a while.

I am closing in on the end of my first playthrough and I feel no need for endgame content. The game is complete without it. Definitely getting more than I hoped out of just one playthrough, and maybe I'll come back for another if some dlc gets released in the future.
Playing ghost of Tsushima, Hogwarts guide book feels like GOT objectives. They also had multiplayer mode. The gameplay feels exactly the same but Hogwarts.
I feel like the game is just like Tsushima, that a surprise multiplayer is coming for our wizard characters. I mean the hotkey spells are exactly the same. I only hope the devs surprise us with a multiplayer mode.

Probably not, but it does guarantee curses lasting longer to just wipe the map with AK. Crucio/spread curse, use all ur other curse spells/spells that apply curses on remaining enemies that is out of Crucio's spread range, and press AK.
Nice tutorial. I would love to see a plathrough from you since most other content creators seem to ignore the possebilities of spell combos and/or using enemies weaknesses what is quite frustating to watch. They run around with all red spells and spam them until the mobs are dead ... yuck.

One question: How do you switch between the different talent rows? With the mouse wheel? I do it with the mouse wheel but find it very uncomfortable.
You're welcome! I have separate key bindings for each spell wheel. 2x mouse buttons for 1 and 2 and mouse wheel down for 3, up for 4. I re-binded the mouse wheel to function as direct swaps vs. going up and down.
Side note: if you're on PC, you can download a Talent Reset potion mod.
it is possible to swap the "traits" that we put in to the equips ? or they are lost forever if we put them into low level equips?
Question @PlayDohBear… do you use any keybindings on switching spell bars/triangles? Would be curious of any keybinds changes you made. Do you ever flex in bombarda?
2x mouse side buttons for spell wheel 1 and 2. Then I rebinded the scroll wheel down for spell wheel 3 and up for spell wheel 4. This way I know each binding for each spell wheel. I did not like that scroll wheel switched between a 4. Took a bit to get used too but it's ez pz now.
Bombarda is usually on wheel 4 for the single target combo.

Good video. Baseline is tho that combat in this game, while fun, is brain dead easy.
So far, I just stand there and perfect Protego/roll since enemy attacks take a house elf's lifespan to hit you and are telegraphed like crazy. Pretty sure you can kill any enemy in the game at level 1 since all you need is basic attacks and your endlessly spammable defenses.
If you want more of a combat challenge like I did. I started speed running the Battle Arenas with no items allowed (plants and potions) to see how fast I can go. If you want to check it out. czcams.com/video/DSGDDgkVeNU/video.html - to me, coming from a Speedrun background from outriders feels right at home and the challenge is great trying to find out ways to go faster.
@PlayDohBear yeah, I've been trying to play the whole game with no Wiggenweld potions and no plants (which are basically AFK Cruise Control).
I hope they release an update with a "Nightmare" difficulty that ups the challenge significantly. The combat system and spellcasting are very fun, it's just a bit too easy to become very OP very fast.
Then again...I have a very long list of things I'd like to see added to the game. I love the game in its current state, but there are so many ways that DLC could add massively to the game. Quidditch. Permanent/semi-permanent companions for more roleplay flavor, more differences between the houses...
I've been playing a completely non-curse variant with Concentration III on everything and it seems equally bonkers. In some cases maybe moreso (seems to affect protego reflect and protego mastery damage, so you can often one-shot groups around you with a single perfect protego), and seemingly ancient magic as well? At least, I very nearly one-shot ogres with it. And if you flip their club up then do glacius > incendio, that will insta-kill ogres too. No curses needed. Of course, herbology still seems like the most busted and OP build out there, but duelist builds are just more fun to play ;P
Concentration only affects our red damage spells. This I have tested. Does not work on our throw/ancient magic. You're probably experiencing the broken player scaling which I go over in my new tier list video.I am a dodge roll spammer so Protego is not in my vocabulary haha. I do admit I need to get better at Protego, but my muscle memory wants me to dodge roll.
@@PlayDohBear I love Protego so much! I discovered Duelists will actually fire two blockable bolts and you can defendo both. But then I started to get too good at timing and the reflected first bolt would interrupt their second ;) Fun stuff though!

Your missing out on an op depulso mechanic, use tranform on an enemy then depulso the transformed for an insta kill especially if you have thr trait for transformation that turns them into explosive barrel you can then deoulso the enemy into others for area damage and an insta kill

@@MrWanted000 I just rotate my spell wheels. Combos become less of a necessity in the late game. You just 1-2 shot most enemies that aren't elites. And for elites, Spell wheel 4 combo does the trick or ancient magic.
Looks strong. But also a lot of work. I'll stick to drinking potions and throwing plants. Just as fast but way easier.
Are there any mods for a Morality system? Being sent to Azkaban if you're seen using the three unforgivable curses? Also can you turn down the white highlighting of characters during combat? (For better immersion)
Yes, I think it's either on Nexus Mods or it's a Paid mod from someone's Pateron.
Do you have any tips on quick leveling? Side missions take foreverrrrrrrrr and I’m already done with all the main missions
Just doing Battle Arenas and collecting Field Guide pages. Lvling is pretty annoying but not as bad as some other games.
There are a lot of misconceptions about leveling, but as Prof. Weasley says at the beginning, completing challenges is the ONLY way to earn XP. So battle arenas are great, but only as long as you still have enemies to kill in your combat challenges. For example, if you've completed all the goblin challenges under combat, killing goblins no longer gives XP.
So, if you're looking for ways to level, just check your challenges, and see what you can work on. Pages (doesn't matter if they're Revelio, or any of the other types of pages, though only Revelio pages count towards the Collectibles trophy), balloons, landing platforms, merlin trials (until you complete the challenges, but all are needed for the trophy), etc.
when do you suggest I start upgrading my gear and adding traits? so far i’m level 32 and I have a few legendary pieces. I’m not sure if I should upgrade them or wait till I level up and get higher level gear & upgrade.
Honestly as long as you have the material for the upgrades, you can start right away. I was at the point at around lvl 30ish to where I could upgrade everything to lvl 2 (since I hadn't progressed the story yet for the lvl 3 materials). So that's what I did, upgraded anything that had higher stats, including traits. I'd start adding traits whenever you are able too in the game. They're super cheap material wise.
@@PlayDohBear sounds good, I have plenty of materials. if I use traits on my gear. Is it possible I use the same traits on other pieces of gear or is it a one time deal?
@@itbewhatitbemyg Yep, you can put it on any piece of clothing. Just 1 trait per clothing though.
@@PlayDohBear oh sick, let’s say you use the same trait on every piece of gear for a spell. would that spell basically turn into avada kedavra? or using the same trait doesn’t have more of an effect?
@@itbewhatitbemyg I go over this in the Traits Damage w/Numbers section of the guide. But yes, Traits stack and some better than others. It wouldn't turn a spell into Avada to 1 shot every enemy or anything like that, but it would make them deal a lot more damage.
Depulso is dependent on if you can push them into walls or off cliffs, otherwise I just do it to fill my duel feat challenges

Best ever combo cheese is cooldown potion with mastery talent with killing curse and lumos

Yea it’s kind of annoying because if I do 1234 in the order you have a circle starting with x I would be doing like 4 31 for example with your first wheel but I guess once I use them enough I’ll get used to it thank u for the video I was in the end game already but luckily I saved like 5 perk points so was able to do your setup and man what a huge difference

Do you think Curse Sapper is useful? Seems like you get so little HP back, and if you do the avada combo where you wipe them all, you regerate HP after battle
Yeah it's worth it but not super necessary. I still take it though.
I skipped it. You get 25 wiggenweld potions, healing is never an issue in this game
I max the stealth tree, you can just sprint around one shotting everyone in camp. I understand not wanting it tho if you enjoy the fighting and want it to be more challenging
Plus with the invisible potion talent you can also pop a potion and sprint around spamming totalus

i actually run the same kind of build but i have a very different approach my build does a little less damage but i can apply curse much easier and it's much cheaper talentwise to build, now i'm level 32 and i'm going to change one spell once i unlock it's respective talent but right now here's what i run
Before i go into Spells i Need to talk about talents first
For spells grab
Incendio Mastery
Confringo Mastery
Descendo Mastery
Bombarda Mastery (this one i would grab last i will explain when i get to spells)
For the dark arts spells you only need to grab 5 talents
Stunning Curse
Disarming Curse
Blood Curse
Enduring Curse
Curse Sapper
For the core you should grab every talent regardless of build they're all good but for this build specifically you need
Ancient Magic Throw Expertise
Protego Expertise
Stupefy Mastery
Stupefy Expertise
Protego Mastery
You don't really need this but Contrary to popular belief I heavily recommend Getting all 4 of the stealth talents, it can make the game so much easier
Now for spells
(i run my spells yellow, purple, red and my 4th spell will be placed next to it's respective color e.g. yellow, yellow, purple, red or yellow, purple, purple, red or yellow, purple, red, red etc)
My First page for spells I Run
Glacio- Personally I think this is the strongest Control spell since it has a fairly decent cooldown, it can freeze targets WHICH can allow you to use petrificus totalis and the next instance of damage a frozen enemy takes is increased by a ton and with the talent it can be pretty good for aoe damage
Descendo - the main reason why i think this is the best Force spell is because none of them are really that great and although accio isn't bad, bringing enemies towards you isn't something you should want, descendo can do good damage, has a fairly low cooldown, can interrupt enemy attacks just like every other force spell and with it's talent it can deal damage and interrupt any other nearby enemies too
Expelliarmus - Half of my Build relies of this spell, due to how low it's cooldown is mixed with the talent that allows the spell to curse enemies this is the core of this build, it's even better against enemies with weapons too since you can disarm them and with the ancient magic throw talent you can do a ton of damage with their own disarmed weapons, the only downside this spell has is its low damage but its upsides make this the one of if not strongest spell in the game imo
Confringo - if you haven't noticed none of my spells are necessarily the best at it's job but rather they all have so much utility that they are the best for me, confringo is one of those spells too, it does decent damage, has a decent cooldown, it applies burn damage which can help against all enemies especially the inferi and with its talent it deal with 4 enemies at once (since u deal damage to one target and 3 mini homing shots attack other enemies) when i explain the build this will make more sense on why it's so useful
Second Page
Levioso - I personally Don't like the transformation spell, it has a very long cooldown and even though u can deal a ton of damage with it, levioso has so much more utility that i just prefer it overall, it can take an enemy out of the fight for a decent amount of time and it has a good cooldown, relative to the other control spells this one is personally the nicest
Accio - although i Dislike accio since it brings enemies to you it still has its upsides, mainly because it can handle enemies that are hard to reach and because of it's relatively decent cooldown it's great for dealing with purple shields
Diffindo - This spell works amazingly with the build i run since it does great damage at any range and it's cooldown is still great for the damage it can output, i don't like it's talent because unlike other spells where the talents just work you need to line enemies up for this talent to work effectively and because of how open the areas where you fight enemies are i just don't think it's worth a skill point
Incendio - i like incendio for the exact opposite reason of why i like Diffindo, the spell itself is okay, it does decent damage and has a low cooldown but you need to be extremely close to the enemies for this spell to even do anything but it's talent is amazing since it's a radial area around you and it does good damage too, against inferi which surround you, using this spell without the talent might only make one or two of them vulnerable to damage but with the talent it makes all of them vulnerable
You can run other spells too like bombarda is a good option but personally the other spells seem to be good at one thing and that's it
so how does this build work:
long story short this build basically focuses on cursing as many enemies as possible and keeping enemies cursed, this is why I prioritise cooldowns and utility over damage because with blood curse, constantly dealing damage to multiple enemies with spells like confringo and descendo and also using combos like glacio and diffindo to nuke enemies, this is why making sure that you have every protego and stupefy talent is unlocked and running expelliarmus is a must along with their respective talents (stunning and disarming curse) you can easily keep hordes of enemies curse and with the blood curse allowing you to spead damage and curse sapper allowing you to also heal from killing enemies, you can be a force to be reckoned with
Solid loadout. Glad you're enjoying the game Wonder! I'd highly reconsider the transformation talent with the interaction I mention in the video (1st combo). Having access to an Avada Kedvra with a 20 second cooldown is no joke. Also turning most enemies into exploding barrels to deal massive damage is nice.
I do wish that they let you get the Avedra Kadrava killing curse earlier in the game.

There are more chests. The bandit camps won't show up if you have not discovered them. Check out this link: gamerguides.com/hogwarts-legacy/maps/world-map - It's an interactive map of where you can find all the things. I think it's not completed 100% just yet, but you should be good.
You can also use the Cheese strat I showed in the video when you find your next Bandit Camp.
i would say yes, i waited to open chests until i was level 35 and had really good gear for the rest of the story from that point
@@austincarney9814 Gear is plentiful at the gear shop in Hogsmeade. You can find easy legendary upgrades there for 500 buckeroos.
I find Crucio>Attack however many times there are enemies>Avada Kedavra.... kinda kills everything and I don't need to combo anymore XD... Or I just sneak through and Petrificus Totalus everyone... sprinting up stealthed and just 100>0 dead everyone.

When should I start applying traits? I’m level 26 and gear swapping is still semi frequent, but definitely slowing down.
All the time for any gear you get. Just breed the pets and you have infinite resources. Don't forget to upgrade gear lvl too.

How are you handling utility spells like Lumos, beast actions and what not? Just slotting them in on the fly or at endgame you hardly need them?
@@kangaroochili I just mainly use all 16 damage spells and slot utility spells when needed in puzzles.
@@PlayDohBear I slotted Unforgivable III into all my pieces and, wow, the damage is intense.
I like the Bombarda, Flipendo, Descendo and Glacius set.
Fairly versatile. Does heaps of AoE damage if enemies are close. Then the Flipendo>Glacius>Bombarda combo chunks in single target fights.

I run similar to this , but I went 3 pieces with Unforgivable and 3 pieces with concentration , idk feels better that way to me :)
Also super good. I've been messing with different traits combo but keep coming back to this one lmao. Once I get to 40 is when I can really start min/maxing how many UF 3's I need to actually 1 shot the higher HP trolls, then add different traits to provide damage to my spells w.o needing a curse (mainly for speed running arenas). Those higher offensive stats with lvl 40 gear will make a difference.
Isn’t ambush better than unforgivable? The damage is the same but there’s no need to apply a curse (which relies on skills with cooldowns or waiting for a stupefy proc.) With stealth, you can directly one shot everything with red spells, petrificus, or ancient magic if you’re feeling extra. Also throwing objects that one shot enemies with no cooldown is broken. With this one shot stealth build, you don’t even need to worry about enemy shields since they don’t have time to even use them. No need for any other spells except for red spells, which are more spammable than dark spells too. I thought it would be boring but it’s surprisingly fun spamming nukes while stealthed.
If you prefer that playstyle yeah, almost as strong as unforgivable (damage output is nearly the same, minus the 5% extra damage enemies take when cursed). I mentioned this in your other comment, but it really takes no time to apply curses. Just depends on the type of gamer you are. There are many advantages to curses and curse synergy that Ambush/Stealth gameplay can never accomplish. For example: czcams.com/video/DSGDDgkVeNU/video.html - Take a look at wave 3 and the final wave here. Would not be possible w.o curses/it's synergies.
Also stealth gameplay with Ambush would not work at all in Battle Arenas. Remember, you don't get any Ambush damage if you are invisible via the Invisibility potion. Relies on disillusionment.

@@PlayDohBear Don’t get wrong, it’s a really nice game. But there are issues no one talks about. Like Hogwarts. The castle is made beautiful. But there’s no life in it ones you’ve finished the story. The biggest issue I see is the duelling club and accio-duel. Like why can only take part in those 4-5 times and then never again. It just doesn’t makes sense. There should be more classes with an in game clock so when you don’t go to class you have to look out for not getting catched by the teachers. Same when going out at night. Or just have look at the npcs during night. There ist no one because they should sleep. But the beds are all empty. I think avalanche could have bring live to the castle by removing the gear-mechanic and only let you upgrade your stats by visiting classes. Those classes then should have been like a little quest as we know it from the chamber of secrets game. I really liked the game during the story. But now it’s just boring and actually reminds me of assassins creed (Syndicate was the last one I’ve played. Those games also don’t have have a endgame except from finding chests.

same but tbh u only need 1 or two combat wheels and the rest for beasts and puzzles ..etc. since there is no real end game and by the time u changed to ur second wheel u probably already killed everyone anyway 🤷♂️

fun video to watch, but the easiest way to wipe out an enemy camp is to pull out a mandrake while wearing deafening iii * 6. EVERYONE drops dead in seconds. and while dying, they're too stunned to attack.
Actually you'd want to run 3x herb and 3x deafening. This provides the highest mandrake damage possible. But yeah plants are op. Deafening x6 is 725 damage for mandrake and 3x herb, 3x deaf is 1073.

Cloak is the Hufflepuff house robe you get from the Dandelion keys quest. The outfit is from a Challenge (can't remember which one atm, just check each challenge section). Same goes for the face mask thingy.

Correct. 114 offense or defense. Then you can use the loom to upgrade the 2nd stat. Max 450 offense and defense with perfect gear, according to the data mined data.

I'm getting better at using Protego instead of dodge abusing. It's handy sometimes but yeah dodge FTW.
Yeah bcs it's easier to use bcs you don't have to think about red attacks just dodge all but more stupify = more damage with talents which is always good also it can break shields with quite aoe
In normal mode, Protego is great, since Stupefy breaks shields. However, in hard mode, it's much less useful, and you have less time to react, so maybe best to just always dodge in hard mode. Note: in the 2nd trial, when the final boss uses the twirling mace attack, that CAN'T be dodged, only blocked with Protego, so in that case only, Protego is necessary. That's the only attack I can think of that can be blocked but not dodged.
