Just bought an 07 sierra. These are amazing videos. It takes some of the fear of doing the install myself away.
You're a great teacher, easy to understand and positive! Thanks for the help!
I have the same truck, and found the OEM back up camera on the tail gate handle and thank you so much for the tutorial
This video was WAY too good! So clear and direct in all the explanations. Idk if you work for them but you definitely sold me on the product haha
Thank you for explaining the wiring thoroughly, all the videos I've watched on this subject don't explain very well, thanks again...!!
Thank you so much wish i had seen your video before investing a couple hours trying to figure it out
Man this video answer all my questions. Thanks for sharing.
What a professional, thanks for sharing this amazing information ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I got it process of elimination works fine. Thanks.
I believe that I have a smart harness do I have to do anything with my red wire that would’ve connected to my reverse trigger wire, or can I leave it alone
Awesome. I want to do this on my Chevy Silverado 2009. I assume it's a similar if not exact same install? Great video. I'm excited.
whats the length of the rca wire? the wire that came with my kit is 16ft but it doesnt seem like its long enough
What would I need to do if I want to wire the back up camera (or a front camera) to a rocker panel switch??
I"m using the RP5-GM31 interface with a Pioneer radio. Can I connect the red wire directly to the purple/white reverse trigger coming from the Pioneer or do I connect to the PAC interface?
I got a back up camera for tailgate and
Where I wire purple trigger wire?
What wire is the ground I have two black wires on my reverse bulb the middle one???
I installed this exact stereo and backup camera and now my truck died I’m assuming from a draw on the power when the truck was turned off. Any idea why?
So I have my ground and my power wired to the reverse but I’m having interference with the signal. I contacted the head unit company and they said I have a canbus and to wire the power directly to the trigger wire. But my ground is still at the reverse light, should I find a different ground?
is it possible to run the stock rear view cam on this stereo on a 07 suburban ltz ?
I have a chevy tahoe 2007 I want to install a navigation sistem stereo and back up camera..can u give it to me a price to instal
How long was your video cable?
how i know if this harness fits my car i have 2010 silverado 1500 ,, but aftermarket kenwood radio ? with 8 pins ,,,
Hello, I wanted to ask a question because I am already desperate, I bought a tailgate camera for my 2007 silverado, I connect it to the radio and it tells me that there is no signal, I don't know what to do or if it is some problem with the settings on the radio...thank you
I wired mine like yours and the lights on it dont work and the picture is really blurry?
When you put the ground to your tail light can’t I just run my ground to any ground at the back of the truck because I have aftermarket tail lights on my truck and don’t feel like tapping into them they were a paint in the ass to get in??
How do I Hook up the factory camera
Need to show how you ran the wire from back to front is there a hole or wire harness in the truck that runs out of the cab you used?
czcams.com/video/nchvTKKen5U/video.html
Not sure if anyone still monitors this but did you do any extra waterproofing on pulling the wire through that grommet on the floor? Seems like that is introducing a perfect leak situation and I'd like to know how to make sure it's watertight.
Moldable silicone puddy is what we use to help seal around wiring.
When I wired the radio the first time, I connected the red acc 12v wires from the smart harness to the radio. Can I just use a t tap to connect the camera video wire right into those?
Yep, but depends on how many amps are put out on the accessory wire by the smart harness.
Do you know a good route for the wire on a Tahoe? The plate is on the rear hatch, so it has to come down from the top.
Here is an old crappy video, but nonetheless, some pointers: czcams.com/video/DjTXswCyN5A/video.html
I have that smart harness, but my backup camera has a purple wire. Do I need to tap into that wire or leave it along because it’s connected to the smart harness?
Did u figure it out
Great video. The camera went black a week later. Reverse still activates the camera but the screen is black. Any ideas how to trouble shooting this?
Sounds like an issue with the camera power / ground or the camera itself went bad.
Do you know why I get a black screen instead of live video?
I have a very similar camara by Atokit, it has white leds instead of red, and a AVH-X1500DVD Pioneer stereo. I have it on my 2007 Silverado new body style. I connected the wire like you did but no luck.
I just did mine and it was really easy. I didn't wire it like he did but instead wired it up to the driver side taillight. U just tap into the wires for the reverse light which green is positive and black is negative (their grounded inline so there is 2 black wires go with the middle one.) Then I didn't bother with the power wire coming off the signal connection. Doing it the way I did just gives power to the back up camera when the truck is in reverse but will work fine.
Turn your rear view off
I am trying to wire my camera (Esky) to work with reverse and be able to switch on the pioneer screen (AVH-270BT). The Pioneer has the manual control and the purple switch wire. The only way I can think of to make this work is to use a remote switch parallel to the reverse trigger wire. Any better ideas?
Power the camera off of accessory. You can do that using the little red wire off of the RCA video cable. Connect that to accessory at the radio. Your smart harness should be providing the trigger wire. We wired it just like that in our install in the video.
@@ProvoBeastAudio Thank you for the response. I installed the stereo last night without the camera because the cable was too short for my suburban. The vehicle battery was very low this morning barely started and the pioneer would not turn off even with key out of the ignition and kept rebooting every few minutes. I see that you work on a lot of this era GM vehicles and pioneer units, have you ever experienced anything like this? Thanks again. Now I have to figure out why the BCM is not communicating and allowing the truck to start. BTW do you know Matt Wetzel? 😁
I have a 2009 GMC Arcadia and it had a backup camera and the cables are inside my car and I brought a new one
But I think I messed up the new backup camera cables going to the old one
Can you tell me which one of the three wires is the power on the reverse light. Green, Black or Black. I have the same vehicle.
Did you ever figure it out? I just installed mine using the black wire that was furthest from the green wire and it is not working. I suspect I used the wrong the black wire.
My wire harness has everything but that purple and white wire ... what should I do ??
Check with the radio manufacture to see what wire is the reverse trigger.
What’s the model of the radio I’m looking into doing this to my 2011 Silverado

The pioneer microbypass part link to Amazon doesn't work. Can you send me a new one? I intend to follow your instructions to a T.
here you go: ebay.us/RVf61w
That little red wire confused me.. I don’t have a reverse trigger.
do you have to wire the cam to the reverse light power and battery power
im trying to figure that out too. i think its powered from both
this video explains it a little better.
czcams.com/video/rHORKUqlEM4/video.html
do you have to ground the wire to the reverse taillight ground or can you just ground it anywhere?
You can really ground it anywhere, so if there is one at a more convenient location for you, go for it.
What stereo is this ? Factory aftermarket

I don’t understand, how does the camera know when you go into reverse?
Your reverse lights go on
@@Isidro27 thank you, I have since figured this out and it works perfectly
So the purple reverse wire doesn’t need to be connected to anything with the interface box?
It does, it needs to be connected to the reverse trigger wiring on the wiring harness adapter.
Provo Beast Audio Installation ok well mine doesn’t have the steering wheel controls or a factory back up camera.and I’m trying to find a back up lamp power source somewhere closer to the deck than the tail lamp area.
@@rightsidelanechoice7702 did u figure it out
Grow House Records yah I got it thanks!
My guidelines don’t move when i turn the wheel , help ?
Sounds like you need a different camera. You would needed one with "dynamic moving guidelines" as a feature
@@ProvoBeastAudio thank you
Where is the CD/radio player? Or you just lose those items.
I have the same unit. CD player is on the top slit. Eject button to the left of it. Fm am radio is touch screen on the unit
I like how they don’t show the hole they used for the wire… secrets lol
What hole?
