    Hey Joel, people can use the new Linvala from ZNR as a budget Selfless Spirit too!

      Yeah, I missed that!! I love the extra synergy of Selfless being a spirit though

      Dude, thanks for this suggestion. Linvala was is $1 for the extended art version vs. $10 that I could find for an English version of Selfless Spirit. I'll save $9 for the loss of immersion.

    In playtesting Ranar, there aren't nearly enough foretell cards to consistently make him useful. I would add to the deck almost every foretell card printed in Kaldheim in b/w (there's only like 5-6 you would add) to make sure you're getting Ranar's trigger. Even the 4 cost 3/3 bird card with foretell is pretty horrible in other decks, but with Ranar it's a 2 cost 3/3 bird that also makes a 1/1 spirit. That's very good. I think Ranar is very easy to lose focus of and try to do too much between foretell, flying tribal and blink. I find that people lean *too* much into the blink part especially.

    I actually want to make an Angel/Spirit deck out of Ranar, and call it Vinland Saga, named after the famed manga involving vikings and religions. XD

    Is it too soon to suggest switching out Entreat the angels with the New Starnheim unleashed? I get it’s arguably worse than Entreat because of the miracle clause but I mean, foretelling, you know?

    • @TheComicBookJoker
      @TheComicBookJoker Před 3 lety

      I personally agree with this switch. Entreat The Angels has the higher ceiling, but Starnheim Unleashed also plays better with Ranar and doesn’t punish you for not casting it within a narrow window to get its alternate cost.

    I find it highly ironic how that new Uncommon land that’s U/W is better than every other lands in the precons. Like Christ, what’s it gonna take to just put the bond lands in the decks? Check lands? Anything that isn’t a shitty gain land.

    I personally think that the spirit Lord effect isn't the way to go. A flying Lord would be a much better fit. There doesn't seem to be as much tribal synergy in the deck as there is flying. Even the upgrades has us making Angels.

    This might be a stupid question, but I’m fairly new at magic. Does exile count as death? For example with solemn siliacrums ability will that trigger twice if I exiled him and brought him back to the battlefield from exile?

  • @clanechelon
    @clanechelon Před 3 lety +1

    I will have to see this deck in action, but my first impression is that this deck is quite weak... and I am a casual player. I just don't see how you can win with this deck. Ranar doesn't create that many 1/1 to swarm the table. I guess in a meta where combat is secondary, this deck could surprise, but in casual meta (or at least in mine) big meanie tramplers are legion. I don't see this deck holding the line very long. Maybe there is something I am missing?

    • @samuelvalcourt6834

      This deck is just made for infinite combo like any blink deck and with the commander it just go wide on token. Just add in felidar guardian with blasting station, you will ping all your opp to zero. Go check the nitpicking nerds video , maybe you'll change your mind. Great video again btw !

    • @clanechelon
      @clanechelon Před 3 lety

      @@samuelvalcourt6834 fair point, though felidar combos easily in any blink deck. Azorius is not great for creature tutoring either. Outside of combo, I dont see how you plan on going wide? Unless I am misundertanding Ranar, it seems he would generate only 1 spirit even if you blink your entire board with a brago like effect. If this is the case, how many 1/1 can yoy realistically create? You would need to lean heavily into emblems to keep them around long enough or go full on control?
      Again, I might be biased. My meta is dominated by Edgar Markov, Gishath. Tana/Bruse and Imoti. These decks seems way faster at swarming the table and some with beefy tramplers.

      @dariocampanella7992 Před 3 lety

      @@clanechelon two considerations: is this a deck you WANT to play? i personally like the idea of blinking staff and do combotastic stuff and having a payoff
      also consider simply that the deck has a very good commander substitution king drago the eternal. if you dont care about flying spirits you can just lean on that.
      competing with the other decks it is something that you can adjust. blue and white have good removals and staxing (but you dont have to make it a full stax just add some stuff like aven censor and you already limiting option if your group goes tutor too much)
      my personal thoughts here. feel free to disgree.

      White is very good removing big creatures, you would be playing many instances for Ranar to create tokens, free bodies with a lot of synergy.
