    I have to replace my GPU fan in a M17R4 tomorrow. After I got to the point where I realized I had to remove the System Board, I decided to do a search to see if there was a video. THANK YOU. It's really nice to see it done by someone a head of time.

    I took apart my M15 R3 to install an SSD earlier this week. Screws more or less did the same thing. Some came out fully and some did not. Just ordered the M17R3 for the 4k screen and numerical keypad. Was seeing what was up with the extra storage spaces. Thanks for the video even if it doesnt cover what I am looking for.

      Your title is misleading. I read "SSD Hard Drive Upgrade". One could argue its "upgrade battery", but regardless it is not accurate.

      I put the word hard drive in there because a lot of uneducated people think the SSD is the hard drive, just like how people call all tablets iPads. It's not meant to be misleading, it's meant to help people that don't know what they're looking at find my videos. The title only allows for 100 characters, so I can't fit an explanation.

      You can use any tape. Packaging tape works just fine.

    Think I can clean the fans just removing the bottom panel and blowing air in through the back led panel? Maybe removing that led panel as well? Unbelievable to tear a computer down this much to clean some fans..

      @@ItsBinhRepaired roughly.. took the back off today to clean it with air and noticed it was more difficult to spin than the other side. Looking at the laptop it is the one on the right. I thoroughly cleaned it today, and it was working fine until i turned one dota 2 for a game. Ran max blast for abot 5 minutes, then this right side fan froze up and refused to spin, makes a shuttering noise every 10 seconds like its trying to spin but cant. I will disassemble the back again now and hope its a clog of dust but it was already cleaned well.. FUCK

      Should be ok, but you might want to monitor temperatures. If it hits 100c it can cause permanent damage.

The CPU always hits 100C anytime I game but for a short durations and goes down to 95C, but the GPU it’s highest so far is 82C (without the fan) and I see a huge performance dip, and I quit the game, but with light work loads and browsing, the max is 65C (without the fan)

      If you don't know which one is the video cable, that means you lack important experience and should watch the video from start to finish. If you go straight to the screen cable, you'll likely fry your motherboard.

    Thanks for the video. Managed to get mine apart and cleaned out... however it still grinds and I noticed that fan (CPU side) was loose compared to the other so looks like I need to replace the fan with motor. What is the name of the adhesive tape used to help keep the fan sealed up?

      @@ItsBinhRepaired As far as I can tell, the only adhesive on the fan. The same adhesive you originally peeled off of the fan casing when you thought you could access the fan without pulling the mb.

I was able to replace the fan today with a new one and reused the adhesive tape but it's not sticking very well and was hoping to buy some to get a fresh seal at those seams but not sure what to look for since I'm not familiar with the nomenclature.

      It'll reset the bios, but not remove passwords. You can try disconnecting the battery.

      @@ItsBinhRepaired Thank you for the reply. I'm not seeing the CMOS battery anywhere. I've been scrolling through the video and watched the whole thing but never really saw the CMOS battery. Can't find anything online about it's location either. My laptop has been getting stuck on restart. It only comes into Windows after a long rest and cold CPU.

In the video you didn't do the other side to keep the seals down, any tips for when I take that part aside? is there any kind of tape or adhesive I should buy before getting to that side?

      @@TRIGGAMAN_LOCO what tape/seals? Not sure what you're referring to. I found a way to remove the fan without the tool. You want to push from the center where the magnet ring is. That central part of the propellers is much more solid.

      @@TRIGGAMAN_LOCO oh, you mean over the heatsink to the fan? You can use any tape. Electrical tape gets gooey, so I wouldn't use that though

      Not sure. Voltage needs to be the same, amperage needs to be the same or higher, and the inner and outer diameter of the plug needs to be the same.

      If you're talking about the internal charge port, then you'll want to make sure the connector and cable length is the same.

      If you watch the whole video you'll see. The problem is the fan isn't working properly, bad grease. Watch the video. I show what's wrong with it and how to fix it. I don't know why people ask me questions that are answered by the video.

      My gpu fan just stopped responding to the AWCC and i am not able to control it

      Well, if you can't sit through the video, chances are, you won't be able to fix it, because it'll take longer for you to follow along and repair it yourself. Time to send it to a technician. Haha If it helps, you could speed it up to 2x speed.

      Less than 6 minutes in and the battery connector was disconnected... that's starting with all the screws in and never working on this model before. Meanwhile, you're here because you couldn't figure it out yourself. You can kindly go f yourself...
      Go watch the useless videos where they cut everything out and show the the cover magically removed and the battery disconnected. Good luck with that.
