      to be fair it wasn’t like the team they beat was overmatched at all. houston had the AL cy young winner (verlander) and the runner-up (cole) as well as greinke 1-2-3. washington had to beat an insane 1-2-3 punch in houston in order to win it all in 2019.

    Brownie recipe ingredients: 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
    2 cups granulated sugar
    4 large eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
    Method:
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
    In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Stir in sugar until well combined.
    Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
    In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
    If desired, fold in chocolate chips.
    Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
    Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.

    The thing that Max was best at throughout his peak was fooling batters. I know that's a "duh" thing to say, but *most* dominant pitchers rely on power and just flat out throwing the ball by you. theres nothing special about deferred contract payments

  • @dentonyoung4314

    I can think of one contract that was just as good, actually. Barry Zito signing with the Giants. Zito being the Designated Ace(TM) meant that all their young pitchers -- Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum, Jonathan Sanchez, and some kid named Bumgarner they brought up in 2010 -- could develop in peace without being rushed in too quickly and suffering David Clyde syndrome. Zito absorbed all the criticism from the media (I would know, I lived in the San Francisco area at the time) so that when Matt Cain had an 0-5 month, no one would bring it up and Cain could work through things in peace. And Zito was an essential part of the 2010 and 2012 World Series-winning Giants teams.

      @jodi183 Před 7 měsíci +2

      Zito was not on the 26 man roster for the 2010 postseason. Bochy made the decision to cut him from that PS roster because of his poor performance that season. Cain had no run support, so a lot of his great outings were skewed by losses because the Giants’ hitters were shut out.

      @dentonyoung4314 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@jodi183 Zito pitched well enough that he should have had 18 wins that year. Bochy left him off the roster (after without his help they don't make the playoffs) because he needed more offense. Bochy himself freely admitted that it was a difficult call, because Zito had been brilliant.
      Remember, I lived in the area during that time. I know all the details.

      @@dentonyoung4314. Are you seriously arguing Zito was as good as Scherzer ? One of your points is to say he pitched well enough that he should have been on the 2010 post season roster. If he was near as good as Max there wouldn’t even have been a decision to make.
      No manager who knows what he is doing will leave top notch pitching off the roster for a bat off the bench

      @@MikeHart72 Obviously Zito wasn't as good as Scherzer, very few pitchers are.
      His contract also wasn't nearly as big as Scherzer's. It was big enough for everyone to rip into it... until after SF started winning titles. Then suddenly you didn't hear a word about Zito's contract.
      By the time the playoffs came around that year, the Giants were all-pitch, zero-hit. They needed every bat they could find.
      September 1: won 2-1.
