It would be great if their website would tell the consumer the difference between their Blaze product and Pro Blaze. A simple comparison, or explanation of the two lines would be of tremendous help. If they are going to come out with a new product explain to us why it's better and how it's different. Their marketing department needs help.
I love your SW Motech videos - they're so useful 👌
Thank you, glad to be of help👍😜
Great product with some nice work arounds. Never fancied putting on a permanent set as I'd only need them a couple of times a year, but these are cracking 👍🏼
These are definitely the way to go for the sportier bikes among us🤷♂️
Removable support arms. Genius! Stop the flapping I imagine. Not fancy a ride in the snow then😁
Nice one & agree with you. The less obtrusive option on sports &/or naked bikes. Thanks for the info a laughs. Hope things are improving on your side of the world. Cheers from down under. 👍🏍🇦🇺
Good review, thank you for uploading 👍
Nice montage! Well done! I have the tank bag from SW. Very good product!!
I've been a proper fan of their products for many years!
They look really good and a great addition to the R😎👍
Appreciate that not all countries are as rainy as Blighty or Germany, but I still don't understand why motorcycle luggage isn't just waterproof from the off. No silly overbags or inner liners.
Think its difficult to make this sort of luggage waterproof. If you want full waterproof from the off, then full dry bags are available, they're just not as nice to look at! I've been using their soft luggage for years and have never had an issue. Once the inner dry bags are inserted, it makes little difference to all daily business.
Love the bloopers at the end pal. Good video too.
Thanks Robert👍😜
Looks a very neat fitment and subtle. Wish I had checked the exhaust angle before I melted underside of my Shad panniers, all sorted with some heat shield stuff.
Yeah it's something that needs an extra thought with regards to exhausts.
@@thelikeablerider8800 Absolutely... In my defense, they had worked fine for months but in my giddy excitement about a decent tour I maybe didn't check the mounting properly that morning.
Like the look of those , simplicity is good especially in my case 🤪
I'm a big fan of the Blaze panniers. Got them on both the wife's Street Triple and my MT10. Only downside is they get plastered with road crap on a wet tour, then you have to carry them into a nice clean hotel room.
Yeah there is that! Tbh though my KTM chucks up so much crap, I'd rather it go all over my luggage than up the back of my neck😝
@@thelikeablerider8800 Ha ha yes, same with our bikes.
I had to laugh really hard at the bloopers in the end 😂 Almost had to change my underwear 🤣
Sorry about the potential trouser accidents it may have caused!😜
is it confy for the passenger? now with the added material on the seat?
Hi Shaun, if you dropped your bike would the bars bend or the plastic connector snap off? Not saying you drop your beautiful ride but I do stupid things and need a saddlebags system for my v-strom.
I'm sure they are not load barering, so I'd be fairly confident that they would brake, in the event of a whoopsie!
👍love the bloopers
Hi Shaun great review many thanks. I can't work out though what you need to mount and to where for the support arms that the bags slip on to. SW Motech vid offers no clarity. Thanks in advance 👍
Yes the mounting brackets are a funny shape, but attach to the bike behind the passenger foot pegs. If you have Facebook or Instagram, I can send you some more detailed pictures?
Thanks Shaun, I'm a SW-Motech fan as have their cool Seat Rake on my 790 Duke plus the KTM rear bag (made by SW-Motech).
Their gear is first class isn't it? I was using their gear long before we started working together, so not just saying it👍😜
@@thelikeablerider8800 My Brother bought the same bags you run on the SDR for his Speed Triple 1050 RS after I suggested watching your review.
Then we must be doing something right, thank you for sharing👍😜
@@thelikeablerider8800 Sure are! You and that Randy Fan Cam guy are my fav's plus my M8 Campbell Zero One with his 790 Moose comments on every vid I post.
Morning - can you give an opinion on the Blaze Pro sw motech saddle bags - looking at ordering for my new Moto 2 Street triple rs (limited addition) qhen it arrives - looking for some good sport luggage for Pyrenees trip later this year & wondered about reviews etc cheers
It's a great option for naked bikes, and looks stylish! You can get enough in them for a decent trip, just be sure to waterproof your gear with inner dry bags, as they will let the water in, in heavier downpours👍
Hay Shaun, do you have to have the rear foot pegs attached? Also whats the seat you’ve got on your bike and where did you take the power from for your satnav?
I'd imagine you could install them without the foot pegs, but the provided bolts would then be the wrong length! If you bought shorter bolts then it'll work for sure. The seat is also from SWMOTECH, they have a custom seat department which is also on their website. The auxiliary power leads for the satnav are under the front left fairing, or there's another set under the seat on the SDR!
I have the normal Blaze bags on my Tracer 900 and looks great, good quality bags 👌
Only slight changes in styling and how they expand on the new Pro bags, I'm very impressed with them.
@@thelikeablerider8800 yes they look very similar, they are perfect and just the right size to travel with
Ive got the ordinary Blaze ones on my GT, and they are excellent and well made !. Did they affect the handling when riding in the snow at all..😆
No idea! At minus 15 I swiftly took my delicate self back indoors😂
Why you switched from slc urban abs to this? Any better?
They sent me them to test, and I was just show casing them to you.
TLR, what's the difference between the standard and the Pro apart from the webbing? Very hard to tell from the SW Motech site
Mounting is remains the same, the Pro range has had the fresh new design, which matches the Pro tank and rear bags.
@@thelikeablerider8800 Thanks TLR
I think they look better with the bags off make the look of the bike nicer imo . Do you think that will flap at speed with that rear seat strap ? . Stay safe ride safe ( if you can get out ) 👍
Thanks Dale
No once they're loaded then they are nice and sturdy👍😜
Would a 15" laptop fit in this?
These look great 👍. Don't think they'll work with the 790 exhaust though 🤔
The 790 will always have issues with attaching luggage, due to that high exhaust🤦♂️
Got them for my 2015, awesome, and when off, barely tell there’s anything on the bike.
They're great aren't they👍😜
These look amazing I might have to test a set... might be getting a BMW to try them on 😁
These are definitely the way to go for this bike, what Beemer you got coming m8?
Let's hope its something classy like the R1250R, now that's a bike I'd buy👍😜
Knowing chopsie he'll be on the double R
A mate uses them on his s1000r they areva tidy bit of kit
Whats about the indicators? They are not very visible anymore. Can you reposition the bags or do i have to chance my license plate holder? My looks very similator to your. I dont want the big fat ugly factory thing :D
With the stock number plate holder the indicators are visible from the side, but not with a shorter tail tidy. SWMOTECH products are design around stock bikes so it's at your own discretion if you ist aftermarket parts👍
Do these damage your paint? where they make contact with the overlapping part
No but they do provide an amount of clear vinyl to stick on any painted areas, should you want to be extra careful with protecting the paint.
@@thelikeablerider8800 Thanks man, great video too.
Great idea but lost my purchase with them not being waterproof
I’ll stick with my Kriega system as always good video though Shaun 👍🏼
Each to their own m8, each to their own👍😜
what is the difference between this Pro series Blaze and Previous version of Blaze ?
New look for 2020, slightly more sturdy construction but mount in the same way. They also have the Molle patch on the front, like on all the new Pro luggage for this year, so you can mount smaller accessorie bags to the outside.
@@thelikeablerider8800 thank you..
You're welcome👍😜
350 euros though to put your trainers in a bag. i reckon divers bags or boat bags will work for cheap. i made a camping set up for my road cycle using itiwit boat bags from decathlon. all you really need is a rack to the main one on and you can strap the rest to that. think i spent about 50 quid in total.
What would you pick up first if you were travelling.....Pro Blaze or the Cargo bag?
Good question as they're both great! I would probably go for the Cargo to answer your question. Although I'm off for a couple of days from tomorrow, and I've gone with the Blaze combined with the Rearbag. Suppose it depends on what you want to take. The cargo is great if you're just taking clothes, but I'm taking a lot of camera gear, tripods etc and that sort of gear fits better into the bags with a more rigid shape.
@@thelikeablerider8800 And a good answer!! I'm hopefully doing Scotland late May early June and i've been pondering over both combinations so i'll be probably taking more clothes especially with the climate Scotland throws at you. Thank you Shaun for taking your time to answer all the questions we throw at you.
Stay safe.
I shall be doing a live video on Thursday evening at 8 o'clock with SWMOTECH (on their channel) to show case pretty much all the luggage that they sell. They'll be a live chat running on the stream so we can answer any questions you might have.
czcams.com/video/_DPyrzLMdOU/video.html
Nice the only problem I see is safety due to blinkers are quite hidden from sight of other drivers or riders who are 3/4 or alongside you. But it´s self risk anyway.
With the standard number plate holder the blinkers would be visible, I had a Tail Tidy installed in this video which makes them harder to So from the side👍
I'm guessing the wrap over strap won't fit under the pillion seat?
No definitely not!
@@thelikeablerider8800 shame. I used a similar Oxford setup round Europe last year, the shonky Suzuki panel gaps meant I could get them under the seat. I'll probably get the other SW set with the scaffolding.
The double straps would be too thick to get under the seat! The Aero ABS is also a great system, let me know how you find them👍😜
@@thelikeablerider8800 will do. I've already got a tank bag which is 👌👌.
Then you'll have a great setup👍
I did think he's never going out in the snow. Is he ?
Hope you get this message. Wondering if you are frequently using these saddlebags. Would love a quick review. I don't need a video, a quick reply to my posting should work. Basically wanting to know which model you are using the Blaze or Blaze Pro (why?). You use them frequently? Have they been reliable? Are they waterproof with the inner bag? Would you recommend them of a bloke riding a 2021 BMW S1000RR? Not sure if there is a way to reach you privately via email, pm, smoke signals or some other way. This conversation might take a few back and forth iterations.
Hi
These are the Pro Blaze saddle bags, just a different optical design to the previous model. Yes I've used them a few times and they work well, and would look great on your bike. Yes they are waterproof with inner dry bags which they have also improved, although for extra peace of mind I used my own dry bags from Ortlieb.
@@thelikeablerider8800 Thanks for the information. Safe riding.
Can this fit in xr1000
Have a look on their website and see if its available🤷♂️
Now then. Do them do them for the Tuono hmmmmmm. Cheers Shaun they do look good
Happy shopping my friend👍😜
@@thelikeablerider8800 SW Motech says NO! :(
Bugger! Time to change the bike?😜
There is a way to make them work! There are a few forum posts on ways to use the kit for a S1000RR, street triple, or GSXR 750. Have a quick google search for instructions.
@@bbbb1989ful Thanks for the info. I go take a look :)
Good review however 350€ plus shipping and don’t forget import duty post brexit. On this basis I’ll leave them in Germany and buy British when the summer comes saving a few quid.
Yeah the Brexit import duty is now a real pi@#er!
My missus says nice package...😳👍🇬🇧😎
Thanks for posting. Just when I thought I was done spending money. Argh!
Does it ever end?😝
Can this bag carry a helmet?
Haven't tried myself, but think it would be a bit of a squeeze!
Shaun you will be like woman soon, it will take you that long to get ready because you won’t know which bag to take 😂
That is quite possible, but every woman has their favourite handbag😜
Those padlocks are for a little girl's diary not for securing any luggage
Its just to prevent a quick steal! If someone really wants to take your stuff, then they will! regardless if its soft are hard luggage!
Shame they appear to make the pillion seat unusable.
Haven't tried it but I would say it's still usable! They've even changed the material on the strap, to a more non slip material to better accommodate for that.
