Bucky is the obvious choice for Captain America. Falcon is the Falcon who’s power set doesn’t fit with the shield. So of course in 2023 Disney went with the worse choice.
Exactly
Nah bucky is a killer an assassin not a good fit for Captain America, the falcon has been CA sidekick for awhile and his character outlook fits better for CA.
MCU Stans: "Screw John Walker! Only Steve Rogers can be Captain America!"
Also MCU Stans: "Of course Sam Wilson can be Black Captain America!"
MCU Stans Again: "Sam and Bucky should bang!"
@@00dev Actually, being a Killer assassin makes him a perfect fit for a modern day agent representing America.
Neither one should. Captain America is Steve Rogers. Falcon is falcon and winter soldier is winter soldier. They have their own identity and shouldn't take anyone's sloppy seconds.
Nobody wants a Captain America movie where Steve Rogers isn't Captain America. Sam Wilson is Falcon & that's all he should be.
Felt the same way...Bucky as Cap...followed Brubaker's run...and it just was a more natural fit.
Amen to that.
lET'S BE STRAIGHT UP.......BUCK IS WHITE........THEY WANTED CAP TO BE BLACK!
Yeah but bucky is the wrong skin color for this.
Brubaker's run is great.
That's a wild take ..when you think about a captain the brain washed assassin is the better pick than the guy that runs therapy sessions for vets while still saving the world....ok lol
I agree about Bucky being Capt. American. Sam was a great character, but he DIDN'T have the super serum, Bucky did. Just having a shield doesn't give you the strength to throw it. It was a nice moment in End Game when Steve gave him the shield, but it still should have been Bucky. Sam could have still been the Falcon and teamed up with Bucky to help get him out from under the stigma of being the Winter Soldier until he was accepted as Capt. America.
The Bucky Cap comics were so well written and really resonated because of their long history and Bucky's redemption. Was a tense adventure also the search for the next Cap was interesting, Bucky taking the mantle was so cool, being once his teen sidekick in WW II...another missed opportunity.
Yes! I so agree.
@@snarkyjay It really meant something to have Bucky return, redeem himself, suffer his former best friend/mentor's death and THEN take his good friends legendary mantle, very emotionally potent moment too for comic book fans!
Dang. I remember vehemently following that story arc. Loved the Alex Ross Bucky Cap costume design!
Captain America is Steve Rogers. If he dies, Captain America dies too. Simple and plain
Marvel had over a decade of quality movies. Not to mention the wonderful preamble that was Blade and Blade II. Then they decided to turn Marvel into a Disney Princess girl brand and went downhill. Very sad.
Eh ... Marvel put out a lot of crap during that decade too. We just flocked to the theaters to watch it anyway. Iron Man 3? UGH. Thor: The Dark World? Vomit.
Sound like mcu fans love to be blind huh? Looks like DC fans are much more sane when they boycott DC movie
@@dashx1103 I disagree about "Iron Man 3", but "Dark World" was just boring. Everything in the first three phases wasn't brilliant, but most of them were excellent, and several of them were awesome.
@@ConceptJunkie Agree to disagree. Respectfully.

@@JohnShowalter1 Thanks!
yes. DC's animated shows and movies are off the hook but they never get any attention for some reason. @@garypoisson2733
It makes zero sense in having Falcon become Captain America, he has no super powers and just holding a shield isn't going to cut it.
Maybe this is just another example of diversity quota.
Enjoyed the video and enjoyed that blue top, Snarky Jay.
It was a very very nice blue top!!!😉
Anthony Mackie also ruined Altered Carbon on Netflix.
Agreed that Bucky should've been the new Cap, not only because he was Cap before Sam in comics,...and that storyline where he was Cap was outstanding,...but, Bucky is also a man from that World War 2 generation. So, even though he is different, thinks different, reacts different, etc. he still has the mindset, memories, and experience from that World War 2 generation. He's a better choice all around. Sam is a better Falcon,...that's who he is, and that's who he should be.
totally agree. plus, its the best way for bucky to feel like he can be redeemed from his winter soldier past. sam doesnt need to be redeemed.
We need a black Gay man for Captain America
@@breakfast00club..11 Sam Wilson isn't gay.
@@breakfast00club..11 You're hired!
@@dashx1103 oh you think you are better haha 😅😅😅😆😆. U R ..sure why not u R better
I was iffy about Sam being captain America. but when I saw him fight in his cap suit, I thought “he was doing good so far”….. BUT THEN. He had to fucking defend the actions of a terrorist leader….. demanding that the senators stop calling them terrorists when by definition THEY ARE TERRORISTS…. AND THE FACT THEY BLEW UP A FUCKING BUILDING FULL OF PEOPLE. And STILL defends the terrorists right after stopping them from KILLING the senators……. What in the actual FUCK….. he can’t tell the difference between a protester and a FUCKING TERRORIST….. And THAT is why Sam failed miserably at being Captain America….. he failed the shield…..
Every Marvel film so far has gone through a reshoot
Not 3 months of reshoots. That's never happened before. And no MCU film has had to change the release date in order to do reshoots before. The first cut was obviously very shitty.
@@tanvirhasankhan4178the marvels says hi
Sam doesn't have the Super Serum. He would not win fights like Rogers or Bucky could.
Bucky woulda been way better.
Amen to that.
Nope. Thats like saying Thanos could be Cap. Bucky was an assassin everyone knows him as a cold blooded killer ( brain washed or not it doesn't matter ). Not only that, he had a lot on his plate with everything he was going through mentally, The shield would have been a burden to him. Sam does everything like steve plus he doesn't have all the bagage Bucky is carrying. Story telling gotta make sense guys.
falcon being captain america and using the shield is a joke. a normal human being using cap's shield against thanos attack will squash him into tomato juice. wtf disney is thinking?!?! you need super strength to use a vibranium shield!
3 major sequences? Like the begining, middle and the end?😅
I’m new here but your channel already rocks. Thank you for being honest!
I don't care about the MCU anymore. I grew up reading the comics, particularly Hulk, Thor, Defenders. So it was great to see these characters coming to the big screen and doing justice to the comics, which up until then they couldn't do. Defenders was my first big disappointment as for me, the Defenders will always be Dr Strange, Hulk, Namor, Silver Surfer, and Valkyrie.
I was also disappointed with other bits and pieces, but overall, each new movie was a must-see. Sadly, since Disney took over and made everything about identity politics rather than entertainment, most of what they have put out has been garbage. So now I only check out the films when I get to watch them for free and I no longer buy the blu rays when they come out. Even if I do find a film that's passable, I buy it second hand so Disney makes no money from me.
Same with Disney Star Wars.
It seems Disney and many other companies no longer want to make entertainment, they just want to produce propaganda disguised as entertainment to push their agenda. I, for one am sick of it and they won't get another penny from me.
I hope Disney goes bankrupt. Maybe Elon Musk can then buy it and take it back to a time when it was the pinnacle of family entertainment.
Ive got a bad feeling about this...
I never thought I'd see the day the MCU would become the DCEU. However, we got over a decade of great storytelling from Iron Man to Endgame, and I will always hold it close to my heart.
True that!
@@snarkyjay Yeah because of Bob Iger being a jerk to fans since rejecting George Lucas' Mara Jade Skywalker trilogy.
I disagree that mcu got great storytelling. There's a reason why Martin scorcese said marvel is like theme Park. Which means its Just entertained but lack of quality of real film making
You want great storytelling, go watch top 20 Best movie of all time
This is how I see it too. Plenty of old Marvel movies to rewatch and keep me entertained. Including some of the streaming shows.
30k comming soon, congrats. Should be at 100k at this time, hopefully soon. 👍
*Snarky Jay: **_"That's right, the first cuts of CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD were screen recently and apparently that did not go well."_*
And in OTHER breaking news:
*"WATER WET, SKY BLUE, FIRE HOT"*
LMAO
Water is wet, sky blue, fire hot, Mackie black.
They could do a focus group and walk through of the plot and find out the plot sucks. The actual dialog adds to a movie, but most of these movies have fundamental plot issues.
Disney can’t get past their woke agenda in order to make a good movie. Of course Bucky should have been the next Captain America!
As i sat in the theater during Endgame. The moment Cap. handed the shield over to Sam. I knew it was officially over. I just knew it that second
Dude isn't Captain Ameria. He got given a shield, doesn't make him Cap. If someone gave me the Enterprise, doesn't make me Captain Kirk. The show didn't sell it ( and the show's costume SUXXXXXXX) and just slapping a name on it, doesn't make it so. Cap's arc is COMPLEAT. Sam needs his own identity. When will the studios stop thinking they can TRICK folks into showing up by a name check?
Nooo, But the man made you Captin so what you Gunna do about it🤷🏾♂️...
They've been doing a LOT of reshoots for the movies lately. You would think they would have learned their (Very Expensive) lesson by now and do things right the first time...But, like my Dad used to say: "A hard head makes for a soft A&%."
I gotta steal that saying.
The reason why they reshoots because studios never cares about quality movie in the first place. Remember this, every movie Will have script inspected and checked so after that they will greenlit. If they greenlit after done all that, its means the script always been bad and studios should be blame to greenlighting that script.
There's a reason why great director refuse to do reshoots. Because they knew their script already match what their vision is. There's 2 type of movies
1) director driven movies
2) studios driven movies
Disney has been known to do reshoots based on audiences reception, WB started to learned this from Disney since 2016 although WB is known as director driven studios. Because of this, many WB director left this studios since then i ckuding Christopher Nolan
there was a deleted airport scene in civil war that you can find on youtube. where captain america while fighting passes the shield towards the falcon and in return the falcon throws the shield to bucky doing a combo. they were clearly setting up something. or atleast the russos were.
You’re not wrong; we knew it was going to happen. I thought it was pretty funny when I heard the first screening was a failure. Happy Monday my friend!
You too Kaden!
I agree it would have been an interesting choice to have Bucky officially take up the shield. However, as soon as Isaiah Bradley was confirmed for the show you just knew who it should be and why.
heres the other issue with Sam being Cap that i have a problem with: I am really hope Snarky sees this because i would love to discuss: Sam doesnt have the super solider serum. Its doesnt matter how many training montages you include, without the serum, youre just a dude with a frisbee. Even bucky has a version of the serum.
Oh no 😥
Right? Sad!
Team Bucky @@snarkyjay
Thank you for another great video because your wisdom is most respected and I enjoy your intakes on all movies.
Happy Thanksgiving Week Always Beautiful Jay!!!
very good analysis young lady. I enjoyed the input, and as you suggested I will keep an open mind
They made falcon captain america because of the DEI requirements. Bucky being captain America would have been epic in an R rated film.
Disney won't do rated R movie, the only reason they promise deadpool 3 to be rated R because its under 20th century
They no longer use the source material for inspiration, they can no longer see it because they've been using it to wipe their asses with...
4:00 I mean that made perfect sense: Sam Wilson is a regular human with an established superhero persona that compensates for his lack of powers and allows him to cotribute to a team fight in a unique way. Bucky Barnes is a super soldier who has no superhero persona and can really use an opportunity to do some good after all the atrocities he was forced to commit as the Winter Soldier. Not to mention that the drama and conflicts write themselves with this setup.
Whoever's decision it was to put message over quality story content and give the shield to Falcon probably just lost Disney a 3 billions dollar trilogy... this crap will sink into nothing within a year
Falcon is just a dude with a suit and no super powers. He takes the "super" out of super hero. What's next Disney? You going to grab my fat 50 year old mechanic, stick him in a suit and have him star in you next "super" hero movie?
I wanted to see Bucky as Captain America too, because they were best friends so he would trust him the most, but Disney wanted a black guy to be Captain America
Happy Monday Jay!!
You too, Alfred!
most underrated channel
Thanks so much!
When Bucky was Captain America the stories were so good they extended the story long past the time they originally intended. When Sam Wilson was Captain America I was like, "Why did you change the Falcon?" he was fine the way he was. If you want to give the Falcon more of the spotlight, then do that. Cap fans love Sam in the comics and the MCU. Just keep him the Falcon.
An original black character that fans loved. They did a great job updating him for the MCU. And then clowned him by making him cap with no powers
Falcon has such a blah and boring back story. Winter Soldier becoming the next Cap would had been so much better and interesting.
Agreed.
What I love about snarky jay lol, her thumbnails aren't click bait 😂 🫠🥵 (watering mouth emoji)
3 months? That's like shooting 1/2 a movie, not only '3 major scenes'. Must be up to 100 million in re-shoots and re-writing.
Anthony Mackie is gonna closer to 50 when the next avengers comes out.
Wow, really?
Thank you
Winter Soldier would have been the best option🙌🙌🙌🔥
No one is checking for Anthony Mackie. He’s an ok actor. Not an actor to build a franchise movie around
What worse is that this director doesn’t seem to be known for making good movies 😂 But in the woke era, the most important qualification for a director is having the same skin colour and gender as the main character….I guess that’s the only thing that matters now over at Disney, and the ship will only sink faster if they remain on this path.
great channel snarky, i like the real comic references
Happy Thanksgiving Snarky
What type of camera do you use for your videos?!?
nah i feel you, i've been saying for years that they should have made bucky the new cap, i like falcon but never thought he made a good cap in the comics, so when i saw him become the new cap in the mcu i was iffy bout it. Maybe the delay and re-shoots works out for everyone but its hard to say with disney/marvels recent track record. however they've made good movies before so we cant just put it past em. just wont be there first week to see it lol
Good vid as always, Snarky.
That entire Brubaker Cap run in incredible.
Your are 100% correct Bucky Cap was my favorite because it look like Captain Puerto Rico…. but let’s be fair Bucky cap will never happen because he is white… in Disney diversity comes first… Just be thankful Disney don’t run an airline…. imagine having a diverse pilot instead of the best possible.
Becky should've been the next Cap. Perfect redemption arc. But nope.
Falcon as Cap just feels off. A forced decision by someone who thought they knew better than the comics. Bucky was the one that made sense. Sam doesn't. He is his own hero, he is Falcon. Also, the writing for that Netflix series was utter trash.
Sam Wilson is/was the Falcon and he did great at it. Bucky got redeemed and tried that whole retirement thing in Wakanda and it didn't work out. He may be a dark Captain America, but he worked to do the role and Rogers justice.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was far too preachy for my taste, and even though it's kind of following the comic books I do not like him as Captain America..... So I have absolutely no interest in seeing Captain America: New World Order. The more Marvel movies that I skip the more Marvel movies I'm going to continue to skip because I'm going to feel lost since I know how much they rely on serialization instead of self-contained stories.
Skipping over Bucky to be Cap just screams political influence. The story if far more interesting with Bucky as Cap, as unlike Rogers, he has a dark past and is perhaps more meta to the state of the country than people would like to believe. They tried to force that with Sam's character by making him Captain Social Justice(point out America's problems), but it doesn't work, because it went from the ultimate GI Joe, directly to The ultimate US apologist. It makes more sense for Sam to get it from Bucky in a sort of "let's have a less troubled hero" arc.
They tried that with US Agent, but that was so fast, it barely meant anything.
That’s actually really good analysis.
@@snarkyjay Glad you enjoyed Snarky! Great video!
Captain America becomes Blacktain America...??
Bucky as Captain America is a pretty big redemption arc and I would have loved to see it as well.
I’m gonna shoot my shot: Jay, do you need any voiceover work in any future projects you have ahead? Thanks! 😊
They should reshoot every scene that had falcon as captain america
Let's not forget that the writers went on strike so that they could get paid more money to write garbage.
Snarky, no one should have that shield but Steve...no Sam and no Bucky 🫣...but love your take 😁
Or John Walker. I agree. But, you know, I don't really take issue with Sam having it for a time.
@@amitypredator9385 I know it's what they do in comics but I always hated it. It's like having 3 different Batmans or 2 different spidermans. I think it waters down the original hero...but I might be in the minority 🥺
I wholeheartedly agree with you Buckey should have been cap! So pissed off when Buckey didn’t get he shield!
Thank you for the news Ms. Jay, you are doing god's work!
I'm just never a fan of a superhero replacing anyone. No one can replace spiderman, or batman, or name anyone. Instead of replacing a superhero. Someone new should take the mental in the name of the superhero but with his own name, and villains. Nightwing the first superhero I can think of that did his own thing which I think a great template.
Bucky made more since taking the shield but he shouldn't take the name Captain America. Keep him Winter Soldier with Capt shield.
Lastly. Great point. Its crazy Marvel has turned into DC! It doesn't make sense...
If you know about comic book, marvel always copying DC since beginning. Meanwhile wb execs always want to copy marvel since avengers (2012) but Nolan bring snyder to prevent that from happen. The real reason wb kick snyder out because snyder told them in one of the BvS interview "DC need to be its own thing" this triggered WB execs to wage a war by using social media that snyder is bad director and they bring marvel director twice. First is joss whedon to reshoots Justice League but snyder already finished shooting and that whedon cut doesn't works well then they losing 300M, so now they bring second marvel director which is James gunn.
Christopher nolan which is known as WB golden boy decided to left WB after TENET (2021) released in Hbo max without his approval. What funny thing is they released in hbo max while the movie still aired on theaters. WB really shoots their own original director. They also assumed Matt reeves can replace Christopher Nolan as their golden boy with The Batman (2022) and that movie didn't hit 1 billion as their prediction. Instead the movie got less than suicide squad (2016) that cost much more lower
The batman production cost is 200M without marketing and the movie ended with 765M, meanwhile suicide squad (2016) production cost is 175M without marketing and the movie ended with 746M. James gunn The suicide Squad (2021) production cost is 185M without marketing and the movie ended with 167M
Amber Heard won't be able to drop enough floaters to keep Aqua Man 2 from sinking....
Thanks!
Thanks so much Ed!
Really it’s kind of obvious what they were thinking. They were thinking black Captain America, female Thor, captain marvel with gay undertones, female hulk, female Black Panther, and female Iron Man they were working to their new and improved diverse avengers. And every single one of them turned out to be a worse rendition of the originals.
And the truth of the matter is it’s because they’re lazy they didn’t wanna put forth the effort in making new characters or introducing other popular characters. They just took the lazy approach and decided to gender swap and race swap their way to being diverse which shows they have no idea what it actually means to be diverse
I love this channel so much.
They destroy our established and long lived heroes with bait and switch knock-offs we have no affinity or attachment to, SMH
The problem with Bucky being a dark Captain America wearing black is very simple. Disney…… and Disney sells toys….. hard to sell toys is they are not colorful and if the character is dark and mysterious and broody, and not light hearted goofy and funny.
Oh my god! I can't get enough of your beauty, especially in blue! 😘🥰😍💙
Thank you!
Falcon is an average human with no powers. How the hell will he be capable to handle the shield like a supersoldier like Roger or Bucky did?
Ridiculous.
When the "creators" start to ignore basic physics and character development for the sake of an agenda, you know they'll screw it up.
Marvel should have kept Sam as Falcon and expanded that character
Too🤔 much like right, though
Are there any Disney movies that are not destroyed in test screenings?
What's with awful superhero movies stealing the titles of dystopian sci-fi novels? I don't like corporations referencing 1984 or Brave New World, they're not on the side of freedom or transparency
Happy Monday Snarky! ❤ Wow, 😅 honestly I was not surprised that Marvel is turning into DC in the fun opposite way 😂 And I also wanted Bucky to become Captain America too, but it is what it is so...
Sad…
It should have been Bucky. They lost me on the show. No way this movie isn't going to be a big flop.
Falcon seemed to be a weak sidekick rather than a lead. Bucky has a darker edge that needs to be explored.
Yeah ... the Captain America character was not about "having a dark edge," .. it was the opposite. Go back to the origins. Steve was picked to be the "super soldier" not because he was an exceptional soldier (and certainly not because he had a "dark edge"). He was selected by Dr. Erskine, and Erskine told him: "Whatever happens tomorrow, you must promise me one thing. That you will stay who you are, not a perfect soldier, but a good man." Erskine also told him that a "weaker man" was a better choice to be the super soldier because the "weaker man knows the value of strength, the value of power." Bucky is perfect to be White Wolf moving forward, a role he definitely is set up to play. But Sam is the best guy to be Cap moving forward, which is why Cap himself handed over the mantle to him. You might not like it, but it is the best path (especially based on the trajectory of the MCU). The fact that Mackie is a great actor and Stan is ... well, he's likable but barely a good actor, .. makes the choice a no-brainer.
@@dashx1103 Excellent points. Yeah I realize Captain was more of the beacon of light type, but I was wondering if the story would be more interesting to have Bucky be more of an edgy Batman vigilante for a bit in the Captain America helm, then later given to the Falcon after several moral missteps, then there would be more of an appreciation of the values that the original concept stood for. Now it seems like the doo gooder story line is kind of uninspiring without a pause. I get you and great points. Thanks for providing a civilized discussion.
Underrated comment, you know your Cap backstory. Tip of the hat.@@dashx1103
Disney/Marvel Captain America just need to be shelved .The Falcon character never was fleshed

Now that I heard you out Miss Ma'am... I can't say I fully agree, BUT I see now... And It did feel a little weird But I just pushed that to side a bit... I mean yk "Sam Wilson, the Apprentice" vs "Bucky Barnes the Best Friend." Idk loll Felt funny a little bit
Spot on Jay..Bucky was the clear choice but Marvel decided to once again put message over story and made Sam Wilson Cap even though they already knew that story in the comics went no were...Not only that they neutered Bucky he went from being this bad ass assassin who could give Steve Rodgers a run for his money to being a klutz and beaten up by the women from wakanda in his buddy tv show with Falcon...Marvel has learned nothing....
A run for his money? Didnt Bucky have to pull Cap out of a river at the end od winter soldier?
Yes he did when he was beating on him when Cap refused to fight him..but earlier in the movie when they went toe to toe Bucky fought Cap to a draw...@@TheDive99
DISNEY: Nothing to do with Black or White! STOP trying to appease one or the other. Just make movies based on proven characters that we comics fans have grown to enjoy NOT because of their skin color or gender but because of wha the characters stand for! DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT from what has been established and popularized and loved by comics fans and IT WILL FLOP!!! BTW, I LOVE THIS CHANNEL. Great stuff, Snarky Jay:-) AGL
Sam Wilson could have worked but in Civil War Cap gave a great speech about standing with him or he will do it alone because it is the right thing to do. In Falcon and the Winter Soldier they gave Sam a speech where he says “you need to do better”. I do not have high hopes of this movie.
Bucky in the MCU has had more training, more experience, more...Hell everything.
True about Brubaker's run in the comics being amazing but even in the MCU Falcon has always been second tier.
Disney won't let good storytelling or strong characterisation get in the way of low returns.
Finally, the CZcams algorithm did something right and suggested this video to me. Disney seriously needs to shake the current MCU like an Etch-a-Sketch and start over, or just put it down forever. Would honestly prefer the latter.
Love this channel
I don't understand why Marvel fans don't take the time to study the BUSINESS side of what happens to a franchise. I'll make this REAL quick: after the success of Endgame, Disney got a new CEO. That new CEO became Kevin Feige's (Marvel Studios) boss. That boss saw the Endgame numbers and assumed more is better. Then, as if Kevin Feige wasn't busy enough, that CEO wanted new MCU content for the new Disney plus channel. They DOUBLED Feige's load between all the series AND the movies. Result?? Quality was compromised all around. The first few D+ shows were great but the consistency couldn't be MAINTAINED. Why? Because Disney hired writers and directors who were below standards for MCU projects. Result?? Disney FIRED the CEO. The previous CEO took over again. Kevin Feige put a hold on all remaining shows, scrapped release dates and some movies until he could take the time to increase quality for each product. This is why we may only get ONE Disney plus show in 2024. Example? Look what happened to the Daredevil series.
Bucky as Cap makes ALL the sense. 100 % . Lest we forget Falcon America is no super soldier. Perhaps Buck is lined up to be the next Black Panther. 🤣🤣
there have been times when reshoots saved a film but this doesn’t sound like one of those times, and with the title change things aren’t looking to well
True that.
