This movie was already fighting with their back against the wall simply by the fact that Sam Wilson is not Steve Rodgers but what makes it look more bad to me is that it feels like the villain and characters should be hulk characters. The red hulk and the leader are hulk villains. Combined with how Disney has been doing with all of phase 5 only makes it worse
Yeah, it's...really wild. Especially compared to the second Ant-Man film where they used Ghost who's an Iron Man villain. Not so sure how essential that villain is in the books but Ross as Red Hulk & the Leader are two of the most major Hulk villains.

Even if this movie does well, there’s so many MCU movie series that the wait for sequels to each is beyond absurd. Spider-Man had the quickest turnaround with 3 movies in four years. In fact from 2016-2021 he made 6 MCU appearances. You’re never going to see another MCU main character have that level of consistently ever again. From Phase 4 onwards it took Dr Strange 6 years, Thor 5 years, Black Panther 4 years, Ant-Man 5 years, Guardians of the Galaxy 6 years, Captain Marvel 4 years, Deadpool 6 years and Captain America 9 years to get a sequel. And unlike in Phases 1-3 you don’t see a lot of these main characters interacting with each other as often. That just makes a lot of this universe feel disconnected and really trying the audience’s patience to expect them to wait a minimum of 4 years to see their favorite character in a sequel film, or at all on the big screen in most cases. The more subseries the MCU adds the more exacerbated this issue become, especially when they add in series nobody asked for like Echo and Agatha. In the grand scheme of things you should worry less about when the next Captain America film after this will one will release and more about how sequels in general for the MCU will be released as well as the recurring appearances of the main characters. Freaking Wong made more recurring appearances than the main characters at this point.

I just don't care about trying to continue Captain America's story after 'Avengers - Endgame'. There's just NOTHING to go on. Hydra might be around, but who cares? Are they gonna just keep repeating? Another problem is Sam. He's cool and all, but he's NOT Steve Rogers, and that's a good thing. Sam is Falcon, he built his own title, his own symbol, his own character, but nope, they expect us to think that suddenly he's the big leader of the Avengers that went back in time and saved the universe. It won't cut it. It's like turning Rhodes into Iron Man, it just won't work EVER. I know there are people that think it's ok because Steve gave the shield to him and there was the whole thing in the 'Falcon and Winter Soldier' show, but they're not seeing the gigantic legacy he's gonna have to carry by being put in one of the biggest roles of the MCU. He was cool as a sidekick, but he hasn't really proven at any point that he can be protagonist. Those that just want to see Steve back are not gonna watch it and the ones that just wanted to see Falcon will have to settle for not Falcon, so all that matters is: who wants to watch it? Because I don't.

The show’s message was as subtle as a bull in a China shop and Sam’s line of doing better could be applied to Marvel. Honestly, after that series I really didn’t care to watch more of him. It’s like the modern MCU writers many of them just do not get character or keeping consistent with past films. The Russo brothers knew how to do this. These new folks I highly doubt it.

If anything, they did a better job writing Bucky as the lead, it didn't help that they tried to make the clearly evil terrorist sympathetic and made John Walker accidently act like a better character sometimes.
We've all been here before, a Marvel production that's a mess behind the scenes, bad scores with test audiences that has been rewritten and reshooted to death with a budget that will make any attempt to suceed at the box office a lost cause, it's a tradition at this point.

They had everything to make a great film, the cast and the right villian, i was hoping for a great film with the leader as the main antagonist getting ready for attack washigton with his gamma mutant army. Hot take; I don’t like Sam Wilson as Cap. I much preferred him as Falcon: his own mantle. It comes off as a hand me down and Falcon and the Winter Soldier was hot trash. As for this film, I don’t have high hopes. They’ve reshot this thing to death and it’s clear Marvel made this movie when they thought they were untouchable but thanks to the Marvels they’ve got cold water splashed on them. I wish people would stop treating film making like a recipe that has to be followed step by step with little to no error.
