    Thanks MIke for this video. I was planning to buy a HyVibe Guitar that comes with everything, but after I saw you I stopped. All the thing is that you’ll be ending buying a guitar that doesn’t meet your expectations just to have the electronic system?… Now I see that I can get one of my guitars (That I love) and install the electronics. Well done…!!

      Cutting into a beloved guitar takes a certain amount of gumption. I was going to do my 40+ year old Yamaha G-55A, but instead ended up buying a new Kremona rather than risk destroying my old friend. The trickiest part is placement of the Actuators. If they are not in just the right place the guitar can develop some buzzing and feedback with certain of the effects. If you get a chance, let me know what guitar you HyVibe. Best of luck ! >>Mike

      @@MikeMesseswithMusic hello Mike. Brave and skilled install. Thanks for the video. I have a couple of questions. I am not experienced with doing any guitar work so I would have to take it to a luthier to install it. Approximately how much do you think an install would cost me?
      I don't currently have an acoustic guitar so I'm trying to determine if going the route of purchasing the guitar, hyvibe system and installation is better than just buying the Lag guitar from hyvibe. Thanks

      @@allboutthemojo Hi there, I bought a Lag guitar for around 250e and the hyvibe kit for 350e so total around 600e. The cheapest hyvibe here is around 1500 on a Lag guitar so much cheaper and interesting to do it yourself! Following Mikes description helps avoid any pitfalls! You could buy a cheaper acoustic (they are so much better these days) I used a Lag because I live here in SW France near where they were originally created (and still do) so I say go for it! Hey Mike, nice job! Your playing is just fine!! I actually live a short distance away from where the Lagg guitars and Hyvibe concept was born, Toulouse in south west France (but I am English!)
    I have a Lagg semi-acoustic and have just ordered a Hyvibe kit for it! Being able to watch someone install one is very valuable and it is a kind thing to do, so thank you for putting in the effort to do this. A demonstration on setting up the equalizes and effects would be a great tutorial. I recently purchased acHyVibe 30 DCE and found out it needed some adjustments to get the effects to work and the volume. To make matters worse it turned out it was a defective unit so I returned it and purchased a new one. The effects and volume were very low and the charging light indicator didn’t come on. After the charge in the battery ran down I tried to charge it again but it wouldn’t charge and the panel stayed lit and locked on but still no charge. HyVibe mentioned that t could do that and to remedy that problem I push and hold the on off button for ten seconds which worked in turning it off. Now before anyone has anything negative to say I found out mine wasn’t the first as another one had the same problem and had been returned the day before. There is a tutorial here on CZcams about a unity being installed on an ovation along with making some adjustments to prevent feed back and set up the effects but was very basic. I don’t know if you had the same problem or not but if you did could you go over the use of the effects adjusting it and getting it to sound like demo videos.thank,you

    I’ll be adding my HyVibe to a Journey parlor travel guitar - thanks for your long-form tutorial. I might have messed up the actuators when removing it from my original guitar. The black plastic rings that surface Mount, they’re a little deformed from removal. I’ll recondition/clean up with a dremel and then glue and test Bluetooth thru soundhole like you did, before moving on with other elements.
    Great units overall. Hoping this reinstall will work…

    • @McDowellCountyYoungLife
      @McDowellCountyYoungLife Před rokem +1

      @@MikeMesseswithMusic The actuators were difficult to remove. I used a mixture of tools to carefully pry them off of the top. Had to re-glue the plastic slightly with liquid super glue. Then I gently took them across a sanding block to re-flatten the plastics and used gel control super glue on the Journey to install. Other than that, the installation was smooth. The benefit on the journey is that they also have their K and K style pickup installed and I left it in. Now live I can plug into the Journey transducer and leave the HyVibe effects on and they sound wonderfully natural. Much better than the HV’s plugged in sound, IMO. The old guitar I’ll turn the cutout into a sound port and put a Journey transducer under the top.

    Love this unit, but not wanting to drill large holes in my concert guitar! Would be okay with the actuators and bottom hole for the in\out jack's - wish they made a stealth version fitting the whole unit as one piece into that little jack hole. The you control the unit through your phone. Much simpler install as well. I know I'm in the minority because so many electro acoustic guitars out there have the big old convenient but ugly control panel on the top side. Still. I guess one could mount the control unit within the sound hole somehow though obviously it would be harder to use the controls that way. Also considering the Tonewood amp as it's less invasive, though this one is nicer functionally obviously. OMG the Bluetooth thing where the guitar is playing some other guy playing the guitar - pretty amazing. Incredible for duets as well.

      Thanks for the comments Eric, I would consider the Tonewood, it seems like a great compromise. However if you simply add a piezo strip under the saddle and make the small 1/4 inch connector hole. You can plug into a Positive Grid Spark 40 or Spark Mini, check out my video reviewing the Spark Mini, it is really awesome. You can also hear some great players using my Traveler Classical Nylon guitar with the Spark Mini on my Liverpool video

      Hi John, I have seen good comments from people buying the Hyvibe Guitars. I can admit to you I am not happy with both of the installs I did. The Classical Kremona has a deep buzz which indicates something I installed is loose. I am going to have to go back and re do part of that install. The features of the HyVibe electronics are quite good. I use several of the effects quite often, and the looper is great fun. But nothing that cannot be done with a decent amp and a foot pedal. Ask yourself where you will be playing it and if the standalone feature is important go for it, if you are brave, or foolish like me do it yourself :)

    • @MikeMesseswithMusic
      @MikeMesseswithMusic  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Billy, If you have an acoustic guitar, either nylon or steel string without any electronics. This is a very versatile way to upgrade the guitar. The in guitar amplification is so easily accessible, and portable, without needing an external amp. The variety of effects is somewhat staggering, though you only install 8 at a time on the guitar the phone app contains dozens to choose from. I recently added a foot switch to start and stop the looper. It adds so much depth to what I can play. I guess you could say I am a fan of the HyVibe kit!

    Is the super glue holding well? I don't love SG on these works as it can become brittle. Epoxy seems better.
    Are the actuators and FXs in the unit sending the signal in stereo? i ask because it would probably produce a better hall and specially a better chorus than a tonewoodamp but if the two actuators have the exact same signal it would be fairly the same.
    Thank you!

    • @MikeMesseswithMusic
      @MikeMesseswithMusic  Před 2 lety

      Hi Sacco, The super glue that I used (was recommended ) is a gel type , it has a thicker consistency and seems to have worked very well for the actuators. I have had the straps that affix to the sides of the guitar come loose using that glue. I will take your recommendation and try an epoxy to re-affix them.
      As for the Stereo question, nothing I have seen indicated the actuators work as a stereo pair. And I really doubt that would work if they did, because they are both vibrating the same bridge and top. So they produce a single resonance.
      Mike

    • @SaccoBelmonte
      @SaccoBelmonte Před 2 lety

      @@MikeMesseswithMusic Hey! Thanks so much for your reply.
      I still think a stereo reverb, chorus or leslie would greatly benefit from two actuators in stereo. Perhaps not around the bridge, I would rather put them far apart from each other say the lower and upper body. Even if the actuators are moving the same piece of wood they will do at different phases and frequencies where the actuators are and I bet that will open a stereo reverb so it sounds wider. It would do wonders with a leslie FX.
      If it made any sense to get two tonewoodamp units I would go ahead and try it (I'm kinda tempted), but it means a lot more weight in the guitar and also makes no sense money wise. But if I were to do that I would try different settings of the same effect, say a chorus with two different speeds. It has to sound wider that a single actuator.
      Obviously we aren't talking stereo as in "two speakers on both sides of your head" but it should really make a difference.

    • @MikeMesseswithMusic
      @MikeMesseswithMusic  Před 2 lety

      Hi Sacco, the Super Glue hold the Actuators very well. It is a Gel Super Glue and has held up well.
      But I have had the straps on the sides of the guitar to hold the cabling come loose. I will redo them with Epoxy,
      As for Stereo, I am sure they are not stereo, and as both actuators are working on the same sound board. I don't think Stereo would not separate.
      Good luck with your install!
