    Amazing i had the same thought of putting an amp and speaker inside a acoustic guitar my concept is just i little bit different, its like a mini tuned speaker enclosure (using the guitar body as the enclosure Of course) (Tweeter, Woofer, Subwoofer). I hope you build one one day, i want to make it to as like a weekend project or something but im still not capable of doing so cuz im still a kiddo and we don't have enough resources.

    Fascinating stuff Jez, wow. I am looking into ordering a unit but in the mean time feel emboldened to take saw and drill to some less-expensive guitars I have that need battery mounts, conversion to bass, etc.

    I think if you installed the wires first, you can then angle the fit through the sound hole and then in place of its mounting hole? Then screw it down.

    Great video, how well do you think this would work with a 12 string?

    Hy, Jeremy, thanks for these amazing video...

    08:33 there is a larger space between D and the G string

      Yes my lord - that's what gives my guitar such impressive sound quality - rather like a live music band that makes minor errors that nobody but the insane would notice! But actually the gap between strings can be more easily seen at 22 seconds. Why drudge your way throlugh my boring video to discover it after 8 minutes?! I will have to stop using guesswork when I build my guitars .

      You can't see! So it is best practice exact location before using glue. This is why I cut a hatch in the back of the guitar: czcams.com/video/rpTOi8wYu2Y/video.html

    Thanks for this video, Jeremy. I'm glad Hyvibe decided to sell their tech independent of a guitar so I can install it in my own guitar. Do you think I could skip installing the output unit, since I don't plan to amplify my guitar? It looks like there's a USB-C connector in the unit itself, correct? I know it's fiddly to get your hand inside the guitar to make the connection, but perhaps a short USB-C extension could be installed and glued just inside the sound hole to be able to easily plug in a charging cable?

    • @WoodomainJeremyBroun
      @WoodomainJeremyBroun  Před 2 lety

      The output unit / pre-amp is the core of the system linking to the two actuators under the top and also the piezo pickup. The volume of the guitar only amplification comes through the unit. The main problem is in wiring the controller once in position. My solution (as shown) is to enlarge the hole factionally pre-wire the unit (easily) then slip it in but the problem is the anchorage screws have nowhere to go so a superglue would have to be used. I have made my suggestions to HyVibe to enlarge the lip on the pre-amp controller but no response. I dont quite understand your question about an extension USBC cable as it still has to be connected to the pre-amp and there already is a cable running to the output component at the bottom of the guitar. Maybe you need to watch my video again.

    Good stuff. Seriously considering getting one for my acoustic/electric, but I worry about stability of the sides after cutting squares out. Mine's a steel string but an integrated neck joint (spanish)....no dovetail. I'm worried that this type of neck attachment might limit drilling holes through the acacia.

    • @WoodomainJeremyBroun
      @WoodomainJeremyBroun  Před rokem +1

      Without seeing your guitar I cant see how the HyVibe location would affet the strength of the sides. You can of course locate the unit lower down on the belly, just marry up the curvature has much as possible.
