This movie is literally everything to me. Not long after my mother passed away in 2018, I met my beautiful mexican wife. We watched this for the first time together, and I couldn't help but cry my eyes out, but what she did was truly breathtaking for me. She held me in her arms and said she wanted to honour my mum on her ofrenda.
Me and Maria are still going as strong as ever in our relationship. She is my whole universe and I am blessed every single day I get to wake beside her.
When I proposed to her I played the song at the end of the movie "proud corazón" and sang it to her in Spanish. She is my proud heart.
Wow man you literally made me smile and tear up, I'm sorry for your loss and I'm happy that you found the one, i wish all the best for you guys ❤
Omg, this is so sweet, felicidades for getting such a beautiful wife by ur side, hi from México ❤
Just wanted to say Imelda didn’t think Hector left. He did leave. The thing she didn’t know was why he never came back
Exactly--Héctor was not entirely innocent of what she believed. She didn't want him to leave on tour at all. I don't think he intended to leave forever, but he did leave, very much against Imelda's wishes, while she had a small child at home to take care of. And as far as she could tell, he left her for music (she treats it like the other woman, really). And I wouldn't put it past de la Cruz to feed this paranoia--"Oh, yes, Imelda, he sold me his guitar for a train ticket to somewhere far away from you!" (After all, he was famous, and the guitar was famous, so she'd have seen that he had it.)
@@babs3241 Given the way the family avoids music, it wouldn't surprise me if, had Hector made it big, she would've been clueless. Obviously he didn't, De la Cruz did, but still.
Mexicans DO speak Spanish. 😅😅 Like 90% of Latin America speaks Spanish.
Except in Brazil, and certain areas, the rest of Latin America speak Spanish. A veces me sorprende que no sepan eso.
They speak Portuguese. The thing about spanish is every region speaks in a different cadence. Mexican spanish is slower than most spanish speaking countries. @23marian
@@BigMoore1232 yes. Exactly I'm from Argentina so we have a particular accent as well. But, when I watch reaction videos it surprises me that most reactors don't know that. I was watching a reaction just yesterday and the reactor asked if the people from Chile speak Spanish. I don't know...like I said it surprises me and sometimes I feel a little angry about it
It's so good ❤
@@23marian I used to do mma at a gym with a few Brazilians and I tried to learn some Portuguese online and it turns out they speak their own kind if Portuguese but similar. I've traveled all over the U.S and have heard spanish spoken so differently by people from different countries. I can understand spanish and speak enough to get by but people from like Puerto Rico speak so fast my brain just can't do it lol
I love how you guys hyped each other's singing ability up. Cute couple.
Aww hahah, thanks buddy ❤
Interesting to note: Gael Garcia Bernal plays Hector in both the English and Spanish versions of Coco.
15:00 The "leaves" are actually Marigold petals. The Mairgold is the "flower of the dead" in Mexico and used as a primary decoration during Dia de los Muertos.
Wow thanks for letting us know ❤
En México la conocemos como Flor de Cempasúchil...
Besides decoration, it’s also a petal they use as a way for the death to find their path to their love ones, that’s why it’s on the floor so they know where to go.
52:32 "Music is passion, music is hope, music is life" - Daniela Villarreal. She is, as it happens, from Mexico, and the vocalist/guitarist in the Mexican rock band The Warning, together with her two sisters, Paulina and Alejandra. I love this movie, one of Pixar's best, imo. Even though I am not Mexican, I don't even speak spanish, I think dia de muertos is a beautiful tradition, and a really nice way to remember your dead family members, and make sure they're not forgotten. Pixar rarely miss, and they hit the bullseye with this movie.
Absolutely, thanks for watching ❤
Frida Kahlo is actually an iconic figure in Mexico. Y’all should look her up and another disney movie, Encanto is really good too.
Ooo we'll definitely check it out ❤
Never fails to make me cry!!!
It was so beautiful, thanks for watching ❤
Mamá Imelda reminds me so much of my grandma (who is Mexican lol) because they have the same stature and my grandma had black hair with the same white stripe for most of my childhood. When I first saw this movie it hit me right in the gut because of the resemblance
*Out of the songs in this movie, my favorite is "Un Poco Loco", which translates to "a little crazy". Also, speaking as a Mexican-American, this movie is pretty factual to real-life preparations/mythos for El Dia De Los Muertos, or the Day Of The Dead. Especially with Dante's role. As a breed of dog called a Xoloitzquintli (zo-low-eats-queent-lee), he has a role of being a spirit guide through the afterlife.*
Woww that's amazing, thanks for watching buddy ❤😃
@@wadumin You're very welcome
i love seeing how much y'all love each other. so pure and wholesome 🫶🌟
Ayy thank you sm my friend ❤
In México we talk Spanish, there's no "mexican"
Not Mexican but I am Latin American. Mexican would probably be a Native American language but yeah even then Mexican isn’t an official language it’s just Spanish with dialect
To be extremely fair, during the first years of the conquest, the name for “nahuatl” was still not used for the language of the mexica, their language was simply called “mexicano” in reference to the Mexica, latter on it would be labeled nahuatl as part of the “uto azteca” language tree.
So technically 500 years ago there was for a brief period the mexican language
I always cry when I hear "Remember Me". Btw you need to watch "Encanto" if you haven't already. It's a beautiful movie full of music and it tackles the subject of generational trauma, just as "Coco" does ❤
Omg that part was so beautiful, we'll definitely check it out ❤
At 49:30 you said something critical, something that makes this family's story so much more tragic. Yes, the skeletons in the Land of the Dead look as old as they were when died. Mamá Coco was about 100 years old. Mamá Imelda, her mother, was in her 70s when she died, according to the creators, so that would have been in the 1970's, if you consider the main story of the movie to happen in 2017, when it first came out. And Héctor? We're told in that flashback that Ernesto murdered him when he felt homesick and wanted to return home, which was mere months after he left. Coco was about 3/4 years old at the time, and if we estimate that Héctor was more or less the same age as Imelda, he would have been in his early 20's when he died. That's so tragic, he was too young (and another thing: Miguel tells us in the beginning of the movie that Ernesto died in 1942 so, making that same assumption that he was around Héctor's age, he spent about 20 years harnessing fame and fortune for himself after murdering his best friend, while Imelda and the rest of the family were left thinking they had been abandoned and Héctor thinking he had died of food poisoning and not being able to return to the Land of the Living for Día de los Muertos for a 100 years
It's fascinating to think about the similarities in traditions across different cultures, like the celebration of the dead in Mexico in India we too have that [ a whole week dedicated 'sharrad' ] where we give offerings and believe our loved ones who we lost on the way visit us.
i love your reactions love love you are the purest and that resonates to me a lot
just love ♥
Yess it's absolutely beautiful, much love ❤
I used to get emotional with the last singing part, but we lost our mum to cancer couple months ago and it definitely hits harder ❤
Same here with my grandma, already over two years since it happen but after that, this movie has been hitting way harder.
The final part when they out Coco's Picture in the ofrenda just destroy's me 😭😭😭😭
That's my favorite Pixar movie ever ❤❤
Yeah... one of the best movies ever!
It was beautiful ❤
Awwwww!!!! You guys!!!! You’re so cute in how you support and love each other. ❤❤❤❤

Yay 🎉
I finally got to watch your reactions and just like i thought when I got the notification for this, it's another Great reaction from you both.
I knew you would both get emotional during this. 🤗
But I love how you both get really invested in the movies and are so insightful.
It's really refreshing.
Buddy your accents are spot on.
First the British accent in 28 days later and now this, keep it up.
Keep the great reactions coming, I'm still trying to catch up with your past reactions.
Never stop bringing them please. 😂
Ayyy i appreciate your support buddy, you're the best ❤
this movie always makes me shed a tear or two. Nice watching it again with you guys, its been a while since i last saw this ❤
Thanks for watching ❤
Dammit, you havee tearing up and struggling to hd it together in my car while working!
Coco made me cry in the middle of a children's bday party- it is so deep and real. 💛
Ayy thanks for watching my friend ❤
I think one of the part that most Americans miss from looking Coco is the ammount of references to the Mexican culture, the singers and actors portraited in the movie, like Mario Moreno y Pedro Infante
Thnx for the reaction!!! I've been requesting!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for watching ❤
Love this movie ❤
Absolutely loved it, thanks for watching ❤
Heart touching ❤️
Yess😢❤
My favorite 2017 movie 💕🎶🎥

Brother bear is a good movie too!
Added, thanks for suggesting ❤
SIMPLY BEATIFUL MOVI....
.... 😢😢😢😢😢😢
Dia de muertos is a real celebration here in Mexico, 1st & 2nd November, some people think that Pixar created this celebration 😅
39:52 but it is his fault lol he left
just because he wanted to come back doesn't mean he didn't abandon his family in the first place
That makes no sense.
@@lightofeyezz he abandoned his family, even if he came back that doesn't erase the fact that he did leave in the first place and hurt his wife and daughter
How does that not make sense
@@TheeEarthQueen it does actually, and he did apologize at the end, we all do mistakes and what matters is how we act right after it, thanks for watching ❤
@@wadumin so if your dad left you and your mom to fend for yourselves (it literally says at the start of the movie that she was forced to learn a skill to make money to feed coco) and decided to come back a few months later it would be ok bc he said "sawry my bad :( you need forgive me bc I came back" ?
@@TheeEarthQueen of course it depends on the person and their honesty, but in this animation we saw that he genuinely regretted his decision and was willing to leave everything and go back home to his family, so yes, in a world where forgiving or not forgetting someone who is truly sorry for what they've done is strange and rare, I'd forgive him
I absolutely love Coco and unfortunately my dad's mom when she was still alive eventually started having memory problems like Coco did and if i remember correctly my Grandma's memory problems was being caused by due Alzheimer's and back in 2018 she passed away oh yeah and little fun fact in Chinese culture they have a Holiday that's similar to Dia De Los Muertos and this holiday is called Qingming also known as the Pure Brightness Festival and in China during Qingming the people even leave offerings for the deceased just like in Hispanic culture and if i remember correctly they'll also have pictures of the deceased put up in memorial/remembrance
RIP To your grandmother my friend, thanks for watching ❤
Yippee!

Those are petals of the marigold a very sacred flower

Thank you❤ luv you
Have to thank Academy Award-winning songwriters Robert Lopez and wife Kristen Anderson for writing the brilliant song “Remember Me.”
Looks like Frozen’s “Let It Go” isn’t their only win!
I looooved that song ❤
This movie makes me cry every time. The day my ex-wife alienated me from my 4 and a half year-old daughter….I died inside. She’s now 22 years old.
(Voice breaking): I’m sure she has forgotten me.
Awww man I'm so sorry, i hope everything goes well for you my man ❤

20:10 Everybody in South America and almost everybody elsewhere know that animals are specials : they can see the dead, the spirits, things that living humans can't see ! I didn't know you didn't know that... This is famous
Yup but i thought maybe there's a different reason for it

Yes she does the Link is in the description, thanks for watching ❤😃
Someone answer me pls. If Coco had her babyphoto back on the olfrenda at the end of the movie with hector and imelda, why does she have to put a new picture on the olfrenda?😮

I always try to tell myself that the cliché about americans knowing nothing about the world is wrong but you make it hard.
Yes, in mexico they speak spanish. Same for every country in latin america except brasil where they speak portugese.
Haha, everyone in México speak spanish, but actually it's not a official language, because we have another 60 native languages
El español si es lenguaje oficial en México
That's awesome, much love ❤
20:06 "We're all gonna be forgotten one day".... No... No... Not if the ones who knew you talk about you, not if you done something special like helping someone, not if you left a trace, not if people keep remembering you on dia de los muertos (for instance)
Yes but someday, if not in a hundred, maybe in a thousand years, we'll finally be forgotten
Im still wondering why the flower bridge had guards when people couldnt cross without a photo anyway
LMAOOO that's a great point
