You’re so right. Flies are by far better for hypertrophy than presses : greater range of motion, insane stretch, no triceps.
Been telling people this for YEARS. Every muscle responds best via isolation.
@@anab0lic I agree. That is pure logic. I barely do compound movements - only as a warm-up or when I lack time for the current training session.
This video shows why Eric is one of the best fitness trainers and bodybuilders in the world! Great work Eric!
Nobody better to prove the science behind which movement's are most effective, with the results to show! Love the content on this channel mate 👌🏻💪🏻
Oh!!! And again, a useful, scientific video! Thank you, Eric!
My pleasure!
Great job, mate. Highly appreciated! ❤
Eric's chest is still recovering from filming this video.
“If you guys love it”…. Yes we absolutely want more of this content!
Being a family man that watching workout vids with my kids nearby.. Thanks for your clean content.. Definitely subscribing..

Awesome! Thank you!
Loving these videos...super useful
Definitely interested in more of this type of content. I think it would be awesome to see the quads on the charts. That’s another great group.
Great video on the different versions.
Helped me chose two or three to alternate if plateau.
Keep it up and look forward to more science based best exercises
I absolutely love these videos, and the way you train. It’s an awesome way of getting absolute max out of hard work, without getting injured.
Great channel! Love your content! I've been trying those hypertrophy techiques
Priceless information, sir! Today was my back day and I followed your previous video and it clobbered me. Best back pump I've had in forever. Can't wait for chest day!!👍
Love these videos! Please do one for chest presses and squats
Definitely do this for every muscle group!!!
Loving the testing videos!! Great information!!
More of these please!!
Very cool data. Please keep doing these videos!
Would be interested to see some data for quad exercises next
Definitely do more of these vids but don’t burn yourself out bro but again great content and I’m excited to try the number one exercise
Thanks for this review and breakdown with the EMG data. Super helpful as a fellow long armed individual to hear your input. 👏🙏
Top notch content. Thanks and more please 🙏 🔥
love your content!!
Glad you enjoy it!
Got to say I was staring at all those blinking lights on your pec the whole time...great video.
Strong work big dog!💪😎
Bruh I’m loving this content! It’s funny that I’m doing a few of these already just based on playing with the cables and what I feel the most stretch and burn in my chest. You doing this video confirms my thoughts and gave me a couple new exercises to focus on. 7 weeks in, can’t wait to see what I look like in the next 7 with this new information.
Love it! Love your content!
Glad you enjoy it!
This was great! Would love to see this with all muscle groups and exercise. If possible, it would also be great if you could place electrodes on accessory muscles in addition to the target muscle to see how much engagement and recruitment is seen as the set progresses.
absolutely love the bench supported cable fly and have also found it to provide superb chest activation. I have always struggled with routine barbell presses and dumbbell bench flys with maintaining proper form and chest activation versus delt activation, but not so with bench supported seated cable or pec deck flys. Great video Eric, love the scientific proof videos!
Thanks for all the hard work. Learned a lot!
Very welcome!
Love these videos, they're super useful. Keep them coming! Author a paper when you've done them all!
Thank you! Will do!
I LOVE these! Can you put your ranking up on the screen at the end so I can screenshot it and put in my workout notes?
They are awesome brother! Love these and the tips you give are great. Thank you!
My pleasure!
Great content bro! Keep it up! Information is power 💪🏾
Appreciate it!
Definitely love these, keep it up man 💪
More to come!
@@ericjanickifitness this video begs the questions... what would be the variances between you and other individuals with these activation measurements??? Will people with different body mechanics get wildly different reading? If you know any literature on this, please share!
Love it now you need to do one with the different bars, And compare them to your flies
Awesome video, please do more EMG videos !!!
you're the best!
Great information
I love you content bro.😎
More of these vids please 🙏
Really verry useful fly chestworkout thksm ❤❤❤
Great info for this novice.... thank you & keep them coming please
More to come!
Please make more videos on this
Very useful information thanks for sharing
Thanks for visiting
As an MD, using objective data to support something is superior to subjective data. I’m all for spending my time performing exercises supported by some EMG data vs guessing what is best.
These videos are elite and I appreciate you investing your time in these data driven videos. We will all benefit greatly.
Well said!
Light machine fly, heavy seated cable fly & heavy incline DB press are my fortification movements. Thank's Eric! Looking forward to seeing how science proves what get's the best stimulation for the rest of the body, compared to how I lift.
Truly underrated
Greetings from Barcelona Eric!
Do more of those.. also wanted to see presses
Makes me think that the seated converging chest press machine is probably a solid option.
I have a feeling flys are best too if you think about the main 3 functions of the pecs, shoulder adduction, shoulder depression, and horizontal adduction. Horizontal adduction is what we're training when doing presses and flys, and if you look at what the horizontal adduction function looks like it's pretty much a fly. Just makes sense that flys would be best since it's the main function of the pec.
Please make videos for biceps
More more!
"I don't wanna sleep on the dumbbell flies"😂😂😂😂
I've gotten way more chest development and strength since incorporating dips, than I ever got from benchpress.
I want more 🎉
Thanks for an insightful video. Wonder if these data directly translate to gains.
Most likely
Yo Eric! Can you bounce your pecs in your future CZcams videos please?
insane request😭😭
$1500 per pec per bounce.
????
Pause bro
Great suggestion! Would make many of your fans very very happy to see Pec-Bouncing by you!
Corect SUA Eric
I wish I could implement this data! unfortunately iv got golfers elbow :(
Hey Tiny,
we want more of these surface emg reading vids.....for all muscle groups.
Liiiiiiffftttt !
:)
I think it would be great if you can then take the top 3, and delve even further.
So for example, the machine flyes to work out the ideal heights and seat position, how low or high the handles are etc and how much it effects the readings, or you could do heavy lower reps, vs lighter longer sets etc for machine flyes specifically, and also compare the handles. (Then call the video 'Determining the Ultimate way to Use Machine Flyes')
and same with the 90 degree cables, like, ok, we've established 90 degree seating is best, but how about now using different cable heights, so again, doing the low to upper flyes, mid chest flyes, and high to low flys. (as previously they were all standing/bent over).
Or do that, but then compare them to 90 degree seated PRESS movements, so same low to upper, mid height, high to low, PRESS. so we get clear results of same 90 degree bench, same cable start positions, but press vs flyes.
But also with both of those there are many positions our hands can end up, like we can keep our hands quite high and have the arm stretch sort of 90 degrees in front of us, or we can even sort of bring the arms down to our belly, or even bring the arms/hands in front of us upwards at like a 45 degree angle. all of these slight adjustments can massively effect the area of the chest it hits and the activation of the muscles (which is why i love mixing them all up and using cables more than anything).
One I would personally love to see, and something i stand by, is that with all these chest fly movements, (or some of the presses), is to touch the inner wrists with each other so you're almost ending in a supinated position. Would be cool to see that compared to NOT rotating the wrist and touching inside and just keeping the hands static and pronated throughout.
Make sense?
Who else feels this vicarious shoulder pain when eric takes his set to that preposterous stretch😂
Song at the start of the video?
Doesn’t the muscle being fatigued by the 4 th exercise have any effect on the data
How many fly varitations do u reccomend per session for a lagging chest? I also have the same issues as you..
It all depends how you recover. You can do all these crazy high intense sets but your volume have to be lower. Most these sience guys say that it is not benefcial to do all sets to falure and beyond. On bulk I can do only 4 intense sets of squats or hack sqat and cannot walk for 3 days. When I do more it is overkill. If you want to spend less time in the gym you need to train more intensive and in oposite more volume - less intense. If flys are not so great you can do extra set and it will be the same stimulus as this 90 cable fly. If your chest feel sore after workout and it is lagging and you do not progess in weights more intese workuts are not great option. You may be doing too much. If you do not progess and you do not feel sore at all train more intensive. Ofcourse diet need to be on point.
How could those incline flys score so low?
I'm 48 and just started working out for the first time basically since HS. I recently started utilizing your techniques and in just the last three workouts using them, I can already notice a difference in my body and my pump is lasting much longer. Please keep up the great content, it's Gold Jerry!
Why didn’t you test the Around the Worlds? Help us home gym people out
There's nothing about you being in the ifbb? No competing? Shoulders like a gorilla❤
Believe it or not, Eric is still an amateur so it would be NPC. Hard to believe. His physique is phenomenal!
Video Gym Pozele
The EMG sensors at 0:29 - 0:34 were hidden under the tape during the workout.
He's claiming to be using the same sensors, he just taped them up with black tape so they don't come off and for more accurate measurement. In the lat video he did it with those exact same censors, so I don't see the conspiracy of why would he change them or lie about that :)
@@staszewaM I'm not saying he would lie. I was just pointing out the visual differences.
@@gymrules27 Fair enough, just wanted to explain he's using the same ones.
@@staszewaM thank you
Huge caveat. EMG is not predictor of hypertrophy.
i cant keep saying the same again and again … for such a handsome man who can focus on his huge biceps … that face is just … enough
So 4th place is actually 3rd place.
big man... saying big words...
Yo Eric! Can you bounce your glutes in your future CZcams videos please?
Glutes 🍑
Yeah Share your glorious glutes with us all, please! Would love to see the striations! BTW tell us your measurements, please! Got excellent symmetry The massive pecs are matched by spectacular sweep of the thighs. (I'm swooning badly!)
