I totally agree with u, heis soo awesome and has been soo gifted but it sounds like in some of his songs that he let the booze ,women and the blazing trail take it away,seems that he has dealt with some sad deep lonely times and only now in the last few yes. really is realizing it and been putting it in song.i still admire him and he's soo sweet.sometimes its wonderful to listen to bob ,and other times it hurts to listen without crying"coming home" is a great example.💙
Means something special to me too we played this song at my older brother Randy's funeral he was a big Bob Seger fan so I thought it felt right playing this for him to rest in peace miss you brother

I once, at the age of 10, just stood in the midst of a light snow in the forest behind my house where I grew up. I've never felt so much peace & the quiet, OMG! This song makes me feel the same way. On that day, I think I could've sat down there forever. It's now all gone thanks to a farmer.
I moved back home in '80 after 10 years gone in the military, I got out to come home so mom and dad could get to know my girls. by early '82 they were both gone. this brings it all back. Thx.
Everytime I listen to this Song it brings a tear to my eye. The feelings that this song releases. This is by far imho the best song Bob has ever recorded. I left Michigan during my High School years because of my fathers job. Joined the military and have only gone back a few times. Was amazed at all the changes that had happened while I was gone. All of my friends that I remembered for before I had left lives had continued on and they weren't the same as from what I had remembered.
I also left Michigan to join the AF and guess what? My first duty station was Wurtsmith Air Force Michigan, but later Guam, Germany, and California, "20 years I don't know" went by fast. Now 45 years later in Washington State. I served my last 4 years at K. I. Sawyer Air Force Michigan. With Bob Seger all the way.
Gotta tell you, I could listen to Bob's music all day long. Not only a poet & a teller of life's tales but a rare way of blending music & voices. He'll put me to sleep like a baby being rocked every time.

Unfortunately his last collaboration with the fabulous Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section after ten long and extremely fruitful years marked the beginning of a slow downturn in his career. Maybe he should have thought it through a little more.

I really believe home is where you were raised ! I lived in many places some good some bad ! But I never regretted leaving Michigan ! I found out by leaving there are things I miss people in sports legends of music ! They also found my home in South Carolina is one of the best places I've ever lived because of one reason it's the people they don't judge you like people Michigan do ! Michigan is a dying state economically you should get out of Michigan socially if you're young at heart it's a good place grow up ! Michigan taught me I could live anywhere and be successful because of my faith my heart ! For that I miss Michigan ! Sports teams will never be champions Lions will never win the Super Bowl! This was the last song Bob recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound, ending a 10 year run that produced so much gold and platinum. I've always wondered if that's what he meant when he references 10 long years and now he's coming home. He spent a lot of time here in Sheffield, Alabama and we still consider him, as we do everyone who came to make a hit, as an honorary citizen of the Shoals. Just listen to the wonderful piano playing of the late great Barry Beckett. Barry was such a musical genius on the keyboards, writing, producing and engineering that when he left Muscle Shoals for Nashville, Bob followed him and recorded an album there.

I now live in Austin, Tx. My home is Detroit. I feel exiled, abandoned and forever trying to find my way back home. My Detroit of 49 years ago is all but gone not knowing of this lost pup and the longing. I have my memories and my faith that one day all that has brought me here will come full circle. When the day comes i,ll be buried back "home".

makes alot of sense. i know how you must feel. ive had alot happen to me as well and i feel like family has left me out of alot of things such as family reunions etc and so on. when my dad has passed, my cousin catered a dinner at my bro and late sis in laws house. i had no idea one was going on. i had called mysis in law to ask her a question, could hear alot of people in the background, she asked some1 if i should be invited. sucked being left out to begin with.

@chance501 Same thing here folks about the screen saver. Boath mom and dad went within seven months of each other. Just in the past year at that. Not a day goes by I don't think of them both but to be able to look over at the monitor that was sitting idle and have both their faces pop up smiling....well lets just say it helps to get me through my day sometimes.

This was my cousins favorite songs...He was like my brother who I loved with all my heart! He married and lived in Jacksonville, Florida. One night he worked for one of his employee and he was robbed in the convenient store! The man shot him 3 times he died! This was what was played @ his funeral!!! I miss him so much it hurts. @chance501 Same thing here folks about the screen saver. Boath mom and dad went within seven months of each other. Just in the past year at that. Not a day goes by I don't think of them both but to be able to look over at the monitor that was sitting idle and have both their faces pop up smiling....well lets just say it helps to get me through my day sometimes.

This was my cousins favorite songs...He was like my brother who I loved with all my heart! He married and lived in Jacksonville, Florida. One night he worked for one of his employee and he was robbed in the convenient store! The man shot him 3 times he died! This was what was played @ his funeral!!! I miss him so much it hurts. So people treasure your loved ones because tomorrow is not promised... God Bless anybody that reads this comment! 😢😢😭😭🙏😇❤By the way they never caught the man that killed him!!!God know who he is!!
