Hope you enjoyed our latest video! Thanks for the suggestion 😃🏸 Sorry it took so long!
When my badminton club opened for the first time after lock down I was finally put into the advance team but these videos still help me a lot to get my techniques right.
That’s great to hear Ryan, keep it up 😀
How did you practice during lockdown because I feel like the only person who couldnt
I started playing drop in badminton for the first time at the age of 31 about 5 months ago at my local community center and am having an absolute blast. I am planning on starting lessons next month, but in the mean time I've been watching your videos and practicing a lot of the tips you give. The other day while playing doubles against two players who were definitely better than me. I generally smash it whenever its above my head (one of my few skills I think I do well and win points off of) but remembered back to this video and decided to mix a drop shot in. I lined up like I was going to smash and then hit it softer to the front. To my surprise- it completely fooled them and we won the point. Thank you from a total amateur in Canada for all these videos you're making, you're helping make badminton more accessible to everyone!
I am currently struggling with my drops and was looking for a way to improve it then this video came out. perfect timing 😍
Happy to help! 😄🏸
This is awesome!! One of my fav shots and I can now improve on it even more! 🥳🥳🥳
Another great video - so much new information to take in! I personally liked the exercise at the end and how you always add some fun into your videos 😅 Keep it going 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it Graham! 😄🏸
Estou apaixonada pelo badminton, estes videos tem me ajudado muito! Gratidão infinita!!!!!
Loved this video, was drilling this with my son on our Sunday afternoon session today. It'd be great to see some videos on how to coach the youngsters, what drills would be best for them, etc. Keep up the good work G & J.
Thank you so much Rob 😄
Thank you so much, I need to coach for my P.E classmates and this has helped me so much!
Thanks for the video ! Pure gold as always ! Time to put all these tips in the next training session. Can't wait for the next video in Sunday ;-)
Thank you so much! 😃
Starting to play again after 10 years, love your videos! Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much - amazing to hear you've picked up a racket again!! 😄🏸
Great video again! This is one of the shots I regularly practice in my warm-up, so will focus on the techniques you have shown, to check I'm doing it right and to improve 👍 Looking forward to videos on the other types of drop shot 🙂 I occasionally slice (for some variation) - seems to work ok, but I'm sure there's more for me to learn!! 😊
Thank you so much Tom! 😊👍🏼
Amazing video - great tip about the non racket hand pointing towards the shuttle to gauge flight path and position - thanks again 😊
Glad we could help 😄😊
Great video guys. Can’t wait to see your next video!
Thanks so much!
Great work 👏👏👏👏
Well explained, easy language to understand and most importantly clear filming 👏👏👏
Thank you so much :)
Best badminton tutorials bar none. Great job guys!
Wow thank you so much!
Best part of Sunday 🔥🔥🤘❣️ loving the videos
Thank you so much 😊👍🏼
I enjoyed it. Thank you I have learned many of you two.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😄
It still feels better to review the basics once in a while . Nice tutorial greg and jenny , thank you
Great info and so much to learn even on basic drop shots for rec players like me. Thanks.
Glad we could help! 😄
many excellent points in this tutorial, including jen's point that the drop shot prep and swing is essentially same as clear and smash, greg's point about hip rotation and that 'we dont practice the simple things often enough'. one comment i would make is that like the smash and even the clear, the drop shot's effectiveness is greatly enhanced with jumping as high as possible making contact with the shuttle early and as close as possible to the highest point in its trajectory. and yes, there are quite a few ways of hitting a drop shot, and i'd love to see these covered in a more advanced video
Yes we'll cover both of these in future videos! Thanks for the comment and kind words :D
Love you Jenny ❤️ Thanks for this tut too.
Thanks Ashwin! 😊
Thank you great video!
Glad you liked it!
Great vid as usual!
Thanks Angela! :)
Another Great Video. Keep them up Coaches! hopefully do jumping drop shots and backhand drop shots in future videos. I sometimes use Yuta Watanabe's Movement for reference
Thank you so much! :)
I was waiting for it
Hope you enjoyed it!

Yes I agree - easily the best tutorial channel - presented so well and clearly!! 👍
Wow thank you so much both of you! 🤗
I just watching some of your videos and both of you are good with the video especially with the tutorial, its so easy to learn and hopefully will improve my game. Cheers from Indonesia 🇮🇩
Thank you so much Wira! 😄🏸
Superb video thank you the dual shot practise is interesting 👍🏻
Thank you so much 🤗
We are the best dudes because your effort for us 💐
Thanks, this can help me training at my house during pandemic in Indonesia!
Fingers crossed you can get back to training soon!
Doing a presentation in pe today, this is great help thanks😂
Great video once again! Really looking forward to the drop shot variation video 🎉
Thank you so much!
Nice video yet again
Thanks Andy! 😄
Thanks for the video! I’ve been having struggles with controlling simple, straight drops and only being able to slice drops cross court. Hope this helps!
We hope it does too 😆
You guyz won't believe but ,
today I was getting decieved by someone through drop shots in a match and I was so fascinated about it .and here it is " A VIDEO ON DROP SHOTS ! "
Hope we helped! 😄
Helpful as always. I used to only use my arm when hitting drops and that became obvious. Now Im curious since thinking about hitting form/technique. Which singles players throughout history do you 2 think have the best form/technique? For me, I always liked Peter Gade's.
Eagerly waiting for the 7 variations video. :D
Coming soon!
Nice transition
Nice video as usual🔥
After you do the one on drop shot variations, can you make a tutorial on smash variations as well? - like the half smash, stick smash... That would be helpful too🤩
Thank you! 😄 and yes it’s definitely a video we want to do in the future!
Looking forward to advanced options of drop shot!
😄🏸
Great video! Please do the 7 variations of drop shots next.
Thank you Paul! 😊🏸
First comment from me. Love your videos as they are fun to watch. My drop shots seem to go too far over the net. How to make them just sail over the net cord ?
U guys r superb 👌
Thank you! 😁
im from indonesia.. thank you very much
You’re welcome!
Thank you for the great video. Also, (if you've watched the Friends series enough to remember) are you the Greg and Jenny who gave wrong phone number to Monica and Chandler? :)
That is us yes… 😜😂
You make these shots look so easy but honestly when we do it in a match its a lot harder.Anyhow Great video.Loved that part when you said "we dont practice the simple things enough."Actually it is true we dont learn the basics we directly go to advance ones.
Thank you so much 😁
Hiiiii, Is there any type of racket of that supports drop shots
Initially I was using a heavy racket weighing 85-90 grams. I was having good control on the drop shots and net play.
from last 2 months I have shifted to a lighter racket(yonex nanoray 18i ) weighing 78gms. Though my smash speed and accuracy have increased but I have lost control on the net play and drop shots. can you guide me, what could be done. Thanks in advance!!!
Finally, what I really need. Still don't get my form right to do a drop shot, did lot of crimes wasting the chances. 😬
Haha 🥶
Loved this tutorial, a lot of times my drops aren't low enough and they get punished a lot. This video really helps. Can you guys please do one on slice drops or just slice shots in general? Would love that tutorial to help expand my arsenal of shots. Many thanks.
Thank you so much 😊 Definitely coming soon!
@@BadmintonInsight Yeah, would totally love a tutorial on slices.
Also btw, if your drops are being punished a lot, it might not be that they're low enough (though that would 100% be a factor if your drop is several feet over the net.) Other things to consider is that you might
- be signaling via body language that you're going to drop (opponent can start footwork before you even hit it)
- you may be playing too many drops (opponent can start to move in their base position)
- you may be hitting shuttle too fast (in singles, if it goes far enough, they can receive with a relatively tight net shot easily)
- you may be hitting it too slow (in doubles, drops generally need to go fast since people are much closer)
- you might be arcing it too much (which is great if your opponent is out of position because it falls so much tighter to the net, but if they're ready it lets the bird 'hang' in the air too long)
@@myclamish many thanks for this advice. I generally play doubles and i do notice that my drops need to be faster and i am still trying to work on that. I appreciate your help.
Could you do a video on reading body language, please? I often start moving too late because I don't know where they're playing towards. Thank you :)
Thanks for the suggestion :)
You are pros in badminton
Ah thank you!
Thankyou so much my fav champs... Next time please please please teach us jump smash and how to improve...please please.... Love from sikkim.
Thanks Saran!
Thanks for suggesting a video on the jump smash! In case you missed it we actually released this last Sunday on our channel, you can find it here - czcams.com/video/Seony5Owsb8/video.html 😀 Hopefully it answers the questions you had and is useful, if not please let us know anything else you're unsure of!
@@BadmintonInsight yes.. i saw that its really helpful for me as well as my partner too... Once again thankyou so mach..
3:32 smooth transition💯👍
Haha glad you enjoyed it! We we're impressed with it 😂
Is it possibe to train badminton when you dont have access to court? And if the answer is yes can you make a video on that topic? Thank you soo much i hope the best for both of you💛💛
Yes for sure! Check out our first videos on our channel - they were all about training for badminton at home 😄
Mantulll..
Thank you
❤❤❤
Are 6 of them drop, fast drop, slice, reverse slice, backhand, reverse backhand...can't think of a seventh?
Thanks for the video
Not quite! You'll have to wait until the video Daniel 😜 Haha
Deceptive drop?
too good.
Thank you! 😄
Pls you can a video on all smashes like full or half smashes
Coming very soon... 👀
Thanks for the tutorial. 🏸
You’re welcome 😊
Racket giveeeaawaaaaaaay :D
I thought purpose of drop is to just cross net and put it as near as possible to net. Is it right too?
2:25 that is the mistake I was makind thank to both
Glad we could help!
@@BadmintonInsight thanks
I have actually gotten so used to play a slice or a reverse slice (which I think is is a bad habit if done in excess) that I make mistakes on the simple (not so simple ) drop. I have generally observed that people in my country ( India ) and Europe try to play a very fancy game ( which messes everything up). But just look at the asians simple shots but precision is on the next level.
Hi Jen & Greg. Can you guys give a very basic tutorial how to shot with right timming? I'm a beginner still struggle with that, thankyou in advance. Greetings from Indonesia!
In regards to the drop shot Brian? :)
@@BadmintonInsight not only the drop shot. I mean when comes lob, sometimes i miss hit
Hated doing the shuttle throwing exercise when i trained as a kid cause despite being left handed in holding the racquet, im right handed in throwing. So i got in trouble a lot for accidentally throwing w my right or not having enough strength throwing w my left 😭
i have a question for greg how are you able to play badminton with both of your hand i want to play badminton with my left hand but i don’t have the tactis to do it
Lot's of practice haha
@@BadmintonInsight but i don’t know what practice i should do and what i shouldn’t do
when I hit such shot it creats a loop instead of shuttiling going down in downwards angle I am still trying to figure out how to handle that
Q, are you both selected for Tokyo 2021? If yes do talk about your matches, if not then why? Your ranking vs Lauren smith mix double pair?
No we aren't going to the Olympics - Lauren and Marcus are representing Team GB for mixed 💥🏸
Pls make a video on smash and defense in singles
Smash coming soon! Singles defence will also come in the future :D
Thanks for the headsup
I try smashing but hurt my shoulders some nerve and pain what I could be doing wrong
Please can you play a single match against June
Hey.. I am 15 years old now... I have played in district level tournaments but have not won any... Also i have played for 3 years since i was 10 ... But due to some problems i could not play for the last two years...
Is it possible for me to become a national level player... If so how cz I am a bit confused how to start my training
Can you'll make a tutorial on a slice shot .. and when to use it
Thanks for the suggestion Moses! 👍🏼
Hi
Do you guys coach?
Nice.....|...can you pls make more of pretending to be a beginner videos...👍👍👍😀
We can try! 😃
3:02 Here you mention not to use the panhandle grip for smashing. Mind explaining why?
In my mind, hitting the shuttle with the racquet face-on is very important to generate great shuttle speeds. As far as I can tell, if you omit the forearm and/or internal shoulder rotation, panhandle grip results in hitting the shuttle with the racquet face-on. Whereas forehand grip requires forearm and/or internal shoulder rotation to achieve that face-on hit. To me it seems like having to incorporate forearm/shoulder rotation just makes the shot more inaccurate, since you have to be sure not to rotate too much or too little to get it face-on
So in my mind, panhandle seems better suited than forehand grip for a powerful badminton smash
Mind explaining why forehand grip is better than panhandle grip please?
Can you do ‘We pretended to be beginners’ part two?
Maybe 😜
I am still confused:
1) How hard do I hit it?
2) On contact do I release my power?
3) Do I do a full swing, or slightly stop on contact?
it looks so similar to a forehand smash, what are the differences?
A drop shot is a lot softer (usually landing around the service line), but the technique should be very similar to the smash!
Not sure if I'm the only beginner experiencing this but what's the difference between clear, drop, and smash shots? They body movement, and grip seems exactly the same (maybe the the wrist angle of impact?) so I'm having this issue where by I never knew if my own shots are going to be any one of the 3 shots 😂
Timing and power
Are you're not in olympics? Nice video 💝💝
Unfortunately not - we'll be watching every game though 😆🔥 Thank you!
@@BadmintonInsight yeah 💞💞
My favorite shot!
Try to execute this shot with the same action used for clear and smash. Your opponents won't stand a chance against you. Plus, bye-bye to their knees :p
Exactly right 😆🔥
I this any good?
