  • @amaturedamateurbadmintonpl7951

Just want to let you know guys that your sessions are simply amazing and really help in improving for badminton players like me who never took coaching to know good basics.
Also Greg being left handed is a bonus for me since I can perceive much better when a left handed player displays a correct technique.
    Keep up the great work.

As someone with limited power in the smash, I rely on placement and disguise. So if course I use the drop shot quite a lot. Watching this has reinforced my technique. Thank you.
If you are still accepting ideas for new videos, I would love to find out how to defend a smash on the backhand side lifted cross court. For a right handed player this would be a lift to the left side of the court, not the right. We mainly see this in the doubles game. I'm fine with the driven straight defensive shot and the straight lift. This is one shot that is missing from my game.
    Keep up the good content.

Aloha Greg and Jenny, 7 different drop shots. That's an arsenal of winning shots. Your explanation is definitive. Each with it's own specific use and situation. I am always inspired to practice the shots in your tutorial and once mastered, try them out at the club. Such fun. It keeps opponents guessing. They are always baffled by my latest new shot and are kept busy trying to counter them. Your tips help to fine tune my existing repertoire and adds creative new drills to practice. Love your work. Thanks loads for your timely and informative posts. Also you guys look fantastic in your TRME shirts. Admire your look. Stay well.

    Hi Badminton Insight,
Regarding the straight reverse slice, do you guys change your grip to more of a pan handle grip or do you still stick with the standard forehand grip? Other players at my club and myself have noticed that our hand tends to naturally switch to a pan handle grip when playing this shot. Thanks again and love all the videos!

Could at that, the highest axial drill on the shuttle (looking into the shuttle as it moves away from you) is when the shuttle is struck to the right of it - which adds axial rotational speed to the natural axis of which it rotates (it rotates Anti-clockwise, looking into it). The higher the axial drill, the faster the shuttle will travel
Conversely, when the shuttle is struck to the left of it, the initial axial rotation is Clock-wise (the reverse for what it is trying to do). Consequently, the shuttle will correct itself through the motion of the air across it, and transform the Clockwise to an Anti-clockwise rotation (and stopping in its rotation in between). This can only be seen in Ultra Slow Mo
The reason why the shuttle (apparently) spins in the wrong direction - feathers' edges into the wind (counter to our intuition) is difficult to explain. But I can explain that to anyone who might ask me in person. It requires a description of the aerodynamic principles of the shuttle's construction
As I am also a lefty, (~1 in 10 people are) it is actually beneficial for lefties to coach right-handers, simply by facing them in a coaching session, the student can view the Coach as a Mirror
