    I hear what you saying about NO. About the trumpets. For alot the bands its more so the arrangements. Falling in love with the power of the euph/baritones upper octave power. That drowns out the trumpets. Most college bands including the arrangers at GAMB understand to use the whole range of the eupho and allowing them to rest allowing the trumpets, woodwinds and mellos to shine. It come down to what is most important the melody or what euphonium are being used as more so as doubling the melody or adlibbing. Any time you double upper octave eupho/baritone parts with 1st trumpets...you are barely going to hear the trumpets. Todays arrangements depends on taste vs theoretical concepts.

      Let’s keep it real. That can be apart of it at times. But New Orleans had less than 40 trumpets and GA had 50-60 trumpets. On top of that New Orleans had more mellos than GAMB.
      That had a big impact on the difference in sound. Trumpets are gonna have much of your melody and fill in parts with cards in between phrasing.

    The scary part that nobody's talking about is if NOASB actually marched more people. So much talent from my years up to now. The numbers would be insane. At least 500 beasts would be able to march, no lie. All cold. If you marched in New Orleans between say mid 90s - 2005, and even after Katrina, you know.

    This battle was excellent
Two evenly matched bands with different styles. GAMB Won IN THE STANDS because they were more versatile. When NOASB fired shots challenging GAMB to match their power, energy, watts, and ability to crank
while staying in tune & clean. GAMB was VERSATILE enough to respond! See NOASB On Go versus GAMB Learned it from Boosie. NOASB Mellos really shined on On Go with ridiculous power, BUT GAMB was STRONGER in the “Cranking” area on Learned it from Boosie. Now, when GAMB challenged NOASB with those COLLEGE LEVEL ARRANGEMENTS like Spain!!! NOASB had NO RESPONSE. GAMB CONTINUED to stay in their wheel house with the arrangements and exposed NOASB. GAMB would have been almost perfect if they did not have all the tempo issues on the field. GAMB LOST the field battle 3-2 by the way
but make no mistake
Bay City was the best ARRANGEMENT played on the field. The difference in the stands was that GAMB DID NOT make mistakes in the stands and EXECUTED those excellent arrangements. They was clean as hell in the stands. NOASB played 112th St with precision power and control as well as on my level, on go, and the Barry White Song. It was a battle! NOASB did not crap the bed (they pressure)
but they were not versatile enough to match GAMB arrangements (that was the difference) GAMB COULD match NOASB power and watts. GAMB is the perfect mix of power and finesse NOT just power.

    • @JesseVealIII
      @JesseVealIII Pƙed 2 lety +2

      That’s not even the issue. They don’t have the numbers for the amount of the mellos they have. So the trumpets whether they’re playing one part or 3 they’re still not gonna be heard over that many mellos playing fff every song. Not gonna happen with the difference in bell size.
      NOASB trumpets would only be heard on parts with the mellos in b-tones are playing chords, not playing, or playing a lower volume, but if it’s similar phrasing they’re gonna get drowned out everytime.
      GAMB had 50-60+ trumpets and still were not as heard as a trumpet section like SU or JSU is.
